Morning all
Just a quick visit as I'm working agin today - full service will be resumed tomorrow
I've caught up with the posts but have forgotten all I was going to say [I'm tired]
I'm workingextra shifts in a residential home foradults with Learning Dis, lovely lads but hard work, especially as I only do a couple of shifts a month so I have to go in each time and acclimatise myself again - love it though
Some tidying up done but not a lot - I'm by myself tomorrow afternoon so I'll get more done then
Have a good day everyone

Cat - I hope your boiler gets sorted properly, and SERIOUSLY well done on the cards, and the cleaning stuff - especially the hair-in-the-bath job.
I`m the worst culprit for moulting long hair in the bathroom, close second is DGD...and old Daftie-dog just moults prodigiously everywhere else, & the cat does sneaky moults usually on top of a pile of clean laundry waiting to go upstairs. Being a BLACK cat, she chooses the lighter coloured piles of course for better effect!
Snookey - we`ve occasionally had the same problem over the years with our cat bringing in `uninvited friends`. I got a couple of those sonic plug-in things a few years ago (an offer in our local newspaper, but have since seen similar things in garden & DIY shops) to encourage any `escapees`that we mightn`t have known about to leave home, and we don`t seem to have a mouse problem since then.
My friend is coming over this morning, first to her parents` where she`s staying for a long weekend, and we`re going to meet in town this afternoon, tea-&-cakes-&-another-pot-of-tea sort of thing. She`ll have had a long drive this morning so will welcome a quiet night in her old bed tonight, and I`ll be picking OH up from work 8pm & doing supper etc. This arrangement suits us all, so much more relaxed. It`s just a real pity I`m working next 3 days while she`s in the area.
This morning, I`ve put a load in WM fast-wash while I poo-picked, cleaned hearth & emptied ashes, did last nights` pots, showered shampood & conditioned, draped some washing around in doorways, plucked chin & cut toenails (while catching up with Archers on i-player) and soon going to go get dressed warmly for my afternoon out.
I hope it`s being a good day too for all you dear Messies.

Thanks Emm:D It's must be dull to read (though I like reading about everything people do, for inspiration) but what laurel said about writing down every little thing you get done really helps, so that's what I'm doing, I'm just doing it here instead of on paper! Hope you enjoy your day x
I also got those sonic plug ins a couple of years ago, for spiders, and touch wood we haven't had any massive ones since, only one or two small/medium ones which I can just about deal with. I did cover the air brick in my bedroom with tape though, because I had quite a few huge ones coming in there. This is how stupid I am - when I moved from a ground floor flat to a second floor, I thought spiders wouldn't bother their backsides climbing so high:o:o:o
Snookey I don't think I'll ever be a flylady lol! I love order and tidiness but I'm genetically a messy and always will be! And thanks for the book recommendation, I always go for the book rather than the film! and LOL@your OH! Will you ever let him live that down?
Nice to see you again jps! Hope your family member makes a full recovery soon! xx
Enjoy your day Helen, that sounds like very rewarding work. And how I'd love to have a hearth to clean! In fact I have a long, long wish list of things I'd want in my ideal home which will never happen unless I win the lottery lol
Didn't get up till early afternoon today, and so far have only had a shower and phoned to cancel an appointment (another thing I've been putting off for ages). Weather appalling again, tipping it down and blowing a gale, it's so dark outside! The yellow ball did come out earlier for a while though.
Still no word from washing machine man0 -
unproductive day - Friday night and the red wine called to me! Still, managed to do dishes so that's something.....am really in the mood to go to Mr Ts and see if I can find any yellow sticker bargains but I'm not paying for a taxi:eek:
Bored with the wine and no company now thoughand so to bed!

