  • 1st task on my list today:
Do the washing. My washing machine broke down last week and the engineer has just repaired it. I now need to get rid of the washing mountain that has appeared over the past 4 days.

Phew, back from school - I got to read with some Year 2s, help with their Maths on the laptop, help them with their writing and, best bit, sharpen all the pencils!!! The 3 hours whizzed by - got back and made the beds, hung up the wet washing and just finished lunch. Now need to try and vacuum upstairs, get some cash and walk the dog.

Helen send some of that energy here could you - for the sixth day running I've got a splitting headache :( and feel like going to sleep.

Imataloss I like your attitude about it being your house and lived in. I try to feel that way too but sometimes I just feel plain embarrassed by ours and if anyone comes when I am not expecting them I feel awful.

Emm-in-a-pickle 2 long shifts over the weekend - don't envy you that.

Snooky your naughty dog, not the first time he's done that is it or am I mixing you up with someone else? Wonder why? My dog does lots of bad stuff, believe me, but thankfully not that .... shouldn't say it should I!

OK, best get my bum off this chair ....

Yorkshire lass hope your son is okay. Kids can be really mean at times .

Dog is so far behaving himself maybe just maybe the telling off has worked. Has been like a windbag though today.

Ds got a distinction for a short film he and his friend made . Im really pleased his course is going well. Dd got the pupil of the week last week so very proud of both of them.
Went to pay bills today only to see that a present I bought for dd for xmas has got a fiver off. I think buying in early maybe a mistake as lots of shops are cutting prices now.
Iv only cleaned the kitchen today, and cooked the tea . Had a sleep after the shops. I really need to go to bed earlier and take my medication as it is sedating and makes me sleepy most of the next day. We are going the gym Wed come hell or high water as we never went last week. Have only been for our induction.

Hope to speak to you all in the near future . Take care everyone.
  • Hi all, have not posted here for a while, but regardless my home is a mess too! Every visitor I have means a week of tidying and cleaning beforehand :(
Each house I live in gets to this state after 3, 4 years, and unsurprisingly I get the urge to move house! This house has been really bad though due to extreme damp. Its literally been safer to store my stuff outside in my shed than bring it inside to get mouldy. Maybe I should live in the shed with the spiders.
So over the next few months Ill be packing away non essentials...great way of tidying up!!!

  • Hello all, well I`m still tackling the mountain of washing. Have so much to do and it`s so grey and dreary here. I hope to hang it on the line if it stays dry though.
DH has decided that we really need to sort the house out - it must be catching.
We spent about an hour last night emptying a large cupboard in the kitchen.
Found things that we hadn`t used for years. At least 20 pairs of shoes, an old laundry basket and so much clutter. Now have a black bag of rubbish for the tip. Most of the shoes have been rehomed upstairs.
Have to tackle 4 leaver arch files of work filing now. Some of the paperwork is from 2007. The shredder will be busy.
Beautiful - ravens welcome back. Is there any way the damp problem can be sorted in your house?
  • Hello!

I've had a slow day at work and have been reading this thread for most of the morning..... I think I've found my second home here!!

I too, am a messy. I try my best to get things straightened out and then no more than a day later, the kids have been on the rampage and DH has been cooking (but no so much washing up), and then everything is back to it's normal state. Anybody on the daily thread may have seen lately that my current nemesis is my washing pile.... I've got really behind so am plugging away at getting that cleared; every load done is one less to do I suppose!!

So I'll hopefully be on here from now on, to keep you updated with the goings on in my never-ending battle for a tidy house.

    MMM :)

    Hello

    Can i please join in?

I read this thread all the time but have never posted and normally i can keep on top of the house but after the weekend from hell my house is a tip and I really don't know where to start.

DD birthday as at the weekend as well so not only am I dealing ith the aftermarth of the party and the many presents she got that I haven't got a home for, I am also dealing with sudden family issues which needs dealt with and that is sapping all our energy.

So far today I have washed my car because that was really doing my head in and I couln't concentrate on anything other than the mess it was in.

I have my 2nd washing on for the day and the washing basket is nearly empty :T but that also means I have a huge ironing pile

I have a done soooo many dishes over the past 2 days yet the kitchen is still a mess, infact I was soo tempted to just bin everything and buy new plates :rotfl:but thought that wasn't very MSE.

Living room is so bad i've kept the blinds closed for the day:eek:

My bedroom well lets not go there but it is certanly not a haven of peace that I long for.

On the plus side my bathroom is clean :T

I am lucky that I only work PT but i do nightshift and I am back in work tonight so need to get off to bed soon but I know I won't sleep for thinking about the jobs that need done.

I should say OH is very good at doing things around the house but he works FT.

Anyay just wanted to have a moan and say Hi.

Thanks for your encouragement and support everyone x

Well, the interview was today. 55 applicants, 10 interviewees. 5 of us made it to the second round...but the other 4 were really, really good...

And I'll get an answer tonight...gulp. I'm nervously cradling my phone while drinking cup after cup of tea...can't eat...thank goodness I don't have to sleep... :/
