Hope the tree is coming along nicely buffy! Helen how are you doing? I don't know if I can bear to watch the programme about hoarding, it's too close for comfort!

I think I may have finished for the night now - still a few bits to put away and cleaning the sitting room to do, but study/dining room and kitchen are done. I'm out tomorrow so will probably do that on Friday.

Yorkshirelass, I normally have flu over Christmas! For the last 3 years I've been really ill for Christmas day. This year, fingers crossed, I'm doing ok... just got over a cold so maybe that's it for now. Hope you feel better soon, it's such a struggle when you don't feel up to much.

  • It really isn't too close for comfort Jps, honestly I doubt anyone of us have TWO house filled with stuff.

I saw the forthcoming attractions, he was crawling through the top part of his door to get into one room. There was stuff piled EVERYWHERE. Now I will admit to having the conservatory being a mess of presents, guinea pig run, work and paperwork and only having one path to get to the curtains.

God writing that down has made me feel rather sick.

    blimey.

    On with the tree!
    Nevertheless she persisted.

Yorkshirelass - how about a Poinsettia for the nursing home? My grandma is in a home this year for the first time and that is what I'm planning to get her - something to brighten up the room and bring a little bit of Christmas cheer but not clutter that'll get in the way for the rest of the year (she killed the last one with the heat in her own house in about 3 days!)

Managed to make myself feel really poorly on Sunday morning by being overzealous with the bleach spray trying to tackle the bathroom (we have a serious mould problem in this house which won't go away until the central heating gets connected). Although I did wake up feeling carp on Sunday so could be sickening for something that won't quite come out.

And on Monday OH went for a hernia op so I spent the day at the hospital waiting for him to come round from his anaesthetic. Op went really well but he wasn't ready to come home Monday evening so I ended up leaving him there at half 10 and coming home via McD's coz I hadn't eaten anything all day. Had to be back at the hosptial early to collect him so have been really tired ever since.

Since he's been home, I've been doing my florence nightingale bit but all the motivation to clean, tidy, wrap, launder, iron (yeah right!), and generally be the domestic goddess that I was hoping to be had completely disappeared. I spent a good half hour this morning trying to decide between wrapping presents, putting laundry on, washing up last nights dinner pots or making more breakfast because I was still hungry. Only came out of my reverie when the door needed answering coz OH had some packages delivered. Not my xmas pressies worse luck!

Managed to stick a load in the washing machine & some of it has just been hung out while I've been on the phone with my cousin but the rest is still in the laundry basket. Half of the washing up got done but the water got too cold and greasy and so the rest has been left. Still no wrapping but that doesn't need doing till xmas eve coz cousin was confirming that we're all meeting up to exchange gifts then. We're supposed to be going to the pub for the quiz tonight - maybe I can persuade OH to take me there for dinner so I don't need to cook!

We're kinda the opposite - we've tried to fit 3 houses worth of stuff into one house! OH and I have just moved in together and haven't had chance to sort through our duplicates of stuff yet and he has recently inherited a friend's estate so we've got all sorts of useful stuff from her house to find a home for too. In some ways, its 4 houses worth because I used to work away and never got round to sorting out my flat/house duplications before I moved here either!

    Evening

Just popping in to say I am still feeling grim so the house has gone to pieces :(. Exhausted and feeling nauseous heading to bed, I will try and pop in properly over the next few days.

Keep up the good work ladies (and gentlemen if there are any) :)

Still got a couple of presents to buy, why do I always leave the difficult ones until the last minute? I am hoping my cousin doesnt call round with presents for my kids because I havent got her son anything yet!! Oh and any ideas for a 97 year old lady who lives in a nursing home?? Might see if I can get my Mum to have the kids tomorrow for a couple of hours and get it all finished.

We got an elderly aunt a window bird feeder one year as she was in a home & enjoyed seeing the birds come to feed. Depends how well they are & what they enjoy I suppose! Have you looked on the Grabbit Board - always give some good ideas at good prices!

Well he didn't take me to the pub for dinner so I had to wash up in order to have some clean pans to make dinner in! But he has offered to drive to the pub quiz so that I can have a drink. Not sure he should drive yet but he's gonna drive there so we can see how it goes - I'll only have a drink if I'm sure he can drive home!
