Afternoon everyone :D and welcome to the new messies

I have been keeping off my PC for a few days so I can get some decluttering done :o

I have taken 4 big bags of stuff to the CS this morning and cleared out my wardrobe of clothes I don't (can't get into) wear any more most to go on ebay, I missed the free listing this weekend as it would let me list anything  I think the whole world and his dog were on listing.

I did get all my ironing done and peeled a wash bowl full of apples my sister had scrumped from work for me :D they are now cooked and put in the freezer for apple pies when I get time :rotfl:

It is so lovely to have the house to myself again, just me and little dog :D
I decided that Ive done enough the last few days so this is my day to sew another bag :D:D
Hope everyone is doing ok and ((hugs)) for those that need them x
Getting myself sorted 1 day/1thing at a time :) and Love sewing :)

Mumof2 - I've started Xmas shopping - about 1/4 of the way through it

Oh good, you can try and encourage me too then please ;)! My vacuum cleaner is getting a bit honky too but it still works well (should do, only 3 months old!)

Feeling really proud of myself - here's what I've done in the kitchen:
    Cleaned the sink and drainer
Cleaned the bottom and a few shelves of the fridge plus thrown away some [STRIKE]science projects[/STRIKE] food a day past its best
Wiped down all the white goods
    Wiped over the hob
Wiped down the worktops - even moved stuff!
    Cleaned the windowsill
Emptied and cleaned the bin with Zoflora - it was minging :o
    Cleaned the floor

Now having a cuppa and better try to do a bit more typing. Have to fetch the dog and have a quick tidy in the LR before DH gets home and then out tonight.

How's everyone else doing? I look forward to hearing :)

ETA: Hi Hart 44! Sounds like you've been really busy today too!

    Hi

I am a confirmed messy. My house is constantly in a state of dump and frankly it's depressing.

I have a DH who walks around with blinkers on and two small children. I have told the 6 year old if he keeps his room clean/tidy I will pay some pocket money, unfortunately the 2 year old doesn't have the same view :D

I work full time and find the time contraints and motivation are what get me. Out the house by 7.15am home by 5pm then straight into cooking dinner, then getting kids bathed and ready for bed. I'm not back downstairs until 8pm and then too knackered to want to do anything.

DH has no idea, he had the whole house to himself on Saturday, all day, and did nothing. I did mention it that he didn't even empty the washing machine to which he said he didn't notice it was full... even though it's electronic and has a bright light saying END.

But I can't turn this into a rant about DH. A leopard isn;t going to change his spots.

I'm going to try the fly ladies I think and see how I get on. Maybe once I've tackled the mountain of ironing. At least I got DS's name tags on his uniform in time :T

  • Hi all, welcome newbies.

Naomim, I am a bit like you, my DH just does not see mess, unless he trips over it. After 20 years I have given up trying to change him, its a waste of energy. Mind you I am getting slightly uptight about the huge bags of football kit that have taken up residence in my utility room (he's a footie coach in his spare time) but he assures me they will be moved on - soon.

Managed to get DS1 into school for the morning so we are all buzzing. He even managed to enjoy it. I know from past experience that its not always going to be this easy but its a start. I do love my kids but so nice to have a morning on my own!

I have just had a general tidy and hoover today. Need to sort out some paperwork as I couldnt find my driving licence the other day which is niggling me a bit. I seem to be accumulating random piles of paper again which is annoying.

And yeah Mumof2 I had a bit of a run in with a member of my family last week which really upset me. This person didnt intend to hurt me but it was a case of not thinking before opening their mouth!

Oh and I am not even thinking about Christmas yet, but I have been saving all year which is good - especially as the kids are talking about wanting netbooks!

Right need to get moving before DS2 comes home in a few minutes. Need to get the washing in before it blows into next doors hedge!

Hi everyone new and old. Iv been a bit slow with the housework as Iv scratched my eye ball. Its less painfull than it was but still watering.

Southport will have to wait until next week otherwise Ill be walking around with an eye patch, lol.

Iv put on another load of washing and oh has cleaned the livingroom and kitchen. Feels sorry for me.

Well done to those who are keeping up with the housework.

Iv found a tip for new shoes to make the leather soft, use a candle to rub on the bits that need it.

Oh Candygirl thats made me laugh, the image of the dogs peeing on the floor and the little one running riot. I am glad my house is not the only one in total choas. OH is trying to mend a leak under the sink which meant everything had to come out of the cupboard while I was trying to feed everyone, bake some teacakes and sort the washing.

Just done my finances for last month and am horrified at how much I spent on food. Of course I knew it would be more because the kids were at home and we went on a self catering holiday - but not that much!!! Need to get back to being very old style this month.

Hi Messies - how are you all today?

Candygirl you made me smile too! Jelly tots do go everywhere I know! I wonder why the dogs peed on the floor; thankfully mine doesn't do that (the one good thing about her).

Yorkshirelass food is so pricey isn't it. We spent a lot too - frightening how quickly it all mounts up. I'm a lot more careful now than I ever used to be and always check all the offers online and make the most of BOGOF on non-perishable stuff. My DH is very similar to yours too by the sound of it and has such a blind eye to mess that it's unbelievable

Snookey thanks for that tip about new shoes and candles; will try that with DS's new school shoes.

Naomin - hi to you too! Did you get through all that ironing?

Had a traumatic morning on 3 counts -

1 - DD didn't want me to walk her right the way to school; I had to drop her off by DS's infant school (or it will be on Monday sob sob) - she wanted me to drop her off around the corner but I peeped behind the trees and watched her :o. She's perfectly safe, lots do it and she's only on the pavement with no junctions to cross but it's a big step. Oh, and she wouldn't hold my hand because 'I'm a big girl now Mum, I am Year 4'.

2 - DS had his teacher come to see him at home this morning. It went really well and he was happy and confident but it seems like only yesterday she was coming to see DD!

3 - DS has his last ever day at nursery today - gone off armed with sweets and chocolates for his friend. We've been going there since 2004 as DD went there too so it's a real wrench.

So there you are! I've made myself better by gathering together 2 black bags full of stuff for the charity shop plus a few other bits and am going to drop that off shortly and then give the dog a good walk and blow away the cobwebs.

Cup of coffee first though - anyone else want one? ;)

Mumof2 - I'll have that coffee!! I've just got the internet up and running [fingers crossed]. I moved the computer and all its bits from the DR to the K [we need to monitor what DS is logging on to] but it has involved a major upheaval and there is stuff and dust bunnies everywhere so its all being sorted as its moved. So by the end of today the DR will be lovely [apart from the pile of ironing] so thats 2 rooms in 2 days
And I'm sure that DS will love school and just think of all that messy cleaning you'll be able to do hehe

Dogs peeing yes my dog does. Its soap powder and bleach at the ready in our house. He does it in the kitchen next to the freezer and if you dont look first ,bang, you end up in it splayed out on the floor. Oh did this the other day.
Mum of 2 its hard when they start big school although Im heartless and could not wait till mine did, lol. He will love it Im sure.

I cleaned the kitchen last night so got up to a nice pristine one. Makes all the differance when you wake up and realise its one less job.
Confession, clothing still in the suitcases, lazy cow, lol. Im going to put them away later as they are all clean thanks to the laundrette on the site we were on.
    See you later messy people.
