My home is a mess

  • Hello everyone, my home is STILL a mess. Despite my best intentions I cannot seem to get on top of the housework.
The only clean, tidy room in the house is the bathroom. DH painted it a few weeks ago and I can keep on top of that.
Kitchen/diner/my office - is still a shambles. Table littered with wrapping paper, cards and various other clutter. My desk is groaning under the pile of papers/receipts/other clutter on it. Also have washing drying on the airer in here. No where else to put it.
Living room - just needs a general tidy up.
Bedrooms - spare room bed somewhere underneath a pile of presents. Also lots of things in there (boxes for tree and decorations) which need to be stored until the New Year. Our bedroom needs a general clean and tidy.
DS room - don`t go in there unless absolutely necessary
Hall, stairs, landing - not too bad but need to clean the dirty marks of the walls. How does that happen? Also need to go a buy a runner for the hall. We have a light carpet and are currently using an off cut for a mat inside the door.
One thing I have acheived is to nearly finish the door curtain. I`ve had the fabric for a year and never got around to making it. Just need to hand stitch the hem now.
Good luck with your efforts everyone.
  • Frugal: Sorry to hear about your disappointment. Hope you can get together with your friend soon, everyone needs a mutual support club, especially at this time of the year.
I put my back out last night through sitting on the floor and swivelling and reaching to wrap last minute presents. How come the scissors always hide under your feet and the sticky tape migrates to the furtherest corner of the room?
Off to hobble round shops for a Panetonne for DS2. He's upset if he doesn't get one for Christmas.
    Normal people worry me.
  • Well done everyone you're all going along really well

Imataloss - break the jobs down into small managable chunks - do 1 job and feel the glow from doing it and then move onto another one - remember to feel the glow after you've done each job. Does it help to make a list and then cross each job off as you do it - I LOVE a list lol - they're everywhere in my house

Rummer - how are you today, not to ill or stressed I hope

Cat - how was the night out

Hobsons - know exactly what you mean about the scissors and the tape - I'm sure the naughty elves have something to do with that - hope your back eases through the day

JPS - how are the muscles today

Emm - have a good day

I have done the Xmas Food shop - no last minute rushing around in the supermarket for me hehe. All fresh stuff had good dates on. All put away now with instructions to DH not to touch!!

Downstairs however is minging and DH is now in bed as he worked through the night so clear up operatiopn will have to wait till tomorrow, Friday or definately Saturday and I have to get DD's pressies wrapped - I feel Xmas Eve will be a late one

Have a good day everyone - love and get well hugs where needed

*flops in chair groaning* Ok, my muscles hurt a little bit and I'm now drowning in mess. The bedroom is now rearranged and tidy but definitely not the sparkling, shiny haven of newness that I would really like. Maybe a clean pair of curtains can still save the day....

Why, O Why, O Why did I decide to drag every last bit of kipple (gibble?) out of every last drawer and corner? Why can't I just shove it away, hoover and dust and call it a day? Actually that might be my strategy later today!

GreyQueen, I think my mum is like SG, one day she came over for her regular visit, sat down and sipped her coffee and nearly snorted it, exclaiming "Have you DUSTED?!" Well really - I dust AT LEAST once a year whether it needs it or not!

Helen the night was good! I am very ill today though, either that or still drunk! Badly need a good samaritan to go to the shop for me and buy me lots and lots of lucozade and other hangover cures! But I don't think it will happen!
And I got a few kisses from a nice man:p But being me, baulked at any sign of commitment like swapping phone numbers:D

Hugs everyone - going back to bed! xxx

lol, did the poor man do anything on the date to set your !!!!!!! radar off? I went on a date a few months ago, as soon as he vaulted over a railing, that was it over. I've never been so embarrassed in my entire life. Ditched him there and then in the middle of the town:D
