I've come to realise there are several stages in decorating...

the "this is going to be a piece of cake" stage (before starting, to psych myself into it),

the "Oh my good lord why did I ever start this" stage (every few minutes at the moment),

the "well that wasn't quite as bad as I thought it would be" stage (rare but wonderful),

the "hope no one notices what I did there" stage (again, every few minutes!!)

and finally the "I'm sick and tired of this and need something sweet or deep fried to keep me going" stage (followed closely by the "right, well I can do the next bit tomorrow now" stage!

I'm at the "Oh my good lord why did I ever start this" stage AND "right, well I can do the next bit tomorrow now" stage!

Best of luck Hart! Fingers crossed for you.

Laurel, so glad someone else thinks like I do (re. eliminating dirt traps) - I do that all the time and some parts of the house only ever get cleaned when I do the decorating, which is... erm... very infrequently. Then I find cobwebs a foot long and wonder how I missed them before - actually I think I have selective vision when it comes to mess :rotfl:

Good luck to all, I'm off to wash the dust off a cup so I can have some coffee before I start farting around in the kitchen again :D

I'm at a kind of crossroads career wise, due to the lack of supply work in my area with gov cuts, so am looking at doing something different. No idea what yet though.Really fancy running a country pub with OH, although I know it's very hard work:D:D
Good luck with the interviews gals:D:D

was meant to be spending the day cleaning the house today but needed a couple of bits from the shops so popped out with the kids, only just got back!

Will be cleaning this pm but also have a meeting tonight I need to do some prep for. All I really want to do is go to bed :(

Still have managed to get the WM on which is now beeping madly at me so must go empty that. Then lunch for everyone then cleaning. Seems a shame, lovely sunny day too...

On the plus side, have decluttered 6 ebay parcels so that's helping the bank balance and the mess :rotfl:

Sorry I haven't had time to catch up on the thread. Hope everyone is well, will have a read tomorrow if I get 5 mins.

ETA Just to add to that, so I feel like I haven't wasted the whole day, I did also manage to switch our gas and elec supplier fixing at a cheaper deal than our current one?! and earning £25 cashback. Switched onto the deal Martin mentioned in this weeks mail - works out really well for us

Hart fingers crossed you get good news about the job.

I de cluttered my twins out for an interview today at a new distribution centre opening in the area. A friend text me last night to ask if i knew anyone looking for a job as they had empty interview slots today so i decluttered them and they got jobs and have induction friday then 4 days training then all systems go so am happy for them. Decluttered daughters boyfriend to same place and he's hired too so a good days decluttering for me.
Done beggar all else but was up till late as my dil rang to say she had her new baby they live in the us . Then my other grandaughter came this morning and when her mum tried to take her home she burst into tears and said i'm staying with grandma so she's still here.lol.

Ohh well done Candygirl! I do my parents' lawns which are mahoosive too, and mine which is medium sized. it's like painting the fourth bridge all summer!

Well done Helen as well, my bedrooms are too dusty and messy to mention!

Hang in there MummyEm - hope the meeting isn't too much of a pain later. And brilliant with the better deal on gas and elec!

Wow Craftygranny, that's spectacular! Jobs are so hard to come by these days - well done!

I haven't done much on the kitchen today, as it finally dawned on me that the fridge part of my fridge freezer is knackered. Had to defrost it as it was iced up at the back but not cooling anything very well. Looks like I'll be looking for a new fridge freezer soon :(
