  • Giggles are GOOD! Extra good when shared - here on forum, at work, home or wherever! Enjoyed evening out, but was thinking there how lucky I was/am. Warm home & food to come home to. I caught a bit of the Radio 4 appeal (St Martins, homeless) and it`s stuck in my head, the more content I feel(however Messy) the more I think should count our Blessings. Cold weather kills.Look out for elderly neighbours, feed the birds...watch out for the icy patches.
  • Hi All,

Not had time to catch up............been busy cleaning............only kidding! I did notice that a few of you were up for a messies night in. How about this friday night?. Promise to catch up soon.

  • Have not been on here lately, hope everyone is feeling good. Big hello to all the newbies. Someone said about LAUNDRY, I don't presonally have a problem with laundry. What i do is when i have enough for a load, i wash it, shake well and then hang to dry. I DO NOT IRON. I think this probably helps. When the clothes are dry, they are then folded really well, which takes away the need to iron, they never have any creases. I would highly recommend this method, or shirts i hang in the wardrobe when dry. Occasionally, the odd thing might need a quick going over, but not usually, as any left over creases fall out. My mum used to take dry washing and then throw them into a laundry basket for ironing, she would have mountains to do, she now buys clothes that don't crease and sends my dads shirts to the dry cleaners for pressing. Cant afford that myself. PAPERWORK, this is my biggest mess and not even opening the letters. All my bills are paid direct debit, so im not worried about missing bills, but i do freeze sometimes at just the thought of doing it, but i did most of it tonight, as i was panicking as i thought i had a hospital appointment today and did not know where the letter was, but turns out its next week, sometimes i write lists, but i do better when i post them. I have got my place fairly straight now, apart from pockets here and there, BUT there is a spare room lurking which is piled high to the ceiling with stuff i put in there from clearing the rest of the place. Because i know that nothing is actually going to make it to the charity shop i now put stuff on freecycle, which is really easy once you know how, so people just come and pick things up. What has worked for me is chosing one room at a time, if it does not have a home find one, otherwise your forever walking around with things not knowing where to put them (or is that just me), then move onto the next room, meanwhile keeping the done room tidy, eventually, if you keep chipping away, you can make a big improvement, i too also do the advert thing. I will hang washing, maybe sort paperwork (not too often) etc. during adverts. About 6 or seven weeks ago, i was so depressed, i was having a kitchen installed, the kitchen was gutted, i had no washing machine, no cooker, just a sink in there All the dishes, pots etc were piled in my lounge, along with all the food out of my cupboards, the cooker and fridge freezer stood in the hall and an inch of dust, that settled when they installed new electrics into the wall, was on everything. I just sat there crying, which is how i found this thread,. Lots of us have been there, are there. I think chipping away little and often is best. Sorry for being so long winded, I hope some of my suggestions help someone.

Didn't get anywhere tidying yesterday as I went up to London for DGD's nativity play. Lasted all of 20 minutes and took me away from home for more than 6 hours! Well worth it though as the littlies were wonderful!
Totally knackered when I got home - just about managed to get supper organised and then sat down with a stiff drink! However, I have loaded the DW and set it running, so the kitchen looks tons better now. Have lots of overdue paperwork to tackle today so not sure the messy house will notice much difference really... Oh well! Nice to know at least I'm not the only one lacking on the home goddess front!
