    Hello Everyone,

Another newbie recommended to join you on my welcome thread. There is no doubt that I meet the criteria!

My house is a mess and I must get going. I have a day free today but again I'm sat on the sofa. How do I get going?? I think I should start upstairs as that creates more mess downstairs - washing etc.

Loving the board found lots of tasty recipes but think I should just get on top of the house this week and leave the domestic godess stuff untill next week!

Nice to meet you all :)
  • Welcome Prettyinpink & Pickle - the more of us the merrier!
I`ve always kept a messy handbag, and lost items when changing bags - until early last year when I bought 2 leather bags £1 each at the car-boot. They`re `Gigi` (if that means anything?) and they have little compartments - for pen, cards, and other bits - I`ve stuck to using these 2 ever since (one brown & one black - all I need really) The worst messy bag I`ve had was a big shoulder pouch made of that really thick leather, everything just chucked in...but loved it for ages till the srap went!

Pickle, that `where do I start?` feeling is SO familiar! I usually find myself starting in the kitchen, tackling stuff above waist-level while much looking out of window watching birds on the feeders, and debating with myself where to hit next!

Helen - enjoy your day out. Think we`ll be doing likewise as OH has just got up and smelled the lamb cooking, and suggested we go down the pub this evening (we rarely get the chance, between his shifts & mine but we do like the early evening there, home by 8pm) so am now plotting my day around this idea.
I`ve already hung up one load of washing, refilled the birdfeeders and poo-picked. I`m on 3rd coffee now, next I`ll put another load in WM (my uniforms so I can forget them till a week today- YAY!!), then peel/wash veg for this evening, plus enough for tomorrow for a hot-potty leftovers thing, so not much cooking tomorrow means I MIGHT just tackle a big bedroom tidy..need to build up to that one!
My old Daftie-dog also had a burst of energy this morning while I was doing outside tasks - `galloping` up & down garden path like an old hippo, and being all waggy (smells lamb cooking?) but must`ve tired herself out and is now snoring (doggie-disco-nap?)
Dragging self back to kitchen now...

Off to do the washing up now because I want to re-use the slow cooker pot again for tomorrow's dinner...

Just as I got up to wash up, OH decided that it was time for bed. I started off thinking that I'll just wash the slow cooker pot ready for this morning and then I thought no damnit - I've taken inspiration from this thread and I've boiled a kettle full of water so I'm bloomin well gonna do all the washing up... managed to get through all the pots and pans on the side but the pans still lurking on the hob will be there to greet me when I get home!

Still its an easy dinner tonight - deliberately overdid the veg + roasties last night so we can have bubble&squeak, and I managed to get a couple of chicken quarters into the slow cooker this morning so I'll spend tonight's cooking time putting the kitchen back the way it should be.

That's if OH doesn't have me humping tiles up onto the roof which is what he was threatening this morning. Well he can't have it both ways - its either a clean and tidy house or a labourer to boss around on the building site!

Sighhhhhh....I'm knackered already! I had a sneaky jam donut after my first work post office run of the day, it was scrummy and has kept me oddly full for the past hour or so (thankee cambridge diet for shrinking my bottomless pit of a stomach!) so that was my little treatie of the day. I honestly don't know how I'm going to keep this up all day, plus do all the things I've got waiting for me at home...may just settle for doing ten minutes on the stepper (how sad is this- every day I exercise, I give myself a little silver star in my diary! Operant conditioning has ALWAYS worked on me- I get really sad if I can't do all my planned exercise to achieve my shiny silver star sticker). No idea what to cook the B man for dinner, I may end up leaving him to fend for himself like the callous cow I am!

Our greatest weakness lies in giving up; always try just one more time

Im so sick of the state of the house and i feel like if i start it just gets messy again so quickly tht theres no point! But i have to do it, but my biggest problem is the laundry. afternoon all, just a quickie, welcome to the new people, great to have you! MM the star thing isn't silly at all, I think it's brilliant! skint a lot, I'm the same as you with laundry, so much to be done (when the washing machine finally gets fixed), and more to the point so much to IRON!! ugh - so many times I've said I'll keep on top of the ironing and I never do it! Things sit there for....I'd better say months but it may actually be worse:o My other bugbear is paperwork. I think nearly every drawer/cupboard/flat surface in the house is crammed full of carp! One thing I have managed to do since coming on here is keep the hall tidy and deal with post as it comes in, also putting up the coat hooks has made all the difference, if things aren't dumped in the hall then it's not automatic to dump other stuff. And at least I can open my door to visitors now, even if letting them in is still a bit of an issue! :D

Have reserved a new hoover in Argos, only £80 but really good reviews and it couldn't be any worse than what I've got (I'm a hoover serial killer) so probably going to pick that up soon. Still feeling carp with the cold, will try and get on later to say hello properly xxx

eta dusted with snow here too, I was pretty disappointed with last night's fall! It may just be starting again now but it's very light! :(
  • Welcome back Princess & xxLouise.
(I only popped back in to see if Cat`s boiler saga had any developments yet! But I DO so agree about the paperwork thing - that`s the job I put off most, while washing-up is the task I always feel I can tackle first..)
I`ve been quite a busy Messy today, 3 loads in the WM, lamb cooked & veg prepped for tonight & tomorrow, nipped into Morrisons for bread & milk & a few bits, refilled birdfeeders AGA
IN, plus now it`s really cold put out some fat-balls for them, & put the heating on. Place looks like a Chinese laundry but otherwise not TOO bad. Will make a fire when we get home from pub & dim ligh...won`t look too bad, hopefully!

lol emm, well there have been developments! My man came (when I was on the phone to him this morning he said he talked to me more than his wife:rotfl:), he didn't replace all the hot water stuff as he said he would, apparently it was just a case of a switch thing going out of sync - so it's ok NOW.....but I'm not confident!

I did wish him a happy christmas when he left though because I sincerely don't wish to see him before that!:D

eta enjoy the pub! I'm supposed to be going pubbing tomorrow, to see the girls in my old darts team (had to give it up this season as I couldn't afford it) but the way I'm feeling with the cold I'm not sure I'll go - still, there aren't many things half a dozen vodkas or so won't temporarily cure! :D
  • Hello

    My house is a mess.

everywhere I look something needs to be tidied or put away or fixed. I have been signed off work for stress for a week and I fully expected to be able to get on with the house work but I am over whelmed. SO much post to sort, clothes to wash. sheets to change books to give away furniture to move around shopping to put away Christmas presents to sort out...... I have let it all go to pot.

    any advice?

    xxx
