Can I join you messies Please:D
My house and garden have been a tip since I started working full time last sept, my now ex hub was house husband and low and behold with 4 kids in tow my home became a sty, we split in Feb and I quit my job to look after sprogs and I am still trying to get it all in order. I now have a lovely new man and have finally got rid of exs urm junk I think its called lol.
Today i have missioned and cleaned and tidied the entire house ( its only small) bar my eldests dds room, knowing full well it will look just as bad in a few days time. I really should be getting off my bootie and clearing up the dishes from dinner but really cant be a*sed. I suffer with bi polar and really struggle with motivation have no idea where it appeared from today. My new man is a clean freak - how did one of them find me :rotfl: so I hate it when he gets home and its a sty again, especially when he runs round like a headless chook cleaning:o, Makes me feel like poop especially when I know how hard he works (REMOVAL MAN) . I am determinged to get it sorted. so I am hear to share my sucess and Failures.
Right must get off here and do something, probably take one look at the kitchen and come and lurk again:eek:

Could have been put slightly less harshly maybe......but they do have a good point. Teenagers should be more than capable of helping with household chores...some lesson in life skills may benefit them in the future.

Am kinda scared of the length my list will be tho! However at least I could cross things off and see that I am making some progress.
If you keep the short list easily achievable then you get a big feeling of success at handling it all.
Then go back to big list, cross off items and make another short list. And so on. It works for me as otherwise I get paralysed by the sight of the big list!0 -
Teens need to pushed to help at times. Id go on strike ie stop doing the washing for the oldest ones, stop getting them up, no pocket money unless they help. Draw up a rota of chores and if they dont do theirs you dont do the above.
My son helps with dishes, hoovering and even the odd evening meal. My dd helps take out dishes ,tidy up and feed the animals and she is eight. Its up to you to be the boss .0 -
Hi Kittywight, welcome.
I think I am going to steal your idea of writing it all down. Why havent I thought of that before?!
Am kinda scared of the length my list will be tho! However at least I could cross things off and see that I am making some progress.
Thanks :T
When I'm brave enough to dig through the vast piles of paper on every surface I occasionally find lists that I wrote in say, 2004, and have crossed off one item, eg remember to put bins out. Successive lists get everything transferred onto them, and more added, but never actually get shorter.
Writing them on HERE is a brilliant idea, no more bits of paper. But what to do about the newspaper and magazine cuttings... recipes I'll never cook, gardening tips for veg I'll never grow, travel tips for places I'll never visit, jokes and anecdotes I'll never remember, tips on decluttering that I'll never follow... not to mention years of bills and statements from the days before going "paperless"! They drive me to despair but equally they're my security blanket, I can't bear to think of throwing out that article on where to have lunch in Barcelona, torn out of a Sunday paper in 1996...
I don't buy papers, we use them at work for wrapping, so all my cuttings come from there. They're very MSE cuttings.
Up late listening to Pink Floyd night on BBC6, excellent.0
