We had rats and they were very funny to watch, we have also had degus, guinea pigs (hairy and hairless), hamsters (various types) , gerbils, rabbits, cats, reptiles etc .................just not a dog!

I'm too tired to tidy the mess from my guests, I will face it all with good grace and enthusiasm in the morning ;)

Cat and Frugal where are you??

    hairless guinea pigs???????????

hope u had a lovely night and yes, tackle the mess in the morning. I've got pots left from tea, but I'll wash them when I get up. there's still enough clean plates left for breakfast :) I was too busy spending some quality time with my eldest daughter to bother with housework.

  • Oh goodness. I loved my rats. And the jirds and degus...
Nothing like a podgy guinea pig though!
Just been woken up again by faulty house alarm...
  • Well. I better get up properly soon. House alarm went off again earlier so wide awake and cats are all skittish. Can't relax now so decided to google my alarm, to no avail.

I need to get someone out to look at it otherwise I'll be reluctant to leave the house in fear of it going off again. I need to make sure we're clean and tidy everywhere as they may need to check all the sensors (which means they will need to go upstairs ).

Is it really bad that I request someone to come this afternoon (assuming they will!) so I have time to tidy!????!! (Here's a wake up call - house should always be tidy enough to let someone inside in an emergency....) :o

    Morning all

Hubby has got someone coming round this morning at 9am (yes on a Saturday) to see about a job he wants hubby to do. Woke up at 4am thinking:

    a) I need to get up, get dressed and make myself look presentable by 8.30 am in case he comes early. Dont want this guy thinking OH has a slob of a wife.

    b) What does the kitchen look like? Is this bloke likely to go into the lounge? Is it a disaster in there?

Laid awake until 5am then got up. Have been wasting time on here since then so I really have got to move. Everyone else is in bed asleep so they are about to get woken up!

Morning messies, after a rather sleepless night on Thursday (unusual for me in termtime), I slept well last night and woke about 8.30am. My list for today is:

Hair colour (now sitting with colour on and drinking coffee)
    fix rickety fence (again, sigh)
    feed birds
    clean cat litter tray out
    take meter readings
continue to ignore upstairs mess while I have fun with my t shirt yarn project!

Laurel, how dreadfully sad - thinking of you.

Hope everyone has a good Saturday - I have a break from hospital visiting this weekend so am taking advantage of two fairly self indulgent days at home!

After I've washed off hair colour first job is breakfast - eggy oatcakes today I think!
I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

I have the same thing - it's not that wheat causes me depression but that it seems to take me a lot of energy to digest it so I don't have enough energy to do anything else. I discovered it when working a few years ago - a lunchtime sandwich made me incredibly sleepy and unalert in the afternoon so I changed to salads, including chickpeas, kidney beans, etc and bingo no tiredness :j Nowadays I avoid bread/pasta until my evening meal and I'm much livelier during the day.
I don't put wheat down to depression that is caused my an unsupportive family (brother and sisters not OH or my kids)they are really hacking me off at the moment. But the wheat thing is a deffo now I am sure. Can I just go to the docs and ask to be testing over allegies?I am going to give your lunch ideas ago and see what happens:)
In the meantime, thanks to you lovely lot motivating me I have actually managed more this last couple of days then I have done over the last month and the house(well at least downstairs is now tidy and dust free although I do have two cupboards that need sorting through.
  • Lizzie & Loudmouth - I also have a problem with eating lunch. I`ve noticed that it`s not about WHAT I eat, but WHEN. I`m not normally a breakfast person, except when on holiday (paid for breakfast so will eat it!) and that doesn`t send me off wanting to `rest & digest`. In fact I can & do quite comfortably go all day with or without breakfast, living on coffee, cigs, and an occasional biscuit (dunked). After mid-day anything more substantial, even a light salad, and I`m useless for at least an hour afterwards. I always do a decent balanced meal at night though. I know this is all wrong, but that`s the way my system works! What I should do really is get into the breakfast habit...
  • I can't handle anything other than a banana or so-called nutrition bar at breakfast. I don't wake up enough to be hungry before at least 9am!

    Afternoon lovely ladies

Dh and I have just spent a few glorious hours at the Lottie, we have weeded and dug over 4 beds and they look pristine, a general tidy up was also done - it now looks better than the house, but the best bit was taking the camping stove, rolls, bacon, onions and flasks and DH cooking up a breaky roll and we had coffee with them - delicious, yum, yum. The sun was shining, sky was clear and the wind blew away the cobwebs. We are mucky and worn out but oh so happy.

Now to flop out for the rest of the day

Oh yes! They are an acquired taste but I adore our two, they are packed with personality and ridiculously funny :D

Helen we use the side of our garden as a veg and fruit going area and it is roughly the size of a full allotment plot. I so want to get out there and get it sorted but life seems to keep getting in the way :(. Sounds as if you and the OH had a perfect start to the day though!

Today I need to wash mountains of laundry and sort the kitchen out after our dinner guests last night. But I just DON'T WANT TO!!!!!!
