The leeks are still on the chopping board...:eek:

But I have a nice new fence, the route of the new path is laid out with T bars and a traveller (guess whose dad is a qualified surveyor:rotfl:), I have two more car loads of insulation and a supermarket shop...

*And* spent an hour fighting with the new boiler, all the controls on which had locked up, including the factory reset button. In the end I pulled all the switches in the main fuse box one by one until I killed its power-and thank goodness it rebooted in a more willing mood. I could just see myself calling out the plumber again only to have the blasted thing behave as soon as he got here...

Next job-loft insulation. It has to be, unless we want to have Christmas in a living room resembling the entrance to Wickes.

I suppose I could be painting a ceiling. But the cat has taken up residence again. Shame...:D

Not sure what has come over my OH however he has been tiling the bathroom today :)! Then he said lets go and choose paint for the hall too :D so I have just finished painting the testers on the wall and I am so undecided! There are just so many gorgeous colours to choose from.

The laundry pile is still crazy huge  however I have done loads of washes today (not that you would notice!). I have tackled the dishes and the sink so I just need to wash the counter and the floor in the kitchen and my DD room is almost back to it's shiny best too.

I have found it hard to focus on one job at a time today so I have skipped around the house doing bits and pieces everywhere with the result it is all half finished :rotfl:

As well as house work I have a mountain of paperwork to plough my way through this week :(
Taking responsibility one penny at a time!

    thanks laurel, snookey xx

    hello sceptre and teapartymum!!

Well done on all the busyness folks! DS looking good, off all the monitors and drips now and they're trying him off the oxygen tonight, seemed to be holding up well, still on 3 hourly nebs so it's looking good for Tuesday fingers crossed!:j No busyness here apart from going up and down to hospital, but hoping to get a good sleep tonight and time tomorrow to give DS's room a good going over before he gets out:):)
  • Got room for a little one?

I just never have the motivation to get started, I love it when everything looks great and that, but it just feels so overwhelming. I try to do a little at a time, but it feels like a drop in the ocean and I feel even worse than when I was ignoring it.

    Help?

plenty of room! I know just what you mean, there is an awful stage when you're trying to do things when it looks even worse than it did when you started, it can be soooo hard finding the motivation to keep going till you see the light at the end of the tunnel!

If I ever work out how to do it, I'll let you know! :/ All the support here is great though, and I have gone from someone who didn't even get the bare essentials done a couple of weeks ago to someone who - maybe manages to do the dishes every second day!!!! And believe me, that's a big improvement:D

    Hiya Blue

What helps me is to give myself credit for what I *have* done, rather than dwelling on what I haven't. And accepting that I'm never going to be a housework robot-and don't really want to be.

But-here is a method I invented when my daughter was small and I felt really overwhelmed. I wrote down everything I did. Even having a shower and cleaning my teeth, which *are* achievements with a baby and/or depression. I was surprised how much I did...and it helped me to forgive myself for the things I didn't x

Now, if I have an overwhelming job to do, I break it down. First job-find a pen and paper-congratulations me, I've made a start. Break the job down into achievable chunks, and really break it down. Not "finish all paperwork" but "File three things". And then give yourself a tick. File another three. If you feel like it. You're already on your way...

  • Hello & Welcome you new Messies. There `s always room here... these Messies encourage each other when we DO stuff but are also so supportive & non-judgemental when we don`t/can`t (for whatever reason.)

Cat - glad your DS is better, very stressy time for you, also exhausting toing/froing hospital visiting & timing your day around this. (We ARE strong strong when we have to be though) Hope your DS is home soon and you can both relax a bit, Bless you both, & (HUGS)

