    Still no heating. The boiler firm don't answer their phone until tomorrow morning.

    However, I haven't needed it on as we made an early start on half term's intended project-cutting down the hedge. Three trees felled, sawn up and transported to the recycling centre- I daren't count how many are left, but it hasn't made a very big gap relative to the length of the hedge...

    Well after my unproductive morning I had a productive afternoon.... just stopped and dont think I am going to move off the sofa again tonight!

    I have done:
    3 loads of washing and drying
    Dishwasher (unloaded, loaded, put on, unloaded)
    Made 2 shelves out of left over wood and put up in kitchen
    Tidied up utility room and scrubbed the floor
    Drilled holes in kitchen cupboard doors and fitted new handles
    Did some general tidying as I was pottering around

    I am quite impressed with myself! House still looks like a bombs hit it tho!!!

    Edit - oohh just remembered, I have sewn hanging tabs on all my tea towels too :)

    sorry just realised this isnt a very cheery post :)

    I have read and written far worse :D that is why we all come here to share our day to day ups and downs so feel free to vent at any time!

    Happy Birthday Candygirl :bdaycake: hope you have a lovely time!

    We decided today that instead of being grown up and cleaning the house and doing laundry that we would lie about in our PJs till late afternoon then go into town for a potter round the shops before having a very non MSE (yet delicious) dinner :D Now we are home and too stuffed to do anything!

    I am also considering going back to work 2/3 days a week. DH isn't convinced I could cope and doesn't really want kids in childcare loads either.

    [/QUOTE]

    We were faced with the same situation as you a couple of years ago MummyEm. The only way we could work it was for me to get a Saturday job (DH looks after the kiddiwinkies for free!), and then I've been fortunate enough that it's the kind of job where on a reasonably regular basis they need extra cover for people on holiday etc during the week. They know I can only work during school hours, so offer me half-day shifts. Is this something that you could consider? HTH :)

    Well I have had a nightmare weekend and it does not look to be getting any better

    Stripped spare bedroom, loads of filling to do, all ready to paint the ceiling and DF dropped 10 litres of white emulsion on the carpet - but not the one being thrown out today, but a very good condition one in the front bedroom - one insurance claim later

    Back bedroom and spare room both having carpet fitted today, but spare room still needs painting as by the time we had tried to clear paint in the other room it was too late to paint

    Now have double mattress and headboard in the bath, bed base in the bathroom, drawers from chest of drawers all over our bed, chest in the hallway, bedside cabinets and gibble from back bedroom in the front bedroom, strategically placed around the wet patch and don't even get me started on the washing piles and so on..........

    Off now for a cup of tea, load WM, empty DW, dust and hoover downstairs, at least if down stairs is relaxing I can chill later today.

    Have a good day all

    Feeling a bit bleugh today - dropped DS off at school for his first ever full day after having had to have stern words with him about racing his sister on the bike - she almost banged into the dustbin as he cut her right up :mad: I grabbed him by the hood - aren't they great things and told him off and now feel really mean but he's so competitive!

    Come home and got back ache, belly ache, feel bloated and icky and got stuff to do but would really like to go to bed with a hot water bottle - I'll be OK though - it's just 'that time' and a bit of exercise will do me good.

    OK - here's what I want to do:

    * Wash up all dishes from yesterday's roast (dishwasher was full was was drainer and didn't want to dry up) - bad aren't I :o
    * Sort out washing
    * Make beds
    * Vacuum right through

    That'll take me a while at current snail's pace but at least it's progress. Going out to lunch today with some friends so looking forward to that.

    MummyEm I look around for jobs from time to time but the problem is there really isn't much and I don't think £6.50 per hour is reasonable. I work from home doing audio typing for some property companies and it suits me fine; work's a bit erratic but even if I only bring in £100 a month it's money we wouldn't have had otherwise. There aren't many jobs around that do term time only part time hours are there.

    Oh dear, Mumof2 - i know what it's like (V and J are two different children so I am also a mum of 2), mine are older than yours but they can still be troublesome - i spent a lot of yesterday with DS (12) helping with homework.

    I too need a list today
    • empty dishwasher and refill
    • rotate laundry and put some away
    • ironing
    • gather all random paperwork onto kitchen table and recycle, shred, file
    • make chicken stew with last nights carcass for tomorrows dinner (always nicer when it stands for a day, don't you think?)
    • make cheese lentil loaf for todays tea
    • any other tidying.
    • clean childrens bathroom - including demoulding :eek:
    I'd better get cracking
    I wanna be in the room where it happens
  • hugs for mumof2

    i share yor pain, woke up this morning to discover my ds has ripped all the sealant off his bedroom window :(:(
    i give up ..... felt guilty about us not doing much past few days and me telling him off, so i had planned to take him to a local play area ....

    well !!!!!! that... we aint going now .... i just hope it hasnt caused any damage to the window :(:(

    this place is in such a mess :( but my mood is hardly making me want to become a domestic godess ...
    i dont know what to do :( i will hopefully try and do some housework later, maybe something in the kitchen...

    i would say id put ds in his room for a hour and do some cleaning ...... but hed probably just break something again :(

    gives up ....

    xx

    Thanks Kittywight and VJsmum - it's just horrible when you drop them at school after having not had a peaceful trip to school isn't it. It was all smiles when I dropped him off though and DD had gone in happily to junior school. Think to be honest I'm a bit wobbly due to him having gone to school full time; feel he's moving on and growing up so fast.

    Done - it wasn't so bad and the house does look better now :). I had a few phone calls to make - really annoying I can't because it seems the phone lines are down because of the wind (or at least I hope that's what it is).

    Want to do a bit more tidying up this afternoon as have a friend coming round for coffee tomorrow and don't want to have to spend all evening tidying - want to sit down with DH and relax this evening.

    Right, best get ready for going out to lunch hadn't I! Have a good day all x
