My home is a mess

Mmmm pumpkin seed bread, that does sound nice:) Can't really bake in my oven as the thermostat is kaput, it has two temperatures, blast furnace and off.:o
I'm tempted to get a shredder myself dearlouise but I can't really justify the cost as my dad has one so I can just send stuff up there.....I have a LOT of stuff to send! It's just sorting it that's the problem. Stood on something in my bedroom tonight, CRACK! Oh heck, I thought, what have I broken this time...turned out I'd stepped on a sachet of tomato ketchup (it really did go "crack"!) and squirted sauce all over my birth certificate:o:o:o I really really must get things in hand!
Other than that I've made tea, washed up today's and yesterday's dishes (would be so nice to find that someone else had done them for once), hoovered under DS's bed, and procrastinated on here:D I've invited my kids friends round on Friday for my birthday, they are used to the mess but I'd really like to get things done by then so that should be an incentive. They are great fun, intelligent and good company, good conversationalists and same taste in music as me. Know I'll have a fab time with them, though it might sound weird to some that I choose to spend my birthday with 17-21 year olds:o It's just tinged with awful sadness that one of them won't be there this year0 -

Welcome Dearlouise - come on in with us and we can all help each other. Big hugs for all you've been through/all you're going through xx
Thanks to all for your words of support to me the other day. Just met up with some good friends, had a good cryand was able to share with them how I feel. Feeling a bit better for that but have a horrid feeling the old depression was lurking - need to kick that into touch.
DS gone off to school no probs so got the house to myself til 3.15. So my plan for the rest of today:
* have lunch
* write and send Dad's birthday card
* book next shopping delivery
* sort out another kitchen drawer
* ironing .... got shedloads again (2 loads worth, seems like more)
* school run
* dinner (chicken curry yummy!)
This evening want to sit down with DH and watch another eposide of The Killing - I'm hooked. Of course I'll do some more knitting at the same time so won't be empy handed.

Hello! new to the thread and my first thoughts were "gosh i'm not alone then!".
I thought i'd also let you all know of my awful secret of being untidy.
so, i found this website around 2 months ago, and ever since, all i have been worried about it making money or saving!
i have a 2 and a half year old DD who is super super messy. she can't even eat a yogurt without getting it all on the leather sofas. Im running around after her with a plate to try catch the crumbs!
right now, she's in bed, i'm sitting on the sofa, laptop on lap, coffee at my side with a great view of the drying up that needs doing and the washing up sitting on the side. My OH is at work, he will come home and sigh when he sees i haven't done it. hehe!
I'm also looking at the skirting boards....they're dusty...i'll leave them for another day!
When i clean, i can't stop! a few weeks back, i decided to tidy the cupboard under the stairs so i could make room for some shelving i'd bought to put tins of food etc as we have a very small house. i ended up painting it, hoovering, washing, and a trip to the tip later, it could have been converted into harry potters new bedroom!. it does look great, but i do have to have motivation to do it.
the clutter in our house is unbelievable. we haven't sat at the table to eat dinner in a month because i have covered it in books and cds i want to sell but can't get the motivation to put them online!. i run a small sewing business which takes up all of my time at the weekends and evenings, so sue me if i want to play with my daughter instead of clean!
xx

Hi all, for those of you who were so kind about my sister coming to visit, well she set off for home about an hour ago and I actually really enjoyed having her around for a few days. In the end I managed to make the house reasonably presentable and didnt get too stressed about anything - in fact she complimented me on my newly decorated, but not quite finished, kitchen!
I have loads of washing to do now and the weather is rubbish. I decided to light the stove and put the airer in front of it and for some reason the darned thing wont light. I have just resorted to a couple of firelighters and fingers crossed that might have worked.
Mumof2 - hope you are feeling better. You sound like a great Mum to me but its easy to feel like things are getting on top of you. Be kind to yourself.
Helen, hope the ironing isnt too bad. I bet it was a bloke who decided kids should wear white cotton school shirts to school. I hate ironing the darned things.
Cat, make sure you have a great birthday, who cares how you celebrate it so long as you have a good time.
We seem to be growing in numbers all the time, I guess it shows that messy houses are "normal" houses. For a long time I thought it was just me!0 -
Hello and welcome to all the newbies :j
Well we got some curtains up yesterday and changed all the bedding in the house which was a lovely fresh start for the week.
The livingroom is in a fairly good shape and the kitchen is ok too so I reckon an hours work to get it all looking acceptably tidyTaking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
Hello all the new people. Its nice to have more company on here.
I put up the curtains in the front livingroom ,put up the pictures and generally pottering around doing touch up on the paintwork. Its looking really regal in purple and cream. Will clear it out later as Iv got to start cleaning the floor ready to stain and varnish.
Off to pay some bills later and replenish the fridge. See you all later.
Yorkshire lass Im glad that things went well with the visit.0 -
Hi all, hope i get names right, doing from memory (which is somewhat lagging these days).
Muffin, yes i too say treat yourself to a nice warm quilt.
Louise, sorry to hear of your troubles, hope you get through it quickly and as painlessly as poss
Rummer, I don't have a house fund, but i do have an argos card and an overdraft facility, which i have cained recently, as i have just had a kitchen installed (compliments of my housing association). I go to second hand shops/community projects and get some brilliant furniture. Xmas is a good time for that, as people treat themselves to new ones, but really i don't think you can beat the quality and uniqueness of some of these shops. I do have a store of food, as i shop at approved food and others like them (bless them all), which gives me more money to play around with (make that more overdraft to play around with!!!!).
Well, did manage to clear the sitting room and get all the stuff back in the kitchen cupboards. A friend phoned to come round, so i went into panic mode and threw everthing else into a walk in cupboard that i had just cleared (doh), oh well, it does look really nice and i will tackle the cupboard a bit at a time. Starting late today, as had kitchen floor being levelled, (any excuse eh), want to:
hoover everywhere
wash old cooker
put cooker on Ebay, along with some other bits
clean toilet downstairs, quick wipe and floor
do 1 shelf of walk in cupboard
clean fridge (its yuk)0 -
Yorkshirelass - really glad for you that the visit went well
I've been costing my DS's Xmas list - errr NO!!! I think I need to sit down with him and explain that 30 odd various console games is not going to happen - ever. DD had a good list and its all been bought or handed out to others to get but DS would be quite happy if I bought Amazon for him lol. Doesn't help that he has a birthday soon so thats 2 main pressies close to each other - he is always telling me off for not having him in the summer - more time between pressies and better parties!!!
I did some ironing so I'm pleased I'm managing to keep on top of it all
Have a good evening everyone [I know its only 3pm but its getting darker already so feels like evening!!]
