Oh Frugal, I'm sorry too. I've just come across your last posts and have been laughing out loud as well.

I think that the 'chastisement' is to realise that they won't have surprises tomorrow, but maybe they are just too young and temptation is too great.

Maybe next year the elves can deliver the advent chocolates one at a time on the pillows of children with tidy bedrooms and maybe the prezzies don't go under the tree until Christmas night. That's what we do still (and my two are 17 and 19!)

Or if you do put the prezzies out early, wrap them up with so much duck tape and string that the children won't be able to open them easily and hide all the scissors and sharp knives in the house... or maybe could you attach the presents to some kind of alarm... (My youngest son could probably design something with a battery unit that could be hidden in a bauble on the tree.:D)

Make sure you keep a note of your posts about their mischief now. It's the kind of thing that can be brought out at awkward times when they are much older (even as fodder for the 'best man's speeches'!):D

Well I've done the only thing possible to ensure I make the most of this week and get the house sorted.

    Organised a Hogmanay party!!! :D:D:D
  • As always you lot make me smile. Frugal, I would be really annoyed with them. When one of my boys was about 3 I caught him unwrapping a present - luckily it was one of my husbands. I still dont know whether he was intending to work his way through the whole pile!!

Everyone else is relaxing in front of the telly while I run round like a bloody headless chicken. Great eh? I have just opened a bottle of wine and am now officially going on strike. If its not done now its too late.

GreyQueen, you have got it so right with your throwing a tablecloth over the boxes. Its Christmas Eve for heavens sake - we deserve a rest!

Cat hope you are OK - a medicinal Baileys sounds just the thing. Sounds like Helen could do with one for her throat!

Love and good wishes to all. Will try and post tomorrow but I hope you all enjoy your evening.

    hi all

am on a coffee break, ive managed to half do 3 rooms, as i go in to put something down and ended up having to do 10 jobs in tha roo then remember where i was and go back to it!! Me thinks i will be up till the early hour of xmas morning. Frugal if it was me id choose 2 nice presents for thee stockings and leave them a note from santa in the top saying they were going to get a lot more but they were naughty, and end it by saying dont mess with the claus!! or there is a claus in the contract about giving children gifts that they must NOT open them and he is disappointed and made mary christmas cry, and only when they are truly sorry in theere hearts can they have the rest of them (guess whos kids have done that before lol). Might sound a bit harsh and they do get there presents but hopefully they might get a lesson from it. Sorry am i just a really cruel mother????? They will prob laugh about it later on in life when they realise it was you. Well luckily for me mine do heheheheheh.xxxxx

Good idea - I won't use the Mary crying bit as DD2 is genuinely remorseful and sad that she has upset me... She deserves to be forgiven already but DD1 has learned nothing from me being angry at her... I will tell them that only when they are sorry in their hearts (great line btw!) then he might make a return journey IF they are very, very good! Then I might let them have the rest on New Years Eve... If I can wait that long :rotfl:

I don't think you are cruel at all! Kids need to learn right from wrong :A

Just come back from Chrintingle Service and as we pulled up DD spied some packages on the doorstep - the Elves had been, there followed much excitement as we all unwrapped what had been sent - kiddies are now watching Harry Potter Deathly Hallows Part 2 - peace reigns supreme. DH got a game that will have to be played - most impressed he wasn't lol, but he did get a CD which he liked.

DD has just spilt Yogurt over the sofa but the dog is busy cleaning it up!!

DR still needs to be done and so does something else but I can't remember what.

Homemade crackers with breakable thingy inside need to be brought down - watch the tears fall tomorrow as everyone pulls the cracker and the things spring out, drop and break. DH has just informed me that he caught the kiddies trying to look inside them to suss out what the thingy's are!!! !!!!!!s!!

Dh is working his way through "a couple" of cans and is reading over my shoulder - how rude

I only had to to two things today and then come back and clean etc. but I didn't home till almost four, no lunch so ate, and now just had a late dinner. am shattered and house is utter pit. I could cry but instead will try the 15 minute thing.

    Merry Christmas xxxx

We put so much pressure on ourselves at Christmas: it's only one day in the year, and it isn't about a tidy house xx
