Took our Chinese student to the cathedral today. *They* still have their tree up, and their nativity scenes out.

So everyone with their trees down can feel quite smug, I think.
    import this

I think messies are just realists -
-if you dust the surface simply gets dusty again. Energy expended for no good reason.
-ironing - clothes get creased as you wear them get creased when you wash them, therefore normal state for clothes is creased not smooth
    - cobwebs as I've said before are ecological fly traps and environmentally sound. In the winter they are an indoor wildlife area
    - weeds in the garden are just wildlife areas

therefore no guilt is needed for having a messy house :):)

    Such good points :D

and remember... the less often you dust, the better it looks when you do finally get round to it :rotfl:

Why do it every day/week and hardly notice any difference? ..when if you do it every few weeks, you really notice and appreciate it and feel proud of the effort you have made!!! .. so much more satisfying :D and so much more energy and time saved in the process! :D

Well done, Frugal, for taking down the tree and decs. I know what you mean about childhood decs. Mum still has some, and we have some that our Ds still love to see. :)

I think SP's and Mcfilly's messy 'rules' are wonderful, but maybe a bit self-defeating for this thread. :rotfl: Doesn't mean that I'm not going to follow them sometimes, though.

I have done the vacumming today, but not dusted. That's because mum's coming over for dinner tomorrow evening, and I'd only have to do it again before she comes. ;) I've not made the card as I intended to, but I have put together an owl kit that YD gave me for Christmas. It is, of course, another item to gather dust, but it's pretty cool for all that.

SP, was the mess just pushed to one side, or really cleared? Just curious, you understand.
  • hey there all :)

sorry i havent had much to report for past few days ... havent really done any cleaning , havent been doing to well at anything tbh :(
i get my clothes rail tommorow, so i am determined to hang things on there and make a start of my bedroom :)

Hi all.... I have been lurking on this thread for some time and am deffo a messy!!
I would love to join you if thats ok!! I am a naturally lazy person and also work fulltime...........housework just doesnt appeal when I get in from work and I cannot get up early to do it....I just give myself enought time to shower, get dressed and go.
I broke my wrist early December and a benign tumour has been found...Im out of plaster now, just in a splint but Im having an op shortly to remove it so will be off work and in plaster for about 6 weeks again, therefore, the housework hasnt been and wont be one of my top priorities .
Im so so so thankful that a malignancy wasnt found though and because of the scare I have had I am also giving up smoking...going to Drs on Friday and that will be it.
I look forward to being on here with likeminded people and would just like to say that life is important......my home will get better bit by bit but im going to concentrate on my family (and myself!) much more.Tomorrow I will need to do some ironing..deep joy...and will attempt to give the kitchen a good wipe round but will also enjoy spending time with hubby!!
    Take care all!!
  • Welcome Jacci - you certainly sound as though you have your priorties right.

Well after bed was in place went down and fed and stroked kitten. Did manage to put DW on as we had totally run out of cutlery. Swear there is a black hole through which teaspoons disappear!

Now going to make bed so I have somewhere to sleep tonight!!!

Hello Jacci! So pleased for you that your fears were unfounded. These sorts of situations put some other things into perspective, don't they? You must have made an 'orrible mess of your wrist, but I hope the op is successful, and you'll mend soon. I'm fairly new on here myself, but I get the impression (the rest of them will probably shoot me for this ;)) but I suspect the aim of complete tidiness is just that - an aim, fairly serious but also sort of tongue-in-cheek. :)

    Thank you SoupDragon and Bearcub!!
I agree with what you have said Bearcub re complete tidiness being an aim!! Also when I had a month of work with the break I was worried dreadfully...thats why Ive lost the 12lbs showing in my sig and thats been from 28/12!!
After my op which will be done within next fortnight I would think the time off will be more enjoyable and I will be able to catch up on little bits with my one arm!!
Anyway little bit of housework tomoz and then a relaxing lunch with hubby and then Monday back to the rat race.....I could do with an 8 day week and that probably still wouldnt be enough!!
  • I spent the morning worrying about the dentist, spent the afternoon at the dentist, the evening asleep recovering from the dentist.

    ie. nothing got done.

my original plan for the day was morning - pets cleaned out and general tidying so I could come back from the dentist having a nice tidyish house. and spend tomorrow working. And maybe visiting pets at home to buy a light for the fish tank.

    that is not happening now!

so I will see what tomorrow brings!

    xx
    Nevertheless she persisted.