Hey Cat, sorry Ive missed you - heard the same call from the red wine & was going to post much earlier but got into discussion with DS (with whom peace appears to have broken out, thank God! so didn`t want to hoosh him off too precipitately.) posting quickly now in case you`re still up.0

Hi Messies (new and old),
I've been MIA for a few weeks and had a months worth of post to read, I caught up on them last night when my annoying cough was keeping me awake. Hugs to everyone but double hugs to those that need them. Its sounds like quite a few of you have been quite productive, I have too (although house no where near unmessy). I defrosted my freezer.....omg it is so good having a freezer I can put things in a out of again. I've also been having a clear out of all the stuff in the spare room (aka the junk room that is so full you can't get in it). Some has gone to the cs and I've managed to sell some stuff.
My DH is on a night out tonight and I had great plans of tidying and listing more things to sell.....so what have I done, watch tv and sat on the computer. Ah well off to bed, I have a nice day planned with my girlfriends tomorrow so I'm looking forward to that.I love MSE freebies and comps. Thanks posters0 -
Hi all, I've been reading back for a few pages, and I think this board was designed with me in mind!!!
I would love love love my house to be tidy, but just don't seem to manage it. I have tidy house envy of my friends who casually invite me around for coffee, and say "just drop in any time", whereas I cringe when they do it to me, and they never ever seem to do it when the house IS tidy!
I just read a tip on here about taking one thing out of a room each time you go out, how simple! I must go upstairs 20 times a day, that would be the lounge cleared in 2 days - will start that on my way to bed now.
And ... I loved Flowers in the Attic, read the whole series many times when I was a teenager. Thinking back they were extremely far fetched, and got worse with each book, but I loved them. And My Sweet Audrina too, surprising how I can remember so many details from them, but have no idea where I just put my purse LOL.Light Bulb Moment: October 2011

Jps - I hope things go well for your family member in hospital and your visiting. However long & tiring the round trip, GOOD ON YOU for doing it, as there`s no sadder thing a nurse can see than folks who get no visitors. And you are so right, the Messiness will keep while you prioritise. Home-made bread sounds like a sound priority too!
I had a wheel-bearing done several weeks back, noise wasn`t ear-splitting but a sort of `droning` noise that was gradually getting worse, but very hard to describe. I hate it when there`s a `something amiss` feeling with my car, but I have such a wonderful little local team where I take the car, chap took it for a spin & diagnosed it.(Every Xmas I get them a tin of sweets - Heroes -because they are, to me!)0 -
wff, lovely to hear from you again, you`ve been missed. Hope your cough gets better soon, and I`m so envious of your defrosted freezer. That`s on my `to-do` list (or at least the top half of chest freezer..)for next week when I`ve got 4 days off.
Helen - know what you mean re hard work but enjoy it - we seem to quite regularly have Learning Dis patients on ward, it`s great when they get to know/trust us but very difficult first few days...
Headachesrus - welcome, I`ve seen your name on other threads (it rings a vague bell) but as a Messy I do find this one the most encouraging & least judgemental. A place where folks can rabbit or whinge, can
declare their despair, dysfunction, or delight - at however small a setback or achievement, and feel like this is ok, we ARE Normal, and sometimes we CBA & THAT is Normal too!
I`ve had such a very LOVELY day, really feel so much better after last weeks hassles. Best `day off` in AGES! I spent the afternoon with a dear old friend, we unloaded/talked no-names general`shop` issues, we reminisced, sympathised, gave each other advice, but more than that it was mutual understanding, between folks who`ve been real friends over 20 years, and never reproached each other nor resented some long gaps, we always seem to pick up where we last left off. We sat in a deserted corner of the place which was pretty quiet anyway as there are too many similar venues in that part of town. We consumed more tea & cake than is good for a body but we ENJOYED it & both of us don`t normally do this, so !!!!!!! I walked my friend back to her car as her ticket expired before mine. Then made my way across town to where I`d parked, AND took a couple of short cuts.. dark now, and I`m not used to Town like this...expected to feel uneasy but really wasn`t bothered, just More Alert. Coming out of car park, decided NOT to drive home & back later, but check out new Morrisons supermarket then go from there to pick OH up from work.
BAD Emm, NAUGHTY Emm - spent money in Morrisons, but also really enjoyed a very leisurely browse, sussing the new supermarket, got some good buys too, and know know the layout & what I`ll go back for - I`m quite selective & like to shop around! Collected OH on time, got home & made a fire & chinese pork steaks with rice salad, & got next couple of days meals sorted in my head (late shift tomorrow then 2 longshifts) Place is still Messy, but for the first time in over a week I actually feel HAPPY now. Counting my Blessings, a job I love, OH, and Friends -on here, and the very few `real-life` folks who I treasure.0 -
