Iv sort of read through the last few pages trouble is you miss a day and there is pages to read. To Merlott I think re the duvet, if you get an elastic band and tie off the part of the quilt thats been peed on you can just soak this part in some vinagar and soap powder. When rinsed dry off with a hair drier. May save you some pennies.
    Laurel like emm sending hugs.
Cat Im 42 this year and turning 40 was nothing. I like to think that Im more secure in myself than I was in my 20s and 30s and that I dont have to prove myself to anyone. Anyway you have a young outlook on life more than some younger people I know.
Iv got lots of deep cleaning to do in the kitchen as Iv done little the last few days. Id better go and do it or it will be waiting for me in the morning.

Rummer, you sound like you`d be a great dog-owner. My heart goes out to you. I find it hard to imagine myself having a warm friendship (let alone a `relationship`!) with someone who seriously just dislikes dogs!

I would be a fabulous dog owner :D

In fairness to my OH the only animal he has said no to is a dog. We have rescued animals for many years and have often had oddles of them in and around the house. However true to form I want what I can't have ;)

Good to see you again Snooks

OH was in bed until well after 9pm so doubt I'll be conscious when he makes it up. Treated myself to a dress from Mr T, sort of a teal v-neck wrap around affair. Justified it as an interview dress. Does look rather fetching, even if I feel a little perturbed with the elastic bit holding the waistline in.

Our greatest weakness lies in giving up; always try just one more time
  • AGE - it`s all relative.
We pay WAY too much attention to `chronological ` age. There`s folks in their 90`s with minds as sharp as ever, laid up in hospital for a week then fighting to go home and running rings around the physios - and there`s folks in their 50`s who have so lost touch with their youth that they want to be dependent for the rest of their lives, and don`t care who they used to be. And there`s every decade and mindset in between.
Personally, I HATED that I felt I was `ageing` between my 25th & 30th birthdays. Then I married a fantastic bloke who was 13 years older than me, my late Hubby was young at heart but the age difference made me feel great! Never minded the rest of the decades at all. Plus nursing helped - and still does, when you`re pushing 60 and someone calls you `a good kid`, it`s wonderfully rejuvenating you know!
What I HATE about my `now-ness` is
    1) having to do the hair-colouring as I REFUSE to give in & `grow old gracefully` till I stop getting teenage zits & still get the odd one !
    2) needing specs, not just for reading. But I don`t lose `em so much now!
    3) arthritic thumbs - but thanks to Occy Health & Physio have learnt how to get around much of the difficulty, and still functioning at home & work without more than an occasional dose of anti-inflammatory meds and occasional ice-pack.
    4) having to Pluck my Chin!!
    On the PLUS SIDE -
    1) I know myself better, and have become someone I can live with. If I CBA, then I`ll say so. OH now is pretty much the same - we were Great Friends, and still are - that`s the basis for `us`. Not passion, excitement, guilt trips or any of that carp. Both been there, done that, both just feel very lucky to be together and `mature` enough to appreciate the companionship we share.
2)at work - no intention to retire yet, but no intention to seek Promotion either. So I can speak out, challenge stuff some younger colleagues can`t. Makes one feel quite liberated - and a useful role as spokesperson.
    3) Naughty Words. Of course, I do NOT use them in earshot of patients, visitors, or younger members of the household. But I DO use them. Appropriately, and sparingly. And with good effect. Far more effective than when I was 20 years younger!
  • MessyMare - `fetching` sounds good lass, interview or no! Lucky you having a waistline - even held in by elasticy bit! I did have a small waist Quite Some Time ago (24"when I married late Hubby, but he was a great cook...) and I`ve always felt that if I wasn`t Content I`d get my waist back...now settle for clothes that don`t emphasise the pot-bellied look!

Snookey - I know - it`s lovely to have more Messies here, but if you miss a day it takes longer to catch up. Just dive in and stay with us, that`s the main thing!

Rummer - it may happen, don`t give up! I`m envious of your kitchen mine has been badly smitten by DGD & DS. Snacking on North Staffs Oatcakes (like wraps, microwaved to melt) - there`s grated cheese & bits of tomato, & ham packet strewn everywhere - while playing her new x-box game together, & they`re still playing at nearly midnight, Bless`em. There`s more oatcakes in fridge so they probably aren`t done trashing kitchen yet...this is their take on `self-sufficiency`.
  • Helen - we`ve had many Small Rodents over the years. And this with cats and dogs. NO fatalities caused by larger pets to small ones. Had a Houdini hamster that one of my old dogs (a terrier crossbreed who caught & KILLED voles/mice in the garden) used to catch and bring gently to us, unharmed, because to him INDOORS was different, same old dog would push the cats away from their staring vigil at small rodent cages. Last rodent pets we had were a couple of sweet ratty-boys, but old Daftie-dog was sometimes quite upset (not threatening them at all, just Upset) when they were out at large on our shoulders, getting attention etc. Still keeping the big rat-cage/tank, but not considering new occupants while we still have our dear old Daftie-dog. If & when we do, it will be RATS, they`re the best rodent pets in the world!

Just sat down. My kitchen is now spotless. All cat hair off the sisal rug I bought to go under the chairs and table. Smells nice now due to zuflora. Had chocolate cake bits everywhere including on the rug so I had to scrub it clean. Washing in and washing sorted ready to be washed. DD room tidied ,our bed changed and room tidies and thats it apart from the bird cage I did earlier.
Thanks Messy, your dress sounds lovley and well deserved after the upset you have had.
Had an argument with oh last night as he has been gambling again . He is going to see our gp Monday to see about some help. Iv had as much as Im going to take but then Iv said that before.
Emm our late dog let the hamster groom his ears and kept the cats from her cage. Funny animals at times.
Talking about waists I was a ten to 12 when I met oh now Im a 16. I go up and down with weight . Having a sweet tooth is my downfall .
    Well take care everyone.

So nice to hear of someone else who loves rats.....so many people just freak out!! I've had several, but the last two (both Dumbos) were the sweetest. Unfortunately I became allergic to them, so could only handle them if I wore something that covered my arms and neck or I'd be covered in a rash and itching for the next hour or so.

Weird cos hamsters, guines pigs and rabbits - I'm still fine with.

We had rats and they were very funny to watch, we have also had degus, guinea pigs (hairy and hairless), hamsters (various types) , gerbils, rabbits, cats, reptiles etc .................just not a dog!

I'm too tired to tidy the mess from my guests, I will face it all with good grace and enthusiasm in the morning ;)

Cat and Frugal where are you??
