My home is a mess

Wish we had some of that sun here. We ate dinner at 1pm with the lights on cos it was so dark!!
Hence my washing is in the tumble drier, on the radiators, and hanging on the shower rail
I'm afraid the CBA mood is here too! Gilly 1964 - maybe I need that foot of yours too!
Foot coming your way xx:rotfl:0 -
gilly1964's boot up behind worked. I put 2 loads of washing on the line, tidied the kitchen, and sorted out a drawer in the bedroom and 2 piles of carp. Made some lunch. Then I went out, put petrol in the car, dropped two bags of 'stuff' off at the charity shop, dog's urine sample to the vet (please don't ask about how I collected that first thing this morning) and I've been to the library.
Just got home so am taking a short break on here with a cuppa, then I'll peel the pots for tea, bring the washing in off the line and do a bit more sorting in the bedroom. Possibly the most productive day I've had in ....
... months :rotfl:
Not pledging to do better tomorrow as am doing my voluntary work at lunchtime, going to an ex-colleague's leaving do in the afternoon and yoga tomorrow evening.
see ya later

Have to say im not the greatest for ironing. My daughter (18) said do we have an iron!! We don't go around creased (i don't think), i just fold it straight off the drying rack and the creases come out.0 -
Afternoon all. I have this feeling of swimming through glue at the moment with the housework. I spent ages last week tidying our bedroom and it is a dump again. To be fair I have got 20 things listed on ebay at the moment and a big pile to go to the clothing bank and these are making it look messy.
Helen, glad you got it sorted out with your daughter and school. I am having a dilemma at the moment with secondary school for DS2. We are right on the catchment boundary for two schools. Our eldest went to one secondary school two years ago. We have now found out that everyone in the current year 6 at DS2s primary is going to the other school. If my youngest wasnt bothered about it it wouldnt be so bad but he is dreading not knowing anyone in year 7 when he goes up.
Academically there is no difference between the two schools. Its just the social side and I think DS2 is going to struggle. DS1 isnt attending school anyway because of his health and we dont know if and when he will ever go back. At the moment I am leaning towards sending DS2 to the same school as his friends. But is it a mad idea to possibly end up having my two kids at different schools? If anyone has managed to follow all this I would love your thoughts. OH and I are going round in circles with it.
On a completely different subject my washing doesnt seem to be drying outdoors today, although its dry and breezy. Very strange. I am off to try and mop the kitchen floor while everyone is out of the way.
Come on now ladies, gentle shove for anyone needing it, there is still time to do one more thing today. Give yourself 30 minutes and see what you can do. Not that I have anything to preach about because I have plenty of CBA moments!0 -
YORKSHIRELASS - i have older children, so not in this dilemma, but i personally would send them both to the same school. The thinking behind it is that you could end up with activities from different schools on the same day, like school plays, assemblies, summer fayre and christmas fayre, parents evenings, plus you get to know the school and the teachers and build up a bond with them. Kids always make new friends and there is nothing to stop them keeping their old ones, but i would make life easier for myself. You often find that kids in the same school are often separated into different classes and end up on different lunch breaks and make new friends. You know your child and i know that my kids at that stage were quite independent, though my daughter now has become quite insecure, having been in the same class of kids from nursery till end of primary and then with half of them again in secondary, she then went to college on her own and found it hard knowing how to socialise with new people on her own. Good luck and whatever decision you make will be done with the best intentions0

My word! Some of you have been busy, and well done pushing each other along too!
I`ve only been Sort Of busy...much to-ing & fro-ing today, not really a `get stuck in` at home day, more of a `mums taxi` day. Have managed to clear a great backlog of washing up, and one WM load in between, and put some sgopping away. Still in a tip though, and can`t seem to settle to anything in particular. Coming up is the snappins & the night-shift run, I might get on with something after that if I`ve any energy left! I may NEED a gentle shove, but quite honestly if anyone tried to shove me at the moment, however gently, I`d probably just growl at them!
AND the PC is still playing up!0 -
Yorkshirelass - I understand your dilemma over the school choice, but I do tend to agree with SaveDosh. I think kids learn to make new friends a lot easier the younger they are, and this happens whenever they change schools. It probably wouldn`t even be an issue if you were moving to another area, but in your younger childs` case it could be the best of both worlds. Any really strong friendships that exist needn`t be broken by attending different schools, and the opportunity to make new friends is there too. Good luck with whatever you decide!0
