Happy Boxing Day everybody :j Don't you often find this is nicer than the day itself? Lots of nice food left, no pressure, time to play with/read your new toys/books.

I almost cried on Christmas Eve when I came upstairs to find the landing clear and hoovered. It hasn't been the same stuff, but nevertheless it has been covered in carp for weeks.

And I'm not *entirely* sure how Christmas dinner got cleared up and washed up...I just seemed to potter it away when passing. Amazing what you can do on a day when you don't demand another ten things at once of yourself.

Anyway, I've been up, fed the cat, unloaded the baking trays from the dishwasher and somehow I'm back in bed. No movement from the teenagers' rooms yet! Today is my rest day. Tell me not to fritter it away on the half-dozen "I'll just"s that are already crowding in :p

I agree Laurel boxing day is by far my favourite day of the holiday season as you can relax and enjoy your gifts in peace and quiet ;)

Just woken up to a spectacularly messy house, there seems to be mess everywhere but I refuse to feel anxious about it today. Popped the washing machine on and I am just about to clear the living room table which is covered in the mess the boys left last night.

My DD is wrapped up in a pile of xmas gift clothes watching dreadful TV and my DH is sound asleep, even the animals are crashed out around the house :rotfl:

Don't even think about any of those 'just's'- except one -just enjoy the day. Just back from leaving my daughter and her OH to airport - hopefully see them again soon. House quiet 'til others arrive later - have confined all mess to 2 rooms and at the very least hope to maintain this or at best perhaps get it down to 1 room - but def taking it easy to-day. Hope everyone had a good day yesterday - I love this thread as it makes me realise - I am not the only m e s s y person out there.;)

I have been working super fast and really hard today :D

Done two loads of laundry, the dishwasher is whizzing away and the tumble dryer is whirring. The living room is looking habitable again although I am itching to take down the decs, I love them on the run up to xmas but as soon as the dinner is over I just want them to vanish :rotfl:. I think as a compromise I will take the cards and things down and just leave the tree in the corner.

Just sitting down to gaze at the sales and to do some crochet before I will go back in to tidy the rest of the kitchen

    Afternoon everyone

Sounds like Merry Christmasses were had by all - we had a lovely day, kids were very excited in the morning and by 8.30am the LR was a sea of wrapping paper, I got lots and lots of lovely pressies, infact we all did! I tidied up the kids pressies last night [clothes and smellies in a bag waiting to go upstairs] They are away to their Dads today so hubby and I are chillaxing on the sofa - well I'm about to have a kip hehe

    See you lovely lot later

    Helen x

PS Rummer - I too said to DH this morning that I'd love to take the decs down but kiddies would be most unimpressed with me if I did lol

:) Afternoon campers, and no Christmas catastrophes to report, mainly because we're determindly going nowhere and seeing no one but the family memebers already on the premises. Shopping? Bah!

I de-clarted this disgusting keyboard of my brother's yestereve whilst the rest were playing whist. I'm cursed with an inability to remember rules to cardgames so just let them get on with it.

Braved a Sainsbugs this morning to stock up on bread and milk and Mum found a gammon joint which had been MIA in the fridge for a few weeks so we're cooking that today to eat cold tomorrow.

Pudding was leftover pie for 3 and leftover Xmas pud for 2 so we've caught-up on the leftovers. Sprouts could've doubled as offensive weapons as were a trifle al dente but I wasn't responsible for the cooking so I shut up and ate up.

Some tidying-up has taken place, mainly of chocolates and biscuits, you know how it is, and we've selected a movie from the backlog on the premises to watch as what's screening this afternoon doesn't float Nan's boat. I've also borrowed an armful of DVDs from kid bruv to take home to Shoebox Towers to watch on the pooter when I feel the urge.

Mount Washmore is being intermittantly-scaled in the background as we seem to have deployed every teatowel in the premises, which is quite an achievment, being as there are dozens in this house. And I've nabbed a couple of recipes from Mum's huge collection of unused cookbooks and emailed them to myself...........:p

Hope everyone has a lovely relaxing afternoon; we're just chilling out here at the homestead and I think I didn't know how tired I was until I stopped, so it'll do us all a power of good to rest.

  • Hope everyone had a good Christmas. Did 15 mins decluttering in bedroom. Even that makes a difference. Aim to do this each day now until bedroom looks a lot better!
  • Happy boxing day!! i too love this day sometimes more than crimbo day.

Today we had a lie in to us 8am is a lie in so thanks to ds1 we got to have one lol, so we got up and had breakfast, loaded the dishwasher and stripped the beds chucked them in the washer along with some darks, we then got ready to hit blockbusters as a game oh wanted had been reduced today.

We came back and i made some homemade southern fried chicken wedges and beans, whilst it was cooking me and oh sorted ds1 room out and bagged old/broken toys and moved his room around to make room for the new toys as i am preganant with ds2 so need help lifting as i only have 3 months to go.

I have then ironed some fresh curtains and hung them, cleaned the kitchen, mopped everywhere, vaccumed, hung the washing on the airer and whilst doing all of this i had put the chilli con carne on in the slow cooker so i could consentrate on getting order in the house, weve got a ton of recycling to do i hope the bin men are due soon not had any dates from them yet but i hope they are prepared lol

Hope everyone has had a great xmas/boxing day so far xx

Tomorrow i have more jobs to do as we moved in a few weeks ago and this is a smaller property and im trying to do some decluttering once a day as its overwhelming, tomorrow is bag everything up that needs going and get rid of it.
