    Congratulations Candygirl x

The 6 week holiday is over and I am due back in school on monday. I have got loads done over the holiday ie decluttering, painting and preparing for winter but the house is such a mess and it is mainly the bits you see. To be honest most of the cupboards are tidy but oh my goodness we are so untidy. Nevermind at least I wont see it for most of the day when I'm at work.

Candygirl - congrats on being a Nana, hope DD is okay

DH and I have overhauled the front garden this afternoon, we grew Potatoes out there last year and once we dug them up we left the garden as it was - mus - all we did was sometimes dig it over to get rid of the weeds. We have de-weeded, planted some plants, helped next door trim the boundary hedge, shift some slabs and give them away on Freecycle and generally tidy up. Its looking very good out there

I'm now away to be entertained by DH - cor 2 glasses of wine and I'm easily pleased lol

    Have a nice evening everyone

Enjoy Helen! Pollys, I'm in exactly the same boat as you, school on Monday and I haven't done all the stuff I thought I'd do over the hols, especially things like sorting out work clothes - must do that tomorrow. I did paint the kitchen and make it nicer to use, but just as Laurel says, you make one room nice and the mess is all over the other rooms!

Upstairs looks like a group of students have been living there. My bedroom is reasonably tidy, but the other rooms are horrendous. I think I will have to do things a little bit at a time, as many people on here recommend - I do favour the "blitz it all in one go" method normally, but because those days when I'm actually motivated to do that are about six years apart, it's just not working!

Blimey Rummer you're at it again! It must be catching because one thing I did manage to do today was empty out the "pantry" (large floor to ceiling cupboard in the corner of the kitchen) and to a stocktake, putting it all back nice and neatly so that now I can get a tin of beans out without getting buried under an avalanche of bags of pasta! Wonder how long that will stay tidy!

Well done! The problem is keeping the house tidy is like a full time job in itself, I just don't know how people do it :o

I know, you're so right Rummer! I've never had a completely tidy house but there have been times when most of it was done, and I felt so good, almost like I was in a hotel or something! I have no idea how people keep houses totally tidy all the time - I guess I just don't have the tidy gene :o

    :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Todays plan is - go to lottie and actually do something there, go for a walk round nearby Lakes, plant Daff bulbs, flake out on sofa and do some more knitting

Hope you all have a lovely day and that the weather is kind to you

I've finished washing, and ironed work clothes for the week this morning.

I'm just evicting dust bunnies (i.e. hoovering the stairs!), cleaning the bedroom and changing the bed, then I'm done for the day and will be putting my feet up and chilling out as it's back to school tomorrow

    Have a lovely day everyone!

or me. I am back tomorrow as well as the children. Mind you I do confess after six weeks off school I am starting to miss the children I work with. I just have so much left to do at home though.

I am an intermittent contributor of this thread - an irregular regular, you might say - but my home really is a mess at the moment. After 6 weeks of summer holidays which has included 2 camping trips, we have stuff EVERYWHERE.

There is a gas bottle in the toilet, my husbands razor is on the mantel piece of the lounge, i found a hairbrush under the cooker, laundry all over the conservatory, together with a tent that is drying out and deposited mud all over the floor. My niece has been in the spare room so we haven't been able to deposit in there, meaning that there are sleeping bags all over the landing with pillows. My kids volunteered to "navvy" on a preserved steam railway so i have overalls and work boots to deal with as well. It feels a little overwhelming.

SO what have i done today to help reduce this pile - made green tomato chutney, bread pudding and chicken soup!! :rotfl:

Editing to add, gas bottle is in the toilet room, rather than the toilet bowl, you understand!
I wanna be in the room where it happens
