    I've just discovered this thread,can I join in? its very encouraging.Today started with the cat being sick on the kitchen rug. yuck. I've spent time today sorting through paper work and disguarding a lot of stuff. Also tidying the side table and putting things away.I've also done some ironing and have dusted the house, re-sorted the book case and got some books out to give away. Also finally got round to hanging some photos on the wall, and baked some scones.

    Oh dear, Mumof2 - i know what it's like (V and J are two different children so I am also a mum of 2), mine are older than yours but they can still be troublesome - i spent a lot of yesterday with DS (12) helping with homework.

    I too need a list today
    • [STRIKE]
    • empty dishwasher and refill
    • rotate laundry and put some away
    • [/STRIKE][STRIKE]
    • ironing
    • gather all random paperwork onto kitchen table and recycle, shred, file
    • [/STRIKE][STRIKE]
    • make chicken stew with last nights carcass for tomorrows dinner (always nicer when it stands for a day, don't you think?)
    • make cheese lentil loaf for todays tea
    • [/STRIKE]any other tidying.
    • clean childrens bathroom - including demoulding :eek:
    I'd better get cracking

    Well that wasn't too bad, I also managed to do some important phone calls and ferry kids around a bit.
    I wanna be in the room where it happens

    Oldtractor you're welcome to join in - be lovely to have you here! Looks like you've made a great start already. Looking forward to getting to know you :wave:

    MummyEm good luck with the job - as you say it's good your CV is all up together. I'm sure they'll be very impressed by it and you'll be called in for an interview :) Have fun with the essay plan!

    Rummer you had a busy day yesterday too. Must have been something in the air I think!

    Yorkshirelass oh no, kidney infection - they are grim. The penicillin normally takes a day or two to kick in doesn't it but you should pick up quite quickly. Make sure you rest - that's an order!!! Sounds like your DH is like mine and very good at finding things not done quite 100% - makes me :mad: as I feel like saying well you do it then!

    VJsmum you did a lot from your list too - have you got a lot planned for today?

    Kittywight see, I told you you'd be able to get stuff done even though you were a bit bleugh!!! Well done you. Oh and for lunch yesterday I had pesto chicken, goats cheese, hummus, some beef dish in lovely rich gravy, vine leaves stuffed with rice and something else I can't remember. Very tasty it was too!

    Here's what I want to do today (apart from meeting my friend for coffee at 11 which I don't think is on the messy list!):

    * sort washing/make beds
    * clean bathroom
    * do inventory of what's in the cupboard food wise
    * walk the dog
    * post letter and buy milk

    I expect there'll be more. Just going to finish my coffee and then I'll get started.

    Rampant Recycler
    Hello all, been lurking for a while, house isn't too bad at the moment. I have a cleaner for two hours a week, and my friend who is out of work has offered to help with the bits that the cleaner doesn't do I've had two kitchen drawers overflowing with paperwork for years and finally got to sort through them. I found birthday cards from my father, who died in 1997, to my now adult children.
    I can't wait to give my daughter her card, so that she has something else to remember her beloved Grandad by. I also found a booklet from the hospital where my daughter was born in which I'd made notes about how my pregnancy was progressing, I thought I'd give her that too. Her own children are growing up fast, and having kept it for so many years it seems a shame not to pass it on.
    The booklet itself is a fascinating insight in to how new Mums were treated thirty - five years ago - babies kept in nurseries for the first few days, then moved to Mum's bedside - Mum was in for a week - feeding was four-hourly unless babies were very underweight. This was an Army hospital and the little bracelets round babies' wrists identified them by their Dads' Army number and rank... Talk about the past being another country and they do things differently there!
    Enough waffle.. back to work!
    Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.
  • morning folks :)

    Helen DS got on OK yesterday thanks but we've had a real fright coming home today as basically he was on his bike and tried to go through a gap past some people that wasn't there - he ended up on his side with his head and shoulders in the road. Thankfully there weren't any cars but it could have been so much worse. He's fine, bit shook up, and now is sat having a snack with his big sister. These things happen so quickly don't they - I was only about six steps behind him but there was nothing I could do. Horrid.

    Well done to those of you taking stuff to the charity shop and don't worry oldtractor at least you've got 4 books less than you had before :).

    My updated list doesn't look good as my friend who I thought would stay an hour stayed for 3 :eek: - good to have a catch up though!!!

    [STRIKE]* sort washing/make beds
    * clean bathroom [/STRIKE]
    * do inventory of what's in the cupboard food wise
    [STRIKE]* walk the dog
    * post letter and buy milk[/STRIKE]

    Got a typing job come in to do so must do that this evening - will try the inventory tomorrow (or at least make a start on it).
