hi buffy - oh dear hun, if you've been signed off with stress you should be resting or doing fun things, not housework! But I do understand why you want to do some. Other people here are much better qualified than me to answer, but how about just giving yourself one small thing to do each day and posting your plans here? Like, if you have clean sheets, change the sheets, or stick one load of washing on. Then if you feel like doing something else, you can, if not you've already achieved something! EVERYTHING is an achievement! And break things down into really small tasks, like 10 minutes post sorting.
But really, try and use as much time as you can to look after yourself!
oh and btw, I found posting what I planned to do helped - but if I didn't do it, it really didn't matter because everyone is so lovely and I've never felt in the least bit bad about it!0 -
My lovely boss lady came in and helped me with the rest of the mail order stuff, so very happy now
We always have such a giggle together, we're terrible really.
In fact...I'm in such a good mood I may have to follow in Helen's footsteps and be a bit minxy when I get home from work! This will probably be TMI in the extreme but it's felt a bit like we're down to once a season! Definitely got to change that...
Have a fabby evening everyone, (((hugs))) all round and remember, when the house is an absolute midden, it can only do two things- stay the same, or get better! *sings the only way is up*

When it comes to sorting post, I try to at least divide it between "definite junk" and "might be important". Next time I have a burst of motivation, I might then sort through the "might be worth keeping" to identify "really must act on that now", "wasn't so important after all" and "should be filed somewhere" - although bursts of motivation can be so few and far between that I'm usually back to the junk/important step by the time I look at it again.
I have boxes and boxes of the "should be filed somewhere" piles that have moved with me from, oh I think the last 3 (or maybe 4) places I've lived. Last time I looked in there, there were payslips from my previous employer - and I've been in this job for nearly 10 years!
When we have a shiny new finished house (completion planned mid-2013!), I WILL get a filing cabinet and I WILL sort through my boxes. Until then I'm looking at it as just storing up firelighters for when we get a woodburner installed!0 -
Hi everyone. Welkl last night I cleaned the kitchen so it was spotless this morning. Did more washing last night and a bit of a tidy up in the hall and bathroom.
Iv just put a curtain up across the kitchen door as we dont have a door and its freezing. Keeping all curtains closed to conserve heat.
Winter is finally here in the North. We have has hailstones, snow, thunder and lightning. Mind you I really feel for those of you in Scotland with all the snow fall.
Im going to tidy as I go along. A tip for everyone put a small plastic box in each room and anything that does not belong put in. At the end of the week sort. I also use plastic carrier bags in each room, although not if you have small children. I put in any paper , rubbish and then empty as needed. I know it sounds simple but it does help in keeping on top of things. Another tip ,have a look around the room and take at least one thing out that does not belong and put in the right place. Now Iv taught granny to suck eggs, lol.
Chicken cassorolle on ,roast potatoes and a rice pudding on. Tea now on.0 -
Phew, one day at work and the thread has gone wild
Welcome to all the fabulous new people who have come to join us, always lovely to have new faces. Currently I am working on the advert method of tidying which is one of my personal favourites! I only clean during ad breaks and it is amazing how much you can get done in that time!
I have been in for less than half an hour and the family has been fed, the dishwasher is on and the washing machine is whirring away, there is no stopping me these days
Still full of the cold and coughing endlessly which is really annoying (to me and all around me) so glad that I have all the things I need in the house as the roads are grim here and it is freezing
Helen I could not agree with you more, when it comes to family and happiness then tidiness takes a back seat. As long as my home is within reason then I would rather play with my DD, spend time with my OH or pursue hobbies and interests. I don't want to be remembered for my hoovering skills
Mind you I did have a chuckle to myself at all the "quality" time that you are spending with your OHs it is like spring round hereTaking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -

rofl it certainly is! Please spare a thought for a poor old soul who has a 17 yr old DD who tells her that they think that, given the length of time elapsed (ahem), said poor old soul could actually be eligible to join a convent:eek:0 -
Thought this was worthy of sharing with you lovely Messies
This one for all the Mums out there........ A man came home from work and found his 3 children outside, still in their pyjamas, playing in the mud, with empty food boxes and wrappers strewn around garden, The door of his wife's car was open, as was the front door to the house and no sign of the dog, walking in the door, he found an even bigger mess. A lamp had been knocked over, .........the throw rug was wadded against one wall, In the front room the TV was on loudly with the cartoon channel, the family room was strewn with toys and various items of clothing. In the kitchen, dishes filled the sink, breakfast food was spilled on the counter, the fridge door was open wide, dog food was spilled on the floor, a broken glass lay under the table, and a small pile of sand was spread by the back door. He quickly headed up the stairs, stepping over toys and more piles of clothes, looking for his wife. He was worried she might be ill, or that something serious had happened. He was met with a small trickle of water as it made its way out the bathroom door. As he peered inside he found wet towels, scummy soap and more toys strewn over the floor. Miles of toilet paper lay in a heap and toothpaste had been smeared over the mirror and walls. As he rushed to the bedroom, he found his wife still curled up in the bed in her pyjamas, reading a novel. She looked up at him, smiled and asked how his day went. He looked at her bewildered and asked, 'What happened here today?' She again smiled and answered, 'You know every day when you come home from work and you ask me what in the world I do all day? ''Yes," was his incredulous reply. She answered, 'Well, today I didn't do it.!!!Putting these winter preps here so I don't forget!

Frugal - love it!
was thinking while I was at work...one of the reasons I so need to get the house sorted and ticking over, and the debt paid off, and the weight off, and my business up and running, is that we so want to have babies. At the moment it's me putting the brakes on this as I guess I'm frightened by it all. I can't cope now- how could I cope with babies? SO, I'm going to start getting my ducks in a row! As an aside, I haven't had the quality time yet but we have had a good old giggle togetherwhich to me is just as good! Done a mountain of washing up, OH lit the fire and sorted out the hoover, and I finished the shopping (also had an argument with a gobby teenage boy, which I won, w00t!)
Hope everyone is having a good day