My place is a TOTAL tip, had my days off full of horrible family conflict, still unresolved, little sleep when uspet, feel shaky/sick/off my fodder when I think about stuff, & this is day 3. (A day when I had to go do a long shift - and glad of it!!! All too complicated to explain here or at work, but I thank God for my lovely colleagues (AND patients) & for OH`s not getting involved - as that would make it worse- just gently supportive.)
I had a busy useful day, GLAD GLAD GLAD to be OUT OF HERE all day. Only OH here just before me when I got home - false impression of calm? Made a fire, made supper (didn`t/still don`t want any yet). OH & I ignored the mess left for us, fed & fussed dog & cat, watched Mastermind on I-player but paused it about ten times to chat about our day today. OH working tomorrow, I`m not but almost wish I was.
Mess will keep, the family stuff could go any direction, anytime, it`s not up to me now.
On the plus side (do you get the impression I`m trying hard here to count my blessings?) I discovered today (preview of next rota, Charge Nurse is a Dear Soul) that I have a week off early next month. Things may be resolved then, or not, I may be inspired re family/Christmas prep, or not. Feel like I`m living on edge of a glacier at the moment. It`s not my usual CBA, it`s more a Just Prioritise on whatever isn`t just pointless at present. Sorry to sound like a miserable old thing, but I really am, I hate this whole conflict thing. (I`m working over Christmas, so is OH, we always do as it comes with the job & that`s not what it`s about, but if stuff is unresolved I don`t even want to think about Christmas.)
Two old friends coming over on Friday, a rare reunion thing, were supposed to come here...not bothered about the Messiness, but won`t have them harassed by the `atmosphere` or potential for it - so will head them off at the pass, we`ll meet up in town instead. I KNOW I`m lucky to have the option to do this, to have OH & work, and great colleagues, but I still feel sick & miserable to the core.Half of me is saying I`m coping, I`m strong & wait it out, the other half is wanting to grovel for family peace & reconciliation. And half of me just wants to be at work like today. (Did I tell you maths wasn`t my best subject?) I`m tired enough to sleep now, and just about fancy a banana butty.

Emm - have a huge hug hone, not prying but if you want to unload feel free - we won't judge, just help

Well done everyone on all you are achieving

Cat - hugs and get well vibes for DS and you, you must be exhausted

    Today I have
    Done the school run
Cleaned up outside all the rubbish the bin men left - Grrrrr, I have enough of my own to deal with thank you!!
In the middle of moving the computer from the Kitchen to the DR so the LR is full of DR carp and the Kitchen is a minging tip
Washed up in the middle of moving it all

Now I need to start sorting out the Kitchen - the reason for the move round is so that we can get coats, shoes etc in the Kitchen where the comp was as, at the moment they are in the hall but as the hall is only 4ft by 3ft [sounds bigger than it actually is as there's the bottom of the stairs, radiator and a wall in that space] they take up alot of space and I'm fed up with coming in and tripping over the dog and shoes - one day I'll break my neck!!

I'll be back later to report my progress [I'm another that likes to focus on what I've done rather than what I haven't]

Sorry - welcome and Hi to all the newbies, chat lots as we all do lol

    Afternoon

    So far I have
Washed up some more - now up to date with that pile
Spoke to Mum and N and K
    Took a delivery in
Cleaned the mould from the big window in the K
Bleached the woodwork around the big window
Washed the mold off the floor infront of the big window
Put the shoe rack infront of the big window
Drilled holes and put the coat hook thingy up
Sorted out coats to go to CS and hung the rest on the coat hook thingy

Now need to put away all the tools, hoover and put all the furniture back where it belongs

The big window in the kitchen is floor to ceiling, bay and about 110 inches across and its not one pane of glass oh no, its 25 of the !!!!!!s!!! It suffers from really bad condensation which has very quickly turned to mold so everything [glass and woodwork] has been washed twice, dried and so has the floor and now the curtain is waiting to be washed too as that has flippin mold on it!! What started off as a fairly simple task has evolved into major moving, cleaning and general mess reducing tasks. Once its all finished it will look better and I'll be able to keep on top of the condensation. Good job DH wasn't here to see me drilling holes in the wrong places [now covered up by the coat hook thingy] lol. Its also helpful that DH will pick up the kids from school so I have until 4 to put everything away so away I goooooo

    Helen x

    ETA
    Hall done
    Xmas delivery put away
    Kitchen half done
    LR half done

All done and dusted now, just a huge pile of ironing to do followed by yet more washing and then some more ironing and so on it goes lol
