Good luck GQ! A bit of strategically placed tinsel and holly should help considerably, and if you have some lairy fights - well we all know the dim lighting trick, right?

You will be in my Christmas prayers, as will all fellow messies. I feel I have to emphasise (before I get banished to the flylady thread) that I haven't deserted the messy fold completely - upstairs is messy enough to warm the cockles of any die-hard! It's so strange to actually have the downstairs all tidy though - it hasn't been tidy for many years. I'm going to really enjoy it while it lasts (which will be roughly two weeks into the new term).I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

Thanks Frugal, but the truth is I have a reasonable amount of padding around my girth and backside area for the rest of my body to call up for extra resources just in case it needs it.
The only thing that was really hard work was actually cleaning the hard floors on my hands and knees, the washing machine and dishwasher did the hard work - thank goodness for their invention! I had planned today for cleaning the house through because last year I was cleaning and ironing on Christmas Eve until gone 7pm and I vowed to never ever do that again.
The very thought of that kept me through today. Tomorrow, it's re-vaccing, dusting, watering house plants, easy peasy stuff that I can do no problem. I was just trying to de-bug/de-virus the house. Don't know if it has worked, but I am not taking chances.
:rotfl:GreyQueen - I bet your itching to do something in your parents home - go on admit it your chomping at the bait

if you see a tall, mad haired brunette freaking out and trying not to fall asleep standing up, that'll be me.
OH has been getting up at 5am for 6am starts three or four days on the bounce. Which means I'm awake too. Not his fault. But so tired. Been such a stressful week. So looking forward to 5,30 pm tomorrow as it's the start of three blissful days off. Back to work for a half day on weds and then off for another two days. Thank god. Need to get a military operation going to sort this sty out.
Much love darlings xx

Oh woe, woe and thrice woe! I can't get the new sewing machine to work. It really doesn't come as a surprise, as I'm a complete duffer with anything like that - but the thread is getting all caught up inside the machine and I have no idea why. It's probably me doing something stupid. I've posted on a sewing thread asking for help and might try calling the customer help line tomorrow, though I doubt I'll get any joy before Christmas. I very stupidly assumed all would be well and threw away the polystyrene packaging, but I still have the box. Sigh.
Well, actually nothing can damp my good spirits today, I'm still on a major high from getting downstairs clean and tidy!I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

Wow :j
I don't know who to admire most: the people who are getting things done or the people who know when to stop and have fun :T
Personally, I thought I'd done quite well today until I made the mistake of checking my list
Evil list...
But I've had lots of help from my rather wonderful children, who really seem to have decided to pull their weight willingly-as long as they're reminded :rotfl:I can see an end, and we won't be eating Christmas dinner surrounded by drying clothes. It's even reasonably tidy upstairs. By our standards
Rummer-pleased you're feeling well enough to have chocolate for breakfast
. Cat-take care of yourself m'dear and I hope you'll have a restful Christmas with lots of books and Baileys. JPS-hope you find your family member comfortable. Those who can feel the clock ticking...people make Christmas and everything else is optional xx
Happy Christmas to those who won't be around over the weekend

JPS - I'm absolutely no expert but it does sound as if you might have threaded it wrong or maybe the tension is wrong - that is the sum extent of my knowledge [sorry] I'm sure that the answer is an easy one - these machines take time and patience before they work properly!!!

Can't believe it - [STRIKE]all[/STRIKE] all but one downstairs rooms tidy - I designated one room for [STRIKE]dumping[/STRIKE] storing stuff - this has now doubled to 2 rooms which are off limits to general public - am so pleased with the rest of the house that I resolve to keep it like this and get the other rooms sorted and up to my new current standard. Soft lighting helps as well. Feeling quite virtuous actually - really want to keep on top of things in 2012. A Happy Xmas to all and a very tidy New Year.Treat the Earth well,It was not given to you by your parents,It was loaned to you by your children.Masai proverb0
