Hi everyone - hope you all had a lovely Christmas!:)
Not much to report - went up M&D's for xmas dinner, very nice, got some money, came home about 5.30 and went to bed an hour later. DS went to his dad's. Woke at 10pm, read for a bit, then slept very badly - too hot, too cold, and most of all thirsty! DS gone to carnival at the SECC today with his friends. Can't seem to get moving at all today, feeling a bit glum but I don't really know why!:o
Hugs to any messies who are unwell xxx0 -
cat501 and everyone who is feeling a bit gloomy:grouphug:
It might be post Xmas exhaustion or the short dark days of winter - felt a bit like that to-day after my daughter left this morning - I moped about all day and did nothing 'til i came on here and read the posts.
After reading camNolliesMummy - I got up - rushed to daughter's bedroom and stripped the bed, rammed the sheets etc into the washing machine - it took all of a couple of minutes and at least I feel I've done something. It never dawned on me to even contemplate washing to-day - I feel very virtuous now - wait til she rings me later and I tell her I've the sheets in the wash - she'll never believe it!!Treat the Earth well,It was not given to you by your parents,It was loaned to you by your children.Masai proverb0 -
Cat try not to be too tough on yourself, at this time of your it is common for spirits to dip especially after Christmas. Make sure that you take time to do somethings you really enjoy, even if that is just watching bad TV.Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0

thanks beanrua and Rummer, I know what it is really, thinking of DD1's gf and her poor, poor family, and reading some stuff DD1 had written recently, so sad and painful. Now I feel guilty for giving her a hard time too
btw will be deleting this in the next day or two just in case she finds it and goes ape:o
anyway, just found out DDs are coming back on Wednesday instead of Friday so I need to get cracking really quickly! Was hoping to do a bit of painting too, might get it done, might not:)
Lol Rummer, I got an Indian takeaway menu through the door this morning, it's a blinking conspiracy!:D0 -
Hello everyone, and Merry Boxing Day to you all. Please may I join in? I'm sitting here in a small but relatively tidy corner of our family house, surrounded by 20 years of accumulated chaos. When we unwrapped our presents yesterday, we managed to perch on a couple of chairs in the conservatory by the tree, but the kids all sat on the floor as the other chairs were all full of books etc., and it's got to the stage where I just can't ignore it, or stand it, any more. Long ago I had a go at following Flylady, but couldn't hack the endless reminders etc., not having a lot of spare time as at that point I had 5 kids to ferry round, keep appointments for, help with homework, feed etc., and I've totally fallen off the wagon since. Still seem to spend every spare moment cooking, washing, shopping & driving young adults from A to B, somehow, when not helping my elderly parents clear out their family home before downsizing.
So I don't have a lot of time for sorting stuff out, and am constitutionally unable to throw genuinely-useful stuff "away" although I can give it away perfectly happily! But I also sell stuff (i.e. vintage things) in my shop, and some of the stuff encumbering our lives has been acquired to do up & sell on, which I am quite successful at. But as my business has got bigger, I find I'm running really hard to stay still; people are bringing stuff to me that they've always known was too good to throw out, and giving it to me to do up & sell on, which is lovely and so generous of them - BUT I'm drowning in STUFF! Even my shop is starting to look horribly cluttered & disorganised, which is Not Good... I haunt our local Freecycle group, looking for "wanted" ads to answer, and offer stuff at least once a week too, and take anything decent enough to charity shops, but it keeps on flowing in somehow like an endless tide... Ooooer, written down, that does look like a list of excuses.
So I really, really need help motivating & organising myself (and other members of the household too) to get - and keep - this ghastly mess sorted out, please. But, if at all possible, without just throwing things away that really are useful, even if not to me!Angie - GC Oct 25: £467.21/£500: 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 40/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0 -

Hi all. Had a tidy and clean. The kitchen had every baking tin used so a good scrub needed.
Found another rat dead in the kitchen, the cats must think we need feeding. Im getting fed up with them now and if it was not for seeing the cats catching them in the park Id be thinking it was a rat investation.
Glad to see new people and old.
Hope I did not offend anyone in my earlier post regarding oh and his wind.0 -
