Emms, sounds like something my OH would do! I remember last time I was trying to have a lay in hearing my OH yell and yell at me to come down because our dog had had some accidents downstairs and he wouldn't clean it up himself.

My excuse for being sofa bound this morning is that the dog is asleep on me with his paw across his face, too too cute to wake up!

:o Well, I found most of the living room floor and vac'd it yesterday. Bedroom floor is still MIA hiding under piles of carp but there will be a little less now as.........waitforit..............I have turfed out a load of jamjars (20 +) for a freecycle pickup.

:D Go, me! I find it very very hard to part with jamjars. Or pickle/ pasta sauce/ mayo jars so this is a major development in the anti-mess strategy. Baby steps, baby steps........

Perfection still a long way off as I have jam-jars and lids and some don't tally so will have to have the Jar Reconciliation Dance later today and recycle those which haven't got their lids anymore. Then a coupla things lurking on the counter may be able to go into the cupboards, whoo whoo.

:o:p:o But nothing will separate my from my Bonne Maman jam-jars with the gingham-printed lids.

Well, we managed to get the house clean & tidy for the agent inspection. :j But me and OH had to stay up all night cleaning, tidying & sorting on Monday!!! After all that, the agent only stayed for 10minutes!!

House looks clean & tidy now (first time in a long time) and I'm determined to keep it that way - although the kids think differently! Since I had DS2 in Feb, the housework has slid & I've struggled to cope with the mountains of washing, putting away & picking things up.

I've joined a local facebook carboot type group & bought myself a lovely floorstanding lamp last night. When I picked it up, it was the hugest, most immaculate house ever, and it smelt beautiful! When I drove away, couldn't help but feel extremely jealous, some people are so lucky :( Still, because I've got their lamp now, it's a small step towards making my house nice!! :D

  • Hi everyone,

I've joined in threads like this before, made a good start, then sunk into chaos once more!

Having said that, each time is a little less chaotic than the time before. As it is half term and we are hopefully having builders start work soon, I've got to pack up two bedrooms worth of clutter so they can get in there. Good motivation!

So far this week I've taken two bags to the charity shop and have one more ready to go. I've filled two black bags of junk and one big sack of paper recycling! Feeling good, but loads left to do.

I seem to be getting more and more ruthless as well. I'm just dreading going back to work on Monday and knowing that my messiness combined with tiredness will undo a lot of the good I've done.

Every time I take a break, I read another page of posts. Only up to page 7! By the time I finish this thread I should have an immaculate house (in theory) :rotfl:

  • Right, progress so far today after I slid out from under the dog-

-Changed bedding in our room, not washing the duvet cover as ManBoy put the rats up there and they've chewed through it. Going to keep the unholed side for painting and use the side with holes (lots of little ones) to hopefully stich into new cushion covers. Or convince mum she wants to do it for me.
-Sorted all the bedding out, put the double covers (we now have a king size duvet due to night time duvet theft issues) and spare pillowcases in the airing cupboard, and everything I need to change the bed is in one pillowcase stored in the bedroom.
-Cleared away all my guff that shouldn't live in the bedroom (in reality, this means I dumped it in my spare room)
    -Hoovered
-Put all the clean clothes away (yes ManBoy, you are as capable of putting my clothes away as I am yours, so why put yours away and throw mine on the floor?? Men.)
-Cleaned the window inside and out as it was looking incredibly manky. Must've looked a sight leaning out of the window precariously.
-Now airing the room as we speak.
-Came downstairs to a sweltering hot downstairs- sauna style. Even the dog was looking a bit baggy. ManBoy clearly hasn't mastered storage heaters- output: 5! Got all the doors and windows open. Cleaned inside of living room window and dusted everything. I love our open fire but ash gets EVERYWHERE.
-Put a load of washing on
-Flomped down onto sofa to have 15 minute break, which somehow is now UP and Mr Jimmy Page and Mr Robert Plant are keeping me company, *swoon*

Best I get back to it!

I did a bit of washing yesterday and put my brand new flannelette (sp) sheets on the bed... ooo snuggly. The cat wants to sleep on them too, but she sheds so much I don't like her sleeping near the pillow end. This leads to undignified pushing and shoving followed closely by purring and rolling on back and patting me on the cheek with her paws. I never win this game :o

Oooh they sound lovely and warm! Luckily the dog can't get upstairs by himself otherwise we'd have a similar struggle! Having him on the sofa is bad enough....he crams himself into the tiniest gap then streeeeeeeeeeetches!

How do they DO that? The cat always ends up in the most comfortable position on the sofa and I have to find a place to put my feet up around her - without disturbing her of course!

In other news, I have been out visiting an Aunt today so did nothing except a slow cooker meal - sausage and lentil casserole... yum! Maybe tomorrow will be the day for starting a serious bit of decluttering...

i nearly wombled one out of someone's recycling bin the other week...:rotfl:

Actually, I was amazed how much jam was left in it! Do they not have bendy scrapers? If they bought it at a certain posh supermarket beginning with W, that was probably 40p's worth!

Oh, and the doggy do story...:rotfl::rotfl:

    Evening Messies :D

Well I had a mini melt down last night and told my beloved that I need more help around the house as I am too busy to do it all myself. He listened patiently and has been a real help today :) loading the dish washer and doing some laundry. Now I can have some time to get my paperwork sorted :D
