I frantically get the house acceptable - luckily she is one of those really good friends that come to see 'you' not the house

I have reached the back of the "shed"! Found some coal and small logs so will be using those up on the open fires. When the fuel runs out I'll seal the fireplaces till summer I think.
Now, I just have an almighty game of shed tetris to play (the excellent 'shed tetris' term comes courtesy of Mr Bloater!)
Wish me luck comrades, I shall emerge later, hopefully without any avalanches...I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

I bought my carpet cleaner (also have beige carpets - all over the house...bleugh) from the Bex Bissell interweb site. It was a reconditioned one but is still going strong - and the price was right!Normal people worry me.0

2 hours later - has jps emerged unscathed?:D
Took recycling out, took some more surplus tumblers to the charity shop, washed up, pointlessly hoovered the living room, finally stuck xmas cards up, decluttered a small surface (easy, all old school stuff, one pile for recycling and one for the bin), got DS's tea on (DDs out), all stuff most people could get done before they go to work! But I'm ridiculously chuffed with myself compared to what I was like a couple of months ago:)0 -

Thanks, my old one was a Bissell and it was brilliant, I'd really like another one of those so I'll have a look:j0 -
I was v good last night and put everything in the SC to make leek and potato soup - just blended it, dished up a bowlful... and it is absolutely disgusting _pale_ Totally inedible. I have no idea why...
Now thats interesting, the same thing happened to me. I love my Slow Cooker but have only once attempted to make soup in it and it was awful. I ended up throwing mine out too and have never tried it again. Maybe soup needs more heat to blend the ingredients together ... or something like that ..0 -
Here I am Cat! Not only unscathed but showered changed and eating dinner! I ache a bit, but the shed tetris went quite well and I now just have the ordinary tidy and clean up to do downstairs. Upstairs is.. erm.. really, really bad!
Ah well. I'll try to get the bedroom done this week but have quite a bit to do out and about so not sure how much time I can spend on it. I'm the sort of person that needs a clear day on these things.I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

Cat - you're doing really well
JPS - has the shed claimed you or are you back
Frugal - shame about the soup, if we hear on the news on tv about severe dfrain blockages we'll know who to blame lol, hope your next batch is ok. I once made DH Key Lime Pie - it went in the bin and its never been made again!!
Visit to Father Xmas kippled - its probably the last 1 I do until my kiddies have kiddies - they're growing up fast - DD declared that she wouldn't see him this year and that maybe Nana could give her the cost of the visit in cash so she could visit Claires shop - Nana agreed - more fool her!!!
I need to drag the kiddies out to a shop cos I'm out of a few things that I need - you'll hear them moaning when I tell them
Helen x
PS Went to B&Q to get some 75% off Xmas stuff and got all the wrap I need for next year - 6m rolls at 37p each - sorted!Projects made for craft fair - 40
1st fair on 13/4/14 :j0 -
brilliant jps, well done:T I always wish I had a shed/garage/attic/cellar/spare room just to shove stuff into but I suppose it's a good thing I haven't really!:D The cupboard-from-hell is bad enough!
Thanks Helen, and that's a great deal on wrapping paper, might pop in there tomorrow on the way back from Mr T if I have time. It's my old darts team's Xmas party tomorrow night so I need to go and buy a Santa hat! I'm taking very little money with me so last week's awful memory loss hopefully won't happen again!
couple more things ironed - steeling myself to go and clean the bath. I will have it done by quarter to eight, promise!
eta oh well 5 mins late, but it wasn't just a swish and swipe job, it was a scrubbing brush job! Knackered now!

