Well I really need to make a start on some sort of tidying or cleaning.
I think if I feel up to it tonight I'll clean the downstairs loo.

Candy girl I bet you needed that rest.
Well Iv just sat down after cleaning the kitchen and putting a wash on. Was out early this morning getting a few bits in for xmas. Had a sleep this aftenoon with two of the cats under the covers.
The hailstones were like bullets this morning and the oh ended up with bruises on his hand as he was holding his walking stick. Should of heard the screams out of him, lol. Nasty I am.
Have bought some calor gas as back up heat . House was freezing this afternoon.
Hello to all the new people. Hopefully we can all give eachother tips.0 -
Hi everyone:D
Frugal that was SO good! And Save Dosh, what a brilliantly helpful post! I try not to iron (what am I saying - I DON'T) but I still sometimes find t shirts and things need to be done, but if I can get away with just smoothing them out I do, the kids moan but body heat really does drop the creases outAs for freecycle, I wish I had stuff worth giving but I really don't, I have no excuse anyway as the charity shop is just round the corner.
We have our tree and most decorations except the ceiling ones up, very early for us! Looks great,DD1 did most of it, I wasn't sure she'd want stuff up in the living room this year as she has slept in there since her girlfriend died in January and I wasn't sure she'd want to be thinking about last Christmas and how different it was, but she did
Afraid I've been in my sick bed feeling rotten all day, that's the bad news, the really good news is, mentally, I really want to DO something! Have picked up some rubbish, and had a quick go of my new hoover (a real bargain I reckon) but my head's dropping again....before I shuffle back to bed though I'm going to go paperless with my bank, one less thing coming through the door, have already gone paperless with anything else I can. Will try to persuade the girls to do the same.
Happy Tuesday everyone - WFF I am fine either for this Friday or the next, or Saturdays!:beer:0 -
:j I am fabulous :j (and very modest :rotfl:)
Welcome to all the new people!
Well I got in from work, after whizzing round the supermarket to get pudding, and have been a whirlwind ever sinceso far I have:
- put on the tumble dryer (not very MSE but needs must)
- loaded and put on the dish washer
- washed down the kitchen
- made quiche
- made root veggie pie
- got my DD to clean out the beasts
- fed the animals
- put out the bins
- sorted and taken out the recycling
- cleared the living room table

I am pleased that your DD is feeling able to celebrate after what must have been a tough year.
Today I should have been in my sick bed so I know exactly how you feel, it is rubbish being sick.
I will do my best to pop in on Fridaywhat time is the party starting and do we have to clean during it :rotfl:

I've had a quick glance through a few pages of this thread and what a relief -its not just me who lives in utter chaos !
Due to ill health, both me and OH, things have just piled up, motivation went walkabout, and it was only after OH had a nasty operation, bit of close shave that we decided lifes too short so some of the money my mum left me when she died is now being used...............we had a brand new kitchen -first time ever ! And you wouldn't believe the 'stuff' that I'd accumulated at the back of cupboards and drawers, not to mention the pantry. OH has wanted it knocked down for years -says its just a glory hole for any rubbish - and he's not wrong. So, out came the pantry and everything in it..........some pretty storage jars that never got used I can recycle for christmas pressies -in fact quite a few kitchen type pieces to make up a couple of 'kitchen hampers' (save a few pennies if not pounds!).
Garage was all cleared out earlier on when our 'odd job' chap did raised beds for the garden.......garage quickly filled up with builders stuff and the garden started to resemble a builders yard ! Kitchen all done and looked lovely..............then we went on to a back room that had become an 'indoor shed' -another home for rubbish. That was cleared out, the washing machine put in there with the freezers and boiler and a cubilce built to house a downstairs loo. Back wall knocked down and door put in for easy access to the garden from washing machine and from garden to loo.
So.........its seemed that as we;ve cleared out stuff, we've filled up with other stuff but as its building materials that will vanish when the builders do -hopefully at the weekend.
Meantime I've got boxes of 'stuff' still to get rid of........mums tea set..........nothing special but I kept the teapot from it, jug and matching beakers, pine wall clock (glass broke off the face) mugs various and so on............plus bookshelves need thinning out desparately.
So, some things will go as christmas pressies, others on freecycle and I've vowed never to haunt charity shops and boot fairs again -well at least if I do, not to buy something because it happens to be cheap.
Sorry for long post but I was just so thankful it wasn't just me who was in a mess.
But thankfully, we're near the end of it and as I can't get out of the house so often now I'm less likely to buy random stuff to fill the gaps I'm left with and if I want something now I can at least find it (well I will when all the clutter is totally gone)
Thanks for this inspiring thread:) and one again, apologies for droning on and on..................:)I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

thanks Rummer, I'm glad too, as GF was living here all through December, Xmas and New Year until she suddenly passed away, I really didn't think DD would want to so it's a positive
And I just don't know how you do it! I was up and about yesterday but probably shouldn't have been, I've really felt it today, I know I'm so lucky I can rest up and try to get rid of it. Aren't over the counter cold remedies such a waste of money though?:(
I was thinking about what prettyinpink said about cleaning the downstairs toilet (glad I only have one lol!) and how funnily enough that's one job I really don't mind doing. The bath is another matter though! Another thing I like doing is cleaning light switches because it takes seconds and makes me feel briefly like a flylady:D What do other people really not mind doing?
eta welcome Mary, make your posts as long as you like, we all love reading about other people's situation! It will be nice once the builders get their stuff out, hopefully before Christmas??I love your signature too!

Hi all,
Still not time to catch up big sorry. Ok this friday it is then will we say 8.30pm? Rummer all cleaning is banned lol. I think it should be all christmassy. Chat on xmas songs, xmas films, decorations.....whatever we like just no cleaning. I promise to catch up later and I will check on on thursday night. xI love MSE freebies and comps. Thanks posters0 -
I don't mind putting stuff in bins. You know when you clear out the fridge (not very MSE) but chucking out out of date food, sorting out the fridge. and I like sorting things for charity shops.
I hate emptying the food recycling bin and (although I love them dearly) I hate cleaning out the guinea pigs.
ooo I hate emptying the dish washer!Nevertheless she persisted.0 -
OMG
As if the house isn't bad enough... DD2 chose tonight to sit on the loo with upset tummy (TMI but both ends), aim for the bin but ended up puking not only in the bin, up the walls and all over the floor in the bathroom (bless her, she did try to aim for the bin... My kids are trained early to puke into suitable receptacles)....
Thank God for skint teenage neighbours who will do anything for a tenner!
Ashamed to admit that I paid my dear neighbour, who is 17 and who I have known since she was 7, to clear it up
She had previously asked to borrow my lappy, and when she turned up, DD2 had just puked and was in the bath so bless her, she volunteered (for money) to sort it out.... Its more than I would have done for a tenner
So, thank God, I have a clean bathroom, a dosed up DD2 and a bowl by the bed just in case
I hope its not a looooooooooooooooooooong night!!!
Must stock up on night time cough stuff, and book a trip to Egypt for more anti sickness/!!!!!! meds as they actually work, unlike the stuff here!Putting these winter preps here so I don't forget!
