Erm...is it normal for one's floor mop to smell like a swamp?

Just asking..hypothetically speaking, obviously (walks away whistling)....

If you are not on a water metre put it in the toilet and flush! I can't understand why the toilet flushes clean water,we could use bath water or water from washing machine, but it cleans my mop at least :)

Just read some back pages and saw the confessions posts... I think I may have told this story before but it does confirm my messy status so well I'll tell it again...

I had some friends over one weekend and my cat put on a performance in the living room by sitting and staring up at the ceiling, looking all excited and meowing. A big debate about what she was so excited about ensued, and the we all realised what it was. Not a "poltergeist" moment, but a large and particularly dangly cobweb wafting in the breeze!! :o

I prefer to think of these as 'ecological fly catchers' - any comments and you can then talk about the damage to the ozone layer of using fly spray, nasty chemicals etc.......;)

Yes I admit it's more because I hate dusting but who's to know :)

  • Happy New Year Messies,

am a bit late but that is me all over!

I set myself a task, if i could get my room straight and presents put away by 10 o clock I could buy a pair of shoes.

Needless to say my messiness is so ingrained even the carrot of shoes couldn't force me to move quickly, I played with the guinea pigs stared at the hoover faffed for England essentially!

No shoes for Buffy but my room is tidy and my desk is clear and Guinea Pigs don't smell so it's all good!

Happy New Year fellow Messies. Still suffering the last vestiges of the New Year's hangover - first night that I've really had a drink this Christmas and boy did it fight back today :rotfl:

House is as messy as ever but OH isn't fit enough for building work atm so I'm hoping when I go back to work, he'll make a start on his future role of house-husband. Not sure I'm ready for the consequences though. He took it upon himself to clean my car a couple of days ago (that was supposed to be my messy haven that I could keep in whatever state makes me happy but apparently even that gets on his nerves!) and now it won't start . Apparently the dirt was the only thing holding it together but now I've got to deal with working out where to get it repaired. Hopefully our new neighbours can advise on a good local (& CHEAP :D) garage.

Off for a nice early night now - New Years Challenge is going to be getting up earlier to get into work earlier so need to make use of tomorrows bank holiday to reset my body clock ready for a nice early start on Tuesday

Best wishes to all for 2012....

House is even more of a tip this evening than normal, just taken down all the cards and garlands. The tree is still standing but no baubles on it, they are all on my dining room table.....I don't like the bare look of it now, it has a festival mess about it, now it just looks like a !!!!!! tip!. Will try and get better organised after a coffee, but in reality I have no inclination to do it, I'm rather lazy but happy:D

    Helen, how's your leg?

P.s. I'm sat here with Harvey, (indoor rabbit) at the side of my feet, and I have got to say its the first time I have ever smelt his cage whiffing like it does now, I clean it everyday including his littertray. Any OS tips on removing the odour. (He is neutered)

Dinner to-night here for 10 - quite tired. Have worked really hard to get all public areas ie LR, kitchen/dining room, hall and bathroom tidy. Hope to have house de-xmasdecorated by end of week - will do a small area each day until it's done - will leave one thing up til 6th Jan as I'm superstitious!!!! Now that I've a few rooms sorted I intend to try and keep house as it is now and also improve ie get dump rooms sorted.

I have guinea pigs, I clean their cage with vinegar (malt vinegar but you could white vinegar) rinse it well - my aim is have the cage base not smelling at all of anything and then at least you have a fighting chance!

I noticed an unusual smell from my boy and he had an abcess so just check there is nothing wrong - esp if you think it is an odd smell.

Buffy, thank you for your tip, I don't have any white vinegar, but do have the malt type, will try that.

I was making a coffee, turned round and one of the cats was doing her business in the rabbit litter tray, no wonder it stinks so much, I'm sure the combination of the two don't mix very well. The cat litter tray is also cleaned daily so cannot understand for a moment why Treacle would want to pee in rabbit's tray. She is a little jealous of the attention he gets, but they get on well together, and even sleep together sometimes (not during the night though, only when I'm here to supervise!).

What type of bedding do you use? I currently have shredded paper in the indoor cage, I did have animal bedding in for a while, but it made me sneeze alot.
