Morning Messies
It has been a long time since I have been up and about at this time in the morning! I came down to be greeted by a pile of cat sick and a dead mouse  both of which have now been dealt with bleugh. I am now trying to convince myself that getting the house work out the way now will leave me with the whole day to relax but my body is refusing to leave the couch :rotfl:
Today I need to:- meal plan
- laundry (loads as usual)
- dishwasher
- polish and hoover
- wipe down the kitchen and bathroom
- wash the floors
- clean out the animals
- get the bedroom back in order
Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
HI everyone...sorry I've been MIA again this week - where do the weeks go? Decided to have a weekend in the house, blitzing! The list started about Wednesday and this is what I want to achieve this weekend...ahem...
- catch up washing (approx 6 loads)
- catch up ironing ( above mentioned 6 loads plus about 3 loads already in basket
)
- hang pictures in bedroom
- connect bedroom sky and tv - something seems to have gone wrong with the aerial when i decorated
- clear out 2 bags and a cupbaord in bedroom
- polish all through house
- hoover all through house
- clean back upvc door - it's a disgrace
- clean shower screen - another disgrace
- dye hair (bought dye about 6weeks ago)
- look at son's school report from july and compare to previous one to see if any improvement!
- paint a small set of drawers in kitchen (nick nack drawers, not chests)

Hi, messies, new and old!!
I don't know if I've gone forwards or back today. I think I've decided that there is no point spending limited resources (money OR time) on the kitchen until I have enough of both to rip it out and start again. So I got out the old paint tin and painted over all the patches of paint sample. There are EIGHT mini pots on the top of the fridge, and I haven't really found the right one yet
So..at least it looks clean and tidy again. And I decided to use the leftover hall paint to freshen up, too. I'd been doing a bit of filling, and it's surprising how quickly a house can start to look like a repo.:o
So I'm back to square one, albeit with a bit more of a plan. And I guess that's got to be better than square minus five, hasn't it?import this0 -
Hi Everyone and welcome to new posters,
I've not had a good day. I cleaned the kitchen this morning and then made start on the living room.
Last job was the dusting and this is when it all went wrong.
I managed to knock a Murano glass ornament off the mantle piece it hit the marble hearth and shattered I was really upset because it was a tenth anniversary present that my OH bought me on a trip we had to Venice. I'm even more upset now as I just noticed it has taken a huge lump out of the marble hearth
I'm not cut out for this cleaning mularky! Off to drown my sorrows in a bottle of wine.0 -
Evening
Well I went back to bed and have done next to nothing :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
I have however cleaned out the animals who are now bedded down for the night and nibbling away on their treats. Hubby is going to finish off the bedroom painting tomorrow and put up the curtains so it will look a bit more finished.
In the morning I will work through the list I posted today however in the meantime I am going to have a wee glass of wine and relax with Criminal MindsTaking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
Hello messies - welcome to any newbies that I haven't already said hello to! I've had a lazy day - I've had a slight cold and feel very tired. I went back to bed in the afternoon today and slept for a couple of hours.
House is still very messy, and will remain so until half term I think. I am just managing to keep the kitchen tidy and stay on track with MSE cooking/eating - have resisted takeaways since the beginning of the summer!
One MSE change that has resulted in less mess is keeping the "pantry" tidy. I now know what I have in there, and can get anything out easily. It used to be a case of "open door, throw item in, close door quickly before everything else falls out"! That was also bad for keeping on top of use by dates. So one small victory in the endless mess battle that is cloudy towers!I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

My new boiler doesn't work
I switched on the heating for the first time today, and five minutes later the boiler went off. At first I thought I must have done something stupid with the timer, but after trying everything I could think of, I got out the boiler manual. Troubleshooting no. 1...is the gas on (yes)...no. 2...is the green light on the boiler switched on? Er...no. No power. And I can't find any obvious reason why.
I'm feeling slightly relieved that I went for the slightly pricier quote from the local-firm-with-a-good-reputation, as I'm reasonably sure they'll come out and fix it pronto. But I thought I'd managed to get this done in the school holidays...and I'm a bit fed up. Nothing gets me down more than the reemergence of something I think I've crossed off the list.
And...I know it's unlikely, but if I have to take DD's floor up again, I *will* cry.import this0 -

Evening all. Have had a strange week where nothing seemed to quite go according to plan. Have managed to get some housework done though. I really must get the kitchen finished next week. Laurel, hope that boiler is easy to fix, lets hope its something simple.
I have got the chimney sweep coming on Wednesday so we can get the fires lit. No point in doing any major cleaning in the kitchen/diner or lounge until thats done. Plenty to do elsewhere though! Must try and get the grass cut and do some gardening next week as well. Mind you the weather forecast isnt great.
Do I sound like I am just making excuses or what!!!0
