My home is a mess

I've had a very slow start to the day - had a lie-in till about 9, pottered around till about 11.30, then went to tesco for a value bits and bobs shop after reading the value thread! Got heaps of stuff really cheap and all of it very acceptable, equally good as expensive stuff.
Soooo... the dreaded kitchen! Am about to tackle the most difficult bit, over the sink area and next corner, where the shower in the bathroom above has leaked (a little bit) for yonks and the plaster is all mouldy. It's so nice outside today, I don't feel like starting! I will certainly be sneaking into the garden for a few lazy sit downs with ice drinks.
Got some towels in the washer, desperately trying to get those done and dry before the rain sets in this week - no TD here either!
The living room (where all the kitchen stuff currently is) is getting harder and harder to navigate... I want to get my small electric whisk out so I can make some instant whip dessert but goodness knows where it's buried!!
Have a lovely day all, and whatever gets done or doesn't get done, never mind the mess, enjoy the sun!!I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

Well I managed a quick hoover round downstairs this morning before had some friends over for playdate. Lunch for 4 kiddies and 2 grown ups, DW on, swept up. Friends now have gone home so just vegging on sofa with DD, DS fallen asleep. we are all shattered after a late night last night.
Have a bolognaise sauce on the hob bubbling away.
4 loads of washing on the line drying. I must remember to put pegs on my shopping list as don't have enough for both outside washing line when they are full!
House needs a good clean top to bottom but will have to wait until Weds as have people over tomorrow again.
I have declutter an item on ebay, sold for £51 + postage, I only bought it for £55 inc postage a couple of years ago!!
Have a few more items finishing tonight so will need to do some wrapping tonight ready to post tomorrow. This should help towards my 100 day debt challenge as overdraft is looking a bit
Will be spending this evening ironing and may also clear out the fridge as need to check what we need for next few days foodwise as don't want to do my main shop until end of the week.0 -
I made a start on the living room last night - quite a bit of paper etc shoved into the binbag already. The dust is horrendous again - but then I seem to live in an area where there is permanent building work and permanent roadworks - everything gets caked in dust.
Watered the tomatoes again - I do wish the fruit would grow a bit bigger but I am guessing I would need to be watering morning noon and night:eek:0 -
I've been round and watered some things today too (good excuse for skiving off doing the kitchen of course!) I know it's going to rain soon but I think one or two things in pots would have been beyond help by tomorrow.I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

Evening messies. Goodness it's quite dark already!! Not a very productive day. Muck up at chemist over DS sleep meds took until 5pm to get sorted:mad: had run in with my dad this am dropping DD off upset me and then dropped DS off at my mums and poured my heart out. Cup of tea and a good cry, felt better for it. 2 hours with M&S on phone in total!! Many apologies given. Started clearing kids bedroom floor from my daughters attempt at a floorobe!! OH has gone to pick up DD from day out with my dad, he's apparently told my Dad to lay off me, he's only making me more anxious and depressed.
Need to do more to kids room and then hopefully we'll find a few missing items of clothing! Managed to wash a very manky orthapaedic v cushion thingy, came up lovely saved myself a tenner, very MSE!! Can't wait to sort out my bedroom and make it somewhere I can relax. Need a kick up the bum please! Hope everyone is ok today. Rain forecast tomorrow so no more washing on line.0 -
Kitchen renovations...eek. The boiler is being replaced a week on Friday, which leaves me precisely 0 days of holiday left to do the kitchen afterwards. I don't know whether to feel desperate or relieved!
Anyway, don't seem to be doing much, but I think I'm less tired. The car is fixed-and the garage only charged me for the parts! Lots of cooking and freezing and much garden pottering. I keep scheduling myself a day of guilt-free nothing, but I keep "I'll just"-ing it away.
On the plus side, the big box of "just-in-case" paperwork I was keeping for my course has been consigned to the recycling, and I'm playing around with designs for my new business cards...I don't know how much private tuition there is out there, but we'll see!import this0 -
Oh aren't you all being very good unlike me. Full of good intentions but nothing went right so gave up and will start again tomorrow.
went to put the washer on wouldn't spin so flooded utility room taking it all out then opened it up (more floods) and found 70p in the pump. Works now fingers crossed so just put it on again. was going to sort more of my craft stash this morning but boys rang to say will we pick them up today instead of tomorrow. Just got back from collecting them when no 1 son rang and said he forgot to tell me he was working today from 4 and needed me to pick up and mind the baby from 3.30 till baby's mum got home at 6 . Then i went shopping at 8 thought it would save me a job tmz and i might get summat done then instead ,Cross Stitch Challenge Member Number 20

Hi Messies! Some of you have been very productive this weekend. I`m afraid I HAVEN`T...I had a weekend off, my weekend didn`t start till 9.30 after a long shift on the Friday. Got home, made a mince beef curry (with hard boiled eggs -yum) and dragged myself into the shower while it was festering quietly in the oven, before allowing myself to wind down, wet hair, glass of wine and a bit of telly - i-player, actually.
Saturday, a rare afternoon visit to the pub (Real Ale!) as OH was off too. Made a quick but very hearty chicken stew from leftovers plus a couple of rubber chicken breasts & anything that needed using/wasn`t off -had a stock-take/clear-out of fridge for this, made space for next shopping. Added tiny Rizi pasta and leftover stuffing too. We all ate LOADS, bowls refilled, dog had a tiny bit before I put pan to soak. Made a small fire in the hearth - only used one log. Asleep by 9.30 due to afternoon beer, full bellies to sleep off, and OH up at 6 for work Sunday.
Sunday was hot & sunny here, Took myself to the carboot. Where I managed to walk every inch of the field, refresh my suntan, and spend very little. Then, still dusty from carboot, probably looking like Granny Clampit, to Asda & Mr T`s to seek for Sunday afternoon Whoopsies. Got 4 bags of half price charlotte poratoes, some well whoopsied pork loin steaks and whole free range chicken, marinated the pork for Sunday supper and baked the chicken for tonight. Steamed a load of charlottes, had half last night tossed with mushrooms and red onions, kept the rest back for tonight.
Up at 6 today, out ten minutes earlier than usual to drop OH at work other side of hospital, home 9.30 and made some Coronation Chicken -ish dressing, but left the chicken legs/wings on the bone, dolloped the coronation effort over the cold charlottes /tomatoes cucumber and 2 tired pakchoi hearts. It had to be quick tonight as OH is working early again tomorrow. It WAS nice, cheap, and quick- due to forward planning- and it was enthusiastically devoured, with compliments and scraped clean plates....
Which is WHY I do this...LURCHING from a day at Work which I love and where I try to give my ALL, to coming home and wanting to attempt the domestic goddess bit....I wouldn`t bother that much for myself with the cooking, but the house would be much tidier and cleaner.
My lot - OH, DS, and DGD who`s here 50 percent of her life, they like to EAT, so that`s where my energies are focussed. That`s why MY Home Is a Mess! Any spare bits of my time outside of work that aren`t shopping/cooking are about laundry (whites are still white except DGD`s socks!) and comfort, and the odd day where I claim a CBA day to keep myself sane.0
