My home is a mess

So sorry I've been missing so much - had lot of 'stuff' going on.
Do you know I'm sat here and looking around and I can honestly say I don't think I know where to start. Everywhere is messy. My husband, daughter and even my 4 year old son hoard. If I get rid of anything they go mad (well my husband does, the kids get annoyed but I distract them). They even go through bins. What can I do?
Just feeling a bit overwhelmed at the moment. I'm tired of looking for things for people and not being able to find them because of all the clutter everywhere. As far as I'm concerned everything should have an 'away place' and if it hasn't been used for a couple of years it should be slung out. Am I weird?
Sorry, feeling a bit out of my depth. Spent ages looking for DD's library card - I always look after it, she wanted it, swore she'd take care of it and, guess what, lost it. Luckily I found it but it was a fluke.
*Sigh* - off to make the beds, sort the washing, vacuum, iron blah blah blah ......
Sending you hugs.
With regards to the horders, give the stuff they dont use to a charity shop. You could either do this all at once or slowly (so maybe they wont notice??). They may get angry but at least they can't get it back2012 wins approx £11,000 including 5k to spend on a holiday :j0 -
Morning everyone. I can really relate to your post McFilly. I used to work full time and its horrible when its Sunday afternoon and you should be having a rest but all you can see is mess around you that needs sorting. And what Mumof2 says about clutter is so right too. If I could get rid of all the clutter cleaning would be a breeze. I just dont seem to have enough cupboards to put everything away.
I am not working at the moment so I feel bad sometimes that my house isnt immaculate. Caring for my son does take up quite a bit of my time and I have to try not to beat myself up about the housework. It doesnt help that our house really needs some money spending on it which we dont have.
Ah well, its the start of another week so lets try and get some positive vibes going! At least we are here and trying to make some progress. I have been trying to follow the FL system of concentrating on one room each day. I know from past experience that this works for me. Even if I only manage half an hour each day it seems to stop me just butterflying about from one job to another.
So my plan is this week to do: Kids bedrooms today, Our bedroom and landing tomorrow, bathroom and study Wednesday and lounge, hall and stairs Friday. I have got quite a lot else going on this week so we will see how it goes!
Craftgranny, welcome back and take it easy. Oh and Snookey that leak, what a nightmare.0 -
Afternoon all
I've had no internet since Weds - nearly killed me, not being able to log on, thiught of you all!! You'd think that as I wasn't able to log on I'd of had tme to have an immaculate home - WRONG!! Hehe, I worked for 2 days, tried to fix comp for 1 day [give up in a huff, argued with AOHell and generally stomped aroung]
Mumof2 - hugs
Crafty - lovely to see you back - hope each day brings a bit more health to you
Candy - hope you are ok
Hello to all the new people joining - we're all in the same boat for whatever reason [mine is pure laziness]
Off to catch up . . . . . not with the housework - oh no - with blogs lol
Helen xProjects made for craft fair - 40

Thanks for the hugs, sorry to be downbeat earlier. Am getting on with things now instead of thinking about doing them:
* done all, yes ALL my ironing
* made the beds, sorted washing out
* put bits and bobs away where they should be (found 4 of DH's fleeces in different rooms)
* walked the dog for an hour
* been to osteopath
* cleaned out chooks
* put away shopping from Mr T
* booked GP appt online and ordered repeat meds
* gone through calendar and written notes in my little book I keep of things I need to do (sort of a frog list/things I mustn't forget list)
Doing a cup of tea then going to vacuum right round and sit down and knit for 30 mins guilt free - I'm entitled to some me time right?!
Helen it would kill me to go that long without the internet! Well, probably not really but you have my sympathies.
YORKSHIRELASS I sometimes do better just focussing on one room at a time but my problem is they all seem to need a little something doing to them! At the moment I'm trying to do just a bit in each one and do it each day.
Kit I've given some stuff to a charity shop - I put it in a cupboard aka the holding bay for a month and if the kids don't ask for it/notice it's gone then I take it away. DD could manage to get rid of a few things when DS was in nursery as the younger children played with the things. She is starting to get used to the idea of charity shops and recycling and I tell her how grateful children will be for things she no longer needs. As for DH - don't go there; he knows everything and where it all is and I don't want to get yelled at again .
Snookey sorry to hear about the leak and good luck with the weight loss. I'm sure you'll look lovely.
Right, kettle's boiled so off I go ....Flymarkeeteer: £168 and counting0 -
omg help me !! help my poor ears !!
the fire alarm has been going off for over an hour here, i live in a block of flats, another flat was having furniture moved and banged into the emergency fire alarm in the hallway .... which of course has set the alarm off .....the fire brigade came out, but theres nothing they can do , gotta wait for the alarm specialist people to come out ............. have a feeling we are gonna be waiting a lonnnnnnng time ...
all the alarms are connected, so weve got 3 alarms on all floors flashing and going off.... and alarms in our own flats .... and i can hear every one of them
thankfully ds is calming down now, the cats still upset though
sorry i havent been around much, have been unwell and not got much cleaning done..
today ive done:
went to lidls and stocked up on packed lunch items for ds
cleaned bathroom
cleaned livingroom
hoovered livingroom
hoovered hallway
lit scented candles in all rooms (hardest task of the day)
done 2 sinks of washing (still got more to go)
did a load of washing
hung clothes on airer
put another load in washing machine
took black bag out
got another black bag to do, finish rest of dishes, bathe ds, and make his packed lunch and spare clothes for tommorow
please god make these alarms stop soon

I'm another in the "overwhelmed by it all" club. Why can't things just stay tidy?
2 teenagers don't really care and just think i'm nagging, OH is a hoarder and a dumper of socks. I admit i'm not perfect either. I think we are doomed.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -

I once threatened to take a photo of my sons bedroom and post it on facebook and tag it so it showed up on all his friends news feeds. You should have seen him move to tidy up when I got the camera out and took some pictures and zoomed in on his "too long to measure" boxers.:rotfl:0 -
Im covered in paint after the roller which you fill ,broke. Its a good job its just emulsion. Im painting the tv cupboard and the lamp tables white also. OH is not convinced they will look nice but I know they will. Dont know why men think they are the only ones to do diy .
Rummer sorry to hear about the car maybe you will have some luck with a windfall.0 -
Oh, Rummer, what a shame! (Hugs)
Here, it's still trees, trees, trees. I managed to get a load to the tip before it closed tonight, and there's another in the car to be dropped off on my way to work. And it's one of those days where I can't see where I've been. As my son said: "Mum-you just have to remember that all those days add up."import this0
