Another day, another carload of tree.

And now DD tells me she needs stuff from the supermarket for school tomorrow...well I'm not unpacking the car, so I'm not going out until it's fully dark...:o

Have a skimmer coming tomorrow night to quote for de-artexing the kitchen. The kitchen was immaculate on Monday, but my energies have been in the garden since. And the cat is acting skittish and DD's room smells funny...Time to panic clean...

Hi everyone. Iv pottered around generally doing nothing. Washed the livingroom rug as the dog decided to just stand there and wee!. I think he is getting dementia as he had only just been out. He is also pacing and getting stuck behind furniture ,all point to doggy dementia. He is almost fifteen so I guess its to be expected.
Im going out to look in the charity shops Friday for a nose.

    Evening!

I think I should change my name to wonder woman :). On coming home today I did 3 loads of laundry, the dish washer, washed the kitchen units, hoovered, tidied the bedroom and washed down the bathroom :j. All of that was done as I am determined not to spend my whole weekend cleaning :D

  • Kit & Rummer & Snookey - pets are Messies too. I find I am more tolerant of their mess than the humans in this household though...my old dog is losing the plot these days, plus going blind and deaf, but still enjoying her food - AND stealing the cat`s food when she can - I consider that says she still has some quality of Life! The cat is just plain WILFUL, but I do love them both.
Kit, re the woman who stole your cat:- have you had her `chipped` at your vets? (the cat, not the cat-stealer)If not, do so asap, registers YOUR ownership in case it happens again. And do you know the person who stole her, have you tried talking to her? Some cats ARE a bit fickle about their `owners` and the woman may have acted in good faith `adopting a stray`...or she might just be a nutter who fancied your cat and lured her. Either way, chip your cat and try to sort it with the cat-napper so you can use your cat-flap again.
My old dog, and next-doors young dog have recently become threatened and obsessively monitored by one certain neighbour (who doesn`t like dogs at all. Or kids, or old lady next door to them, or cars parked opposite or near his house, etc.) and so we & next-doors look out for each other now - like making sure the postman etc. fasten the gates after them - next-doors watch our gate, we watch theirs. But it`s really horrid when there`s a nasty taste like this in our little street, and our pets are vulnerable. There`s some spite here where there never was before, and there`s no reasoning with the person concerned, a couple of other neighbours, the street `diplomats` have tried when it was kids and cars that were the issue. Some folks should just go live on a mountain or in a swamp By Themselves, I reckon!
I`ve done a 13-hour shift today, LOVELY day it was too! Got away 10 minutes early, got home and cooked some Sainsbobs Duck Sausages, made little patties with last nights` leftover wholegrain mustard mash, flash-fried mushrooms, and a fried (farm, laid yesterday morning)egg each, and warmed up leftover sprouts from yesterday. OH went off very happy, up for early shift tomorrow. I`m also very happy, off for a week now, so staying up late -BECAUSE I CAN!
I really do LOVE my job. I love to be working, love my patients & colleagues (mostly..) but I DO love my time off too, it`s where I faff about PRETENDING to enjoy being domesticated, (no pretending in the kitchen, I`ll cook all week if there`s someone to feed!) try to sort out my Messy House, and by the end of the week off am usually just SO glad to say `stuffittall`, if I did a bit, left a lot, and get back to work where I feel my efforts are more appreciated and there`s some TEAM, not just Muggins doing it all at home! I need my job, I`m really so NOT nice when I get into Muggins mode!

OH has some (unusual) Night Shifts during my time off. This means I`m plotting his packed `lunches` already, and MY suppers are going to be things he doesn`t like much (toasties & wraps) & kip on sofa with i-player radio4/4extra murders etc to lull me to sleep. I`ll be around to make sure it`s quiet while he sleeps in the day, and when he`s gone off to work in the evening I`ll do some heavy pottering - suits me, because I tend to be a bit nocturnal when I do `in the mood` stuff in the house. Am usually limited by having to stop constructive pottering just when getting into it, to do supper/be sociable/get to bed if working in the morning. So, I`m really feeling quite positive and hopeful about the days to come, and , because my last shift today was a really nice one, I`ll not have that `groan` feeling about going back in after my time off.

The cat is chipped. I have tried talking to her, even took my 6 year old DD round to see her because my DD picked the cat when she was only 4 weeks old.
Evil old lady's cat died a while ago and she fell in love with our cat when she seen her about. She has renamed my cat and was just feeding her loads and keeping her locked in. She had the cat for 3 months but luckily the cat must have got out one day and I caught her and brought her home. She has been locked in every since. The cat is very overweight now, she is a delicate cat and has never been fat until now :(
Evil old lady has been in MY back garden looking for the cat and told a neighbour of mine that she looked through my windows and seen the cat in my lounge. She also sent a friend round to ask about the cat; the friend told me Evil old lady is very upset!!!!! My response was that its OUR cat, we have had it for 3 years and she has no right to be upset about us getting it back.

Anyway sorry to go on, I am angry and upset about it all. Am planning on writing Evil old lady a letter asking her not to feed the cat or let her into the house. Also our local PSO is going round to have a chat to her about the cat and coming into my back garden.

    Rant over :o

  • Wow, Kit, no wonder you`re angry and upset! I hope the PSO visit makes her see reason.

  • Hi messies.
Welcome to all the new messies , I've finally read through all the posts since i was here last . You have been busy some days lol. A few of you seem to have a few dramas with water , some with pets and lots with illness hope you're all feeling better.

i've been missing for the last 7 weeks due to illness . I'm feeling much better now but am not allowed to potter around much at the moment. My house is now a very scruffy hovel. I was just getting on top of it and getting the decorating done when i got ill. My oh and the boys aren't much use . They have cooked , run the dishwasher and the washing machine but they never put anything away and the worktops need a good scrub and the sink is long overdue a clean looking at it. Oh well jobs i can do sitting down are ok.
I was hoping to get all the painting finished and carpets on both sets of stairs we've been here nearly 3 years . Oh well on the plus side i have decluttered loads of books by reading one or a two a day whilst i've been ill then passing them on to my dd friends . I also got loads of stuff listed on fleabay this week . Amazing what extended boredom does for me . Still hoping to meet my deadline of decorated and tidied by xmas yeah right.
My dgd got a new wardrobe , storage and bed 2 weeks ago my oh and the boys put them together then took all her toys up out of the living room . They helped her put them all away or on display and good girl she's kept them all tidy and taken them away if she had them downstairs. She's just 6 bless her .
Hoping we all have a good productive day tomorrow.
