My home is a mess

Afternoon:)I think I may have made a discovery re health problems today.Yesterday morning I felt fine and ready to tackle mess, then had some toast and all of a sudden I felt so tired. This morning I have had a mad clean and tidy round and managed a lot of overdue chores.I stopped off for lunch and had a sandwich, and besides having to make a dash for the loo( sorry)I am now feeling blinkin awful again.I am now thinking there could be a link to my depression and wheat.
I have the same thing - it's not that wheat causes me depression but that it seems to take me a lot of energy to digest it so I don't have enough energy to do anything else. I discovered it when working a few years ago - a lunchtime sandwich made me incredibly sleepy and unalert in the afternoon so I changed to salads, including chickpeas, kidney beans, etc and bingo no tiredness :j Nowadays I avoid bread/pasta until my evening meal and I'm much livelier during the day."Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass...it's about learning how to dance in the rain." ~ Vivian Greene0 -
Pusdey, I`ll fight over the orange ones! I don`t like the coffee creams though.(yet I love Baileys, and coffee!) We`ve got a tin of Heroes & a big box of Thorntons (YUM) AND I`m the only one in the house who`ll eat them! Even DGD isn`t that keen on chocolate, has occasional nibble but one easter egg lasts till a quarter of it gets chucked out!
Also have a bottle of sherry, & 2 of port, plus one of ginger wine and a back-currant liqueur - these will be used in the kitchen, as I LOVE making (inventing)alcy puddings when DS`s GF comes to stay. Nobody but me in this house eats puds...0 -
Evening all
MM, glad to hear you sounding more positive. It makes such a difference when a doctor really listens to what you are saying.
Cat, I am 40 this year too. I dont want a party and lots of fuss, would rather just go away somewhere and celebrate quietly with OH and the kids. Hmmm, does that make me sound a tiny bit dull?
Helen, I love our hamsters. Best pets we have ever had, they are so cute and cuddly.
Today I have:
Helped OH take a car load to the dump
Cleaned the bathroom
Done 2 loads of washing and loads of ironing
Hoovered the kitchen
And been for a run ... I really need to get back in shape
I just need to resist all the Christmas chocolate and crisps that is still lurking in the kitchen.0 -
You can send the crisps my way, yorkshirelass!!! I'd have them over chocs any day!0

It happens sometimes in a school, but a child died over the holidays.
Like everybody else, I've been terribly professional all week, but I'm a bit sniffly now.
I'll be fine...but the poor, poor family...
Life can be very cruelimport this0 -

Life can be very cruel
Oh gracious. I've been there. It's such a shock, isn't it. Allow yourself the sniffles, laurel7172. You need the space to grieve as well. Are there counsellors available?
One of our children got run over just outside school on Tues. He's OK I think. He was with his mum on the way to a re-admission meeting after being excluded at the end of term...0 -
Oh Laurel - thats very sad news, hugs and you and the family are in my thoughts
I'm having all the soft centres and the toffees but the nutty ones are all yours and I'm prepared to fight you for them lol
Being 30 was horrible for me but being 40 was no prob and I'm not bothered about being 50 but DH is!!
Homer the Hamster has slept all day and is still asleep - dog still going potty over him
DH is wanting attention so I'm away to sort him out - a good slap should sort him out

:grouphug: laurel - that's terrible news :grouphug:
If you've been putting a brave/professional face on all week then you can definitely take some time for yourself now that you're home.0 -
Laurel, ((HUGS)) for you hun. Now it`s the weekend and you don`t have to be professional. And there`s no shame in tears. It`s bad enough when it`s an elderly person, or one who had a very poor prognosis, but you`ve got to know them and their folks & there`s a bond. No matter how professional you are, there are times when your eyes just fill up. I know this is part of my territory as a nurse, thankfully much rarer for the folks who work with healthy children in school. (I also know I couldn`t handle childrens` nursing.) And I know that if the time ever comes when I DON`T feel choked and instinct/spontaneity means a hug with a bereaved relative - then it`s time I`ll pack it in.0

Best of luck with Homer tonight. Where will he be while the house sleeping....?
Hope he hasn't got anything in his cage that might make a lot of noise...0
