My home is a mess

Right, I am going to peel myself off the couch and put on some laundry.Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0

I've not been on in a couple of days as its been a stressful few and I haven't got anywhere with cleaning! I've been pretty much offered a job (depending on how well meeting the child goes on sat) which is bringing all sorts of stress - children, dogs etc but it is good news . I must get the house sorted though as working and a mess is not good!0

Apologies for the duplicate post. My iPhone is playing up!
I'm actually cleaning!!0 -
I was holding the car door open for my very frail nan in law before & the wind whipped it out of my hands:eek:
How it missed her i'll never know but I feel queasy thinking about it.Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud.0 -
My worst windy event (oh that sounds bad) was just almost losing my work parcels as I stepped outside the door to run the gauntlet at the post office. I didn't realise you were up north too Rummer, my apologies!
Our greatest weakness lies in giving up; always try just one more time0 -
Hi Messies!
YL, I loved the knitted duck story, & Buffy, I loved the bathtime tale too. Did you bath all 3 at once or do them in turn? I`m chuckling just imagining it. You really are lovely folks here!
Helen, I thought ALL children ere great actors - especially little girls, in my experience!
Pickle, congrats on the new job, but don`t stress, I`m sure you`ll be fine - just muddle through & prioritise.
Windy troubles - those of you living in the `red alert` areas do have my sympathies, and I hope you, your dear ones & your homes stay safe. The very idea of that scale of warning here would terrify me - it`s very windy here in North Wales now, and that`s bad enough but nothing like as bad as some parts are getting it. (I`ved lived in 2 houses that have suffered severe roof damage in high winds, so it`s the one type of weather that always makes me uneasy now!)
Nothing really constructive done today. I got up early, drove DGD to school, but felt really rotten & achy. I called DD (as requested last night) several times, but only got her voice mail, so gave up in the end & curled up on the (newly cleared) settee for an hour. Didn`t sleep, just got cosy & relaxed listening to a couple of Sherlock Holmes episodes on I-player. Then DS emerged & needed to go into town (& took ages faffing round getting ready too!) where we didn`t accomplish much...just got soaked & blown about going from shop to shop, then too hot & bothered inside the heated shops to concentrate on shopping as we`d both got so many layers on against the cold!
I`m STILL not doing anything Christmassy, just winding down with some Ibrufen (got face-ache) a cuppa and a read here, plus marinating a whoopsied piece of pork leg in some obscure brand of cheapo ginger wine. I have absolutely NO idea what it`ll be like, other than I shall serve it with some whoopsied red peppers & whoopsied fresh rice noodles. I found a jar of bamboo shoots in a corner when I cleaned kitchen floor yesterday, so they might go in as well. (Fortunately OH is very tolerant about my experiments, Bless`im, will try anything once, and is very honest so doesn`t falsely enthuse about stuff if he wasn`t too keen). I`ve got some whoopsied beef for the weekend so telling him that should pacify him if the ginger wine experiment goes wrong.
I`m glad I did the kitchen yesterday, and the LR doesn`t look too bad now the settee`s clear. Just wish I could shake off this achy face & stuffy head. Perhaps another cuppa...0 -
I never did get that laundry on, the will of the couch was just to strong to pull away from :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I have been looking at a few minimalist blogs and have a new attitude (well, a bit) which is to carry a plastic bag round each room and shove stuff in it which is not worth keeping... that could be rubbish, odd socks (altho these days I mostly wear odd socks) or any other useless clutter... every time you do it you can fill a bag and know that those things are never, ever going to need to be cleaned or tidied ever again :T which takes away the oooh should I really be throwing this away feeling!
Another tip that has helped me is to set the timer (on my phone) for 10 or 15 mins... Knowing that I only have to do that amount of time on any room makes the whole chore more manageable and its surprising what you can get done in 10 minutes!Putting these winter preps here so I don't forget!

Hi All,
Messiness not good today, I was doing quite well too :-( I've been on weather watch all day today, it was a bit wild in Fife today. We seem to have a bit of fence damage in the garden but it doesn't look too bad at the mo. I did write a list, I've managed to tick 2 things off in 2 days.
Catch with you all again tomorrow nightI love MSE freebies and comps. Thanks posters0