Hi again!
Helen Jelly - thanks for the post to Frugal I think it was, about `you`re gonna regret it etc if you don`t get going now` It worked for me today!
MessyMare - re open fires, I really don`t have much of an ash problem. Ordinary open fire, a few sticks & a layer of coal (lit anytime between 4pm and 9.30 depending on shifts, etc) then logs for the rest of the evening. We usually get through one large log and a couple of small ones on an `early fire`, one medium log on a late-lit fire. I don`t have to take ashes out every day, just every 2 or 3. I think the logs make less ash than if it was just coal. I was glad to read your `walkies` went well too!
Frugal - hope your not getting a cold - come on, fight it off... & enjoy your friend`s visit. I know what you mean about deadlines & goalposts though! That`s me all over!
PurpleHeather - welcome back!
JPS - I have a `caravan tetris` going on right now!
Well done you lot who`ve got close to Organised. I`m envious, but nearly getting there!
KIPPLE - mostly makes me think of cake!(Bladerunner is an all-time classic though)
GIBBLE - many many years ago when chickens always had the innards tucked inside `em in a plastic bag, waaay back before I knew this, I performed a Culinary Mistake, which tasted more of plastic than innards and my 1st hubby never let me live it down, every time we had chicken he`d ask `did you take the gibbles out?`, and DS picked up on it, asking what `gibbles` were. He was told it meant `the bits you don`t want`. That stuck, and we still use the term, generally for organic waste!
Chez Emm`s Messy Report -
Today (laughingly called a `day off`) I`ve finished ALL wrapping for DD`s household - DD, her OH & 4 littlies, AND taken stuff to hers. Encouraging bit of space created upstairs... (her OH`s mum will store it for her to stop the kids rooting) also dropped off Mr T half-price leg of lamb & Sainsbob ham for them, more space in my fridge now) Tomorrow I`ll get her fruit & veg & spudsack & eggs from farm shop, plus ours, put list in today and dropped off pressie for veg-mans daughter. (MORE space upstairs) And dropped off tin of `Heroes` for the chaps (my heroes) at garage who look after my car.(MORE space).
Poo-picked, stocked up on dogfood/catfood, (LESS space!) ordered&paid 3 sacks coal (delivered this evening, thought it was thunder!) topped up gas card & electric key, did a MrT rapid visit (winebox trip as I don`t want to go there again till next year) Did a quick strike in Iceland, bread/milk/bacon & bought a frozen stuffed `turkey & ham roast`, cooked it and had some for supper (lazy of me but VERY nice) & loads left. Also 2 loads in WM.
Place is still a tip, but feels a little less congested. Picked OH up from work 8pm, & he remarked how nice it smells (the Iceland turkey & ham roast stuffing smells nice cooking, plus there were a row of his clean undies drying on nursery fireguard, & a slightly pine-smoke tang because eldest DGD has to WAVE a door before she goes through & closes it) Lots more evidence of DGD in residence, as she is the very ultimate Messy Mare, Bless `er, but she`s such a calm, bright, busy, sweet-natured child, the `laid back`messy component is part of that `never stroppy` personality. She was such a hysterical little tyrant until she was nearly 4, then she changed completely over a couple of months - didn`t start school till 5, by which time the teachers had a little angel to deal with, and she`s never been stroppy since. She`s just VERY Messy...
Tomorrow is the BIG PUSH for me. OK, today was rather pushy, but tomorrow more so.
KITCHEN - it`s a bomb-site, but it`s mostly pots & clutter, superficial stuff, so I`ll tackle that first, I don`t mind that so it`s a `warm-up` excercise, & I`ve done all the running around stuff today except last run to farmshop, & DD`s veg & that`s edge of town.
CHRISTMAS wrapping & decs - Aiming to get the rest of the wrapping done, tidy LR/hoover, tree up, & a few decs (tree & Nativity set most important) happy to report can still see settee since it was recently decluttered. AND getting meals organised for next 2 days when I`ll be working. Whatever I can get done tomorrow, it`ll have to be over early so I can get an early night, as I`ve got 2 longday shifts after that, and it`s likely to be hectic on the ward too. I`ve got Friday 23rd, and Christmas Eve off, then longdays Christmas & boxing Day (OH working then too) My hope is to have done enough tomorrow to be able to take Friday as a REAL day off, and go down the pub with OH, do final bits on Saturday, then get on with it...ward is all decorated , patients & their folks are (mostly) resigned to make the best of it, so are the colleagues on shift over Christmas. I really wouldn`t swap this bit even if I`d won the lottery!0
