Been a long and tiring day today so I am currently relaxing on the couch watching bad TV and willing the mess in the living room to go away, sadly the fairies seem to be on strike :rotfl:
Taking responsibility one penny at a time!
  • Hi Rummer,

I don't think the fairies are on strike they're busy in my house! My OH has just washed up and cleaned the kitchen work surfaces. :j

Has to be a result of some form of magical intervention as I didn't even have to pester him.

    Enjoy your evening :)
  • hello everybody
hope you all dont mind me dropping in :) this is my first post

ive been lurking on the forums for a while now but have only just joined

i quite often struggle with housework and routine, suffer with depression anxiety ect, so cleaning isnt really my kinda thing :/
i am getting better though, starting to make lists, try and get a little done each day :)

here is my current lists :

    bathroom:

buy pot pourri for bathroom ornamental bowl (ill do this tommorow, with pot pourri from poundland :D )

paint the bathroom (this is what i am most dreading :( ive painted several parts of the bathroom, 2 coats of white paint and 5 coats of navy blue... the last person who lived here used some kind of mad oil paint on the walls ... and it will not be covered :(:( im going to go to b&q buy dark red paint (or probably black!!!) and just cover the lot... i refuse to be beaten lol)

bleach and wipe toilet/sink and bath (ill prob do this tommorow too )

telephone the council to come fix the light (ill do this tommorow too)

    livingroom:

tidy up and hoover (will do this tommorow its not too bad)
de clutter the mantlepiece/fireplace (everything seems to be stuck on there )
    paint the 2 walls
unpack the boxes from inside the dresser (theyve been in there for over a year when i moved in i never unpacked them :( )

    hallway:

hoover and put books back in bookcase (ill do this tommorow)

    DS bedroom:

    hoover (will do this tommorow)
paint windowsill (ill do this tommorow too, theres just a small patch missing , will only take a sec )

    kitchen:

    wipe down cupboards
take rubbish out (will do this tommorow)
2 loads of washing and some tumbledrying (do this tommorow too)

    my bedroom:

now this is the hard one :(
have lots of clothes that need to be hung up and vac packed (will try start some vacpacking tommorow)
when all the clothes are cleared i shall hoover
    then declutter
    then paint

i put so much focus on other rooms in the house, that my bedroom is just a place to sleep :/

anyways, thats my soon to do list ... it seems like a lot now ive written it down, it obviously isnt that much
its just a case of managing to do some everyday (and by the time i get it done more builds up)

hope everyone doesnt mind me crashing in on the thread :)
    hello to you all

Wow - looks like everyone has been really busy - and a huge list from kittywight! I've been mising due to stuff going on and a week's holiday - realised there that the holiday cottage looked so lovely because it's not full of carp! :rotfl:

I had a kick up the backside last night, sister has announced she and new partner would like to come and stay for a weekend near to Christmas - we are busy for most of December, but there is one weekend that we have spare - so that does give me several weeks to gut the house and get it presentable - it will need decorating too! She gave me the usual 'we are coming to see you, not your house' talk - but her new partner has not visited us yet, first impressions and all that! Plus the house she has left was always neat and clean and tidy - I'm in a panic just thinking about it. I suppose I could always try and rise to the challenge - or chicken out and make an excuse that we are busy that weekend too! Decisions, decisions, eh?!
    :j Almost 2 stones gone! :j

    Hello :)

Just wanted to say that I also suffer from depression (I have Atypical Bipolar Disorder) and I find lists and routines really helpful. Have you checked out the FlyLady thread on here? Lots of lists and encouragement on there :)

    Hello
Could I join you please? I've been so close to tears all week because I just feel totally overwhelmed atm :(.

I Work full time have 4 teenagers, dog and hubby (in that order this week). I'm up at six each day and try to do a little bit, lunches, breakfasts and getting everyone off to college, work, school. work 8 hours, get in cook for six, wash up, do some washing, vac and tidy living room, walk dog and just don't have time to do any nitty gritty. The house actually feels dirty.

My OH's youngest came to live with us last year and we don't have room for her (have tried selling up and we're now planning on a garage conversion instead) so she's on the sofa and I have a wardrobe in my living room. It all just feels so chaotic!
kitchen floor, door fronts, skirtings and all the cupboards are minging. the kitchen desperatly needs re-doing as the wallpaper is hanging off the walls but the garage is our priority now. I have clutter everywhere :(

Oh...and my OH has been 'poorly' all week.

I'll use this space to keep a list then I might be more inclined to do it.
I'm seeing friends tonight (a rarity) so only have one hour when I get in tonight so will:

-vac & tidy LR - haven't vacced in 2 days, hairy dog + light carpets = disgrace
-hang out the washing put in this am
-clean out 1 kitchen cupboard (under the sink one as its the worst..I think there's a leak and lots of mouldy things in there:o:o)
    -Sweep and mop kitchen
I'm not cooking OH can fend for himself + kids tonight.

    Sorry for the rant:o:o

ETA My wish list/bigs jobs for October

    Hi Kittywight, welcome.

I think I am going to steal your idea of writing it all down. Why havent I thought of that before?!
Am kinda scared of the length my list will be tho! However at least I could cross things off and see that I am making some progress.

    Thanks :T

Hello and welcome to all the newbies

My cat keep leaving dead things around my living room and I am so  today so far I have had to remove 3 dead mice and a live one. Of course I know it is all part of her nature and that she is technically bringing me gifts I am fed up with it! Mind you she does seem really proud of herself :rotfl:

Been totally knackered this week trying to get on top of things and the bedroom is wild after OH painting it as he has just left mess every where. I am far to tired to deal with it however it feels as if it is hanging over my head like a dark cloud. Oh and lets not forget the ever breeding laundry

Moan over ladies, thank you for listening :D

    Afternoon all

Welcome and hi to Kitty and Ellas - baby steps is the big mantra that we tell each other - jobs become overwhelming because of the size of them - break them down even further so that bit by bit they get done i.e "wardrobes" - should be; open doors, deep breaths, sit down and get over the shock, pull out something, look at it and remember the time you wore it, put it back, sit back down, breath some more, close the doors :] :]

Only joking but do take it step by step and reward yourself for doing things, Ella - have you a rota or jobs list that the teens can help with
