    C-Day -11
    Now C-day -6 (ish)

    Stuff that must be done:

Spare room (actually DD's dressing room-sounds extravagant, but it's a typical modern house with two decent-sized and two tiny bedrooms-so DD has both the small ones)

Tidy. Clean. Wardrobe cleared. Bed made up with fresh linen and door kept shut to keep cat OUT.

Status: About there. Even inside of windows cleaned. Clean bed linen and we're done.

    Living room:

Christmas decs put away, hoovered, dusted

Status: Done. Even carpet cleaned. Will need hoovering again, but we're there. Whew.

    Study/dining room

    Dekibbled and cleaned

    Status: Pretty much immaculate

    Kitchen/utility/all bathrooms

    Sparkling

Status:Bathroom walls (which I didn't even know needed doing) perfect. Cabinets emptied and cleaned. Will need a swish, but looking good!

All clothes washed, dried and put away.

Status: Some things never change :rotfl:

Stuff that would be nice to have done:

    Skimmed ceilings painted
. I really, really am fed up not to have done this yet. But you can't sand and paint when the room below is a mess, and by the time I've tidied up I'm just too blasted tired....
The plan was to prepare and paint through, but it isn't happening. I think I'm going to have to do one zone at a time.

    So that would be:
    kitchen
    utility
    downstairs loo
    hall
    landing
    children's bathroom
    my bathroom

I think this may be waiting for me after our guest has left...

Status: not done, but with cleaning of walls etc, much closer

Ditto-paint kitchen. I touched up with the old paint a while back-it's a totally different colour. Such a mess, but I don't think I'm going to be able to sort this out in time.

Status: unrealistic. TBH I'm not even sure which colour I'd have to buy, and I'm NOT putting patches on the walls now...

    Lawns mowed: Done

Holes dug for the trees arriving next week. Actually, plan drawn so I know where to dig the holes for the trees arriving next week...ideally, this would have been done before I ordered the trees, obviously...but sitting down and drawing seemed like an indulgence I couldn't afford...and it's stupid, because I've just spent weeks stripping out the results of what somebody else planted without thinking it through...

Status: May have to change aspiration to one nice big hole for heeling in!!!

Whew. I was feeling that with a couple of days lost to unsuccessful carpet cleaning and wall scraping, I might be further behind than that. I feel so much better now...:T

I'm back after doing the hospital run and a quick family get together - whew! It was lovely to see some relatives I haven't seen all year.

Fannyadams, first of all I love your name, that's what my mum used to call me sometimes when I was little! No idea why. Anyway just wanted to say we celebrate our unmessying as much as our messyness, so well done you! My living room is STILL tidy by the way!! That won't last once I'm back at school but still, it's been very nice!

Welcome all delurkers and new messies, lovely to have more good company!

Just read some back pages and saw the confessions posts... I think I may have told this story before but it does confirm my messy status so well I'll tell it again...

I had some friends over one weekend and my cat put on a performance in the living room by sitting and staring up at the ceiling, looking all excited and meowing. A big debate about what she was so excited about ensued, and the we all realised what it was. Not a "poltergeist" moment, but a large and particularly dangly cobweb wafting in the breeze!! :o

    Sounds like a plan.

I think on here there's a group of us who do this by thanking the posts you've read. Makes it easy to skim backwards :) HTH

Done nothing bar make a mess today. Learned how to make cottage pie, and I'm assuming because OH has just eaten the entire dish, that it was good. I've still got no appetite though :(

we have dust buffalos here - the bunnies mutated after we had laminate floors, thought they were on the open prairies and got bigger & faster!

I actually just snorted my coffee!

Erm...is it normal for one's floor mop to smell like a swamp?

Just asking..hypothetically speaking, obviously (walks away whistling)....
