My home is a mess

Hi all. Well I ended up starting a deep clean of the kitchen and livingroom at midnight. I get bursts of energy at stupid times. Kitchen now looks like new. Had to scrape off candle wax from fireplace as oh had failed to clean it even though it was his fault. Im glad I did the rooms even though I was up until three in the morning.
Im off to my 19 year old nieces party at four. Its her idea and my eight year old is all excited, has chosen a party dress to wear.
Ill pop in later.0 -
Hello Messies, I'd love to join in. This thread has inspired me and I have begun de-clutering. tidied up under the bed today, cleaned and sorted and re assigned items to the loft and the shed.0

Good afternoon
Just up, even though I was in bed for 15 hours I only had about 8 hours sleep and could quite easily go back there now but I'm not going to!
ColleenPamela - I'm so sorry you have fibro, it must be awful to be in so much pain. How on earth you manage to hold down a job AND run a house is beyond me! That's a great idea about starting at the front door, my hall is a real dumping ground for anything and everything so it makes sense! I'd say I couldn't manage everything in a day - it would take at least 3 to be honest even working full pelt I think! - but I'm a dreadful procrastinator and if ever there is an occasion when I NEED to get the house done, it does end up being left till the last possible minute, staying up all night to get it done and calling on Mum to help.
Rummer thank you, after the hall I really should start on my bedroom. I live in my bed and really you wouldn't believe the state of the bed itself:embarasse My mum would help out but I think only if it was really necessary, after previous "issues" with her "helping" lol, my parents do help me out a lot taking me shopping and stuff and doing the kids laundry at the moment...the kids like that 'cos it gets ironed too!. Getting it to a level I could keep on top of would certainly help though
jpscloud, thank you for the welcome, I agree, I feel in good company on here, not that I'd ever actually let any of you into my house in reality but in a way I feel that I HAVE - and everyone's been so kind!
Thank you mumof2! I know exactly what you mean about kids being at each other all the time, and it doesn't seem to matter how old they are! I also love being cooked for, unfortunately this only happens when we get a takeaway as I have no OH! DD1 is 18 and the limit of her kitchen skills extends no further than the microwave, DD2 is 17 and DS is 13, they can manage the hob and oven but as they are working hard at school and college I don't expect them to cook meals for us all, especially as I'm lying in my pit all day! Sounds like you had a very productive day yesterday, good for you:T
Snookey I'm really sorry to hear about your husband. It's awful seeing someone you love in pain like that, makes you feel so helplessHope your day is going well and that you are enjoying the party which is going on as i type
ksh oh you sound just like me! I agree, it's not that we're GLAD other people feel like this, but it does help you not to feel alone. And yes I also feel like a fraud, lazy......like, people like Colleen have a REAL excuse, and other people with depression and fatigue have a real excuse, but not me. I don't want to be this person either - I've been it for over 20 years, I'm 40 next year and I feel like time is running out for me - I don't want to spend the next 20 years in bed!!!!
Emm, thanks for your welcome! I'm sorry to hear about your friend( I'm sure your long distance support must mean the world to her, I wish I had the mindset and energy to be such a great friend to people like you are. LOL@ the doggie poo story!! Men, eh?:rotfl:
helenjelly, that sounds like a busy day you're having!Well done on doing all that ironing. I've just ironed a pair of DS's trousers, too lazy to get the board out so did them on the floor!
Hi and welcome oldtractor, wow you've done really well:T Also I have the same starting weight and target weight as you, well done on your loss so far! I've only lost about 4lb so far but without really trying, my new meds are making my appetite normal and I no longer eat 3 times the recommended portion of pasta - who came up with these things??? Long may it last!
Well, I've realised that I've been sitting here nearly an hour writing this and my coffee is cold, still sleepy and tempted to have another but that's just procrastinating again - plan is, fill one bag of rubbish from my hovel of a bedroom before making dinner and allowing myself back on here!
Hope everyone is having a good day and congratulations for any achievements you've had, no matter how big or small!0 -
hello kittywight, sorry about that, cross-posted:wave:
you know, I don't want a man - but I have to admit, the one thing I would like is someone else to take the rubbish out once in a while! Strange I know!
Forgot to say in my really long post - the light oatmeal carpets in my bedroom, the hall, and the living room are filthy (what a mistake that colour was), I used to have a great Bissell carpet cleaner, but it broke just after the warranty ran out (!) and I've not been able to afford to replace it. So even if the house is tidy, it still looks grubby. Does anyone else find that things like this really dishearten them and put them off doing anything at all? I mean, of course it would look better tidy, but you get it in your head that if it's going to look pretty rubbish anyway, what's the point?0 -
Oh bless you Cat...I don't really have much of an excuse. My mother has terrible MS but she's an utter powerhouse. Sometimes the knack I've found is when you get going, keep going. Our house now looks semi presentable because I talked myself into spending the day cleaning. Once I'd done the first grotty job it really wasn't so bad. I'm just a terrible procrastinator. Someone else has mentioned noting somewhere how long it actually takes you to do things. It takes me 15 minutes max to clean the bathroom...why did I put it off for so long!!
Our greatest weakness lies in giving up; always try just one more time0 -
Cat - I've often done the school uniform in a rush on the worktop!! Keep on plugging away at the mess in little bits and you'll soon notice the difference.
Today I have
Hoovered all of upstairs
Straightened DS room
Straightened DD room
Hoovered all of downstairs
Hoovered the stairs [first time in about a month
Tidied all the hats, scarves and gloves that we keep in little baskets on the stairs
Wiped the stair rail - yuck
Washed up
Made tea
Had mum round for a couple of hours
Shouted at a person on the phone who was phoning for the 4th time today to see if I wanted to claim for mis-sold insurance!!!! Think they have got the message now :]
Need to sort our room before bedtime as I've dumped some carp on our bed
Have a good evening everyone

Evening Messies
Nothing really to report here as I have been so busy that cleaning has taken a back seat but I do like to keep up with all your news!
This weekend I am going to get it sortedTaking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
Well I did some of my bed - there were 27 books on it, including both the "How Clean is Your House?" books:rotfl:
2 sinkloads of dishes (instead of the usual ie just enough to get by for tonight), only about 4 to go! Have collected glasses and plates from round the house but can still only find 7 out of twelve forks :question:I do hate jobs that need doing again so soon though!
Took out bag of rubbish and paper for recycling and made dinner.
Now sitting down with a cig and a coffee again! But I do feel good, it can't be very interesting but it does feel nice having at least something to report!
Helenjelly:T I can't wait to get to the stage of "straightening out" lol0 -
Wow, well done you who Messies who got going today! Cat, Helen & Rummer, you must feel good now! MY cutlery also dwindles in number every now & then too Cat -it`s a real pain when all you find on the cutlery rack is large spoons! Also, MY bed is more of a bookshelf/tape rack sometimes! Re carpet colour, my living-room rugs are cream (cotton in summer, and woven wool that looks a lot like sheepskin in winter.) Washable..as they have to be here!
I haven`t done much here at all today, had to do a lot of to-ing & fro-ing with DS & DGD, inc. shopping. Oh how I`d rather shop alone, honestly! Felt drained & grumpy, it`s NOT retail therapy with DS along! OH`s last nightshift tonight, and I`m working a long-day tomorrow, so I`m treating myself to supper in bed and an early night. I`ll feed DGD after we drop OH at work, and just a basics-only flip around the kitchen. Tomorrow night I`ll stay up late, cook a chicken dinner & chill with OH, so will be MIA from forum etc.
One of these days I WILL get going and surprise you all (surprise myself too!)
Have a good weekend, all!0
