    Horace - [hugs]
Crafty - well done on getting so many jobs sorted - wonder woman!!
Sentora - happy birthday and I have to put the ironing away otherwise it ends up on the floor and needs re-doing. . . . by me!!!
Yorkshire - aw shame about the job - hope something wonderful comes along soon
Oldtractor - have a cuppa and put your feet up for 5
Pollys - well done on doing the blinds and the oven

    Apologies if I've missed anyone

I've done more washing [up to date with that] and an hours ironing would finish it all off but not tonight as I've had enough!!

    Sleep tight all

Yorkshirelass, I'm doing much more of the "hope no one notices..." thing at the moment! When it comes to decorating in this house I have had to rein in my aspirations and settle for a lick of paint and the holes filled in. Professional it aint... but it does look fresh and clean when it's done. I am now a big believer in just getting on with it and not sweating the little things like brush marks, dints and plaster marks in the walls, the odd crack reappearing or a drip in the gloss here and there.

I just wish the previous owners hadn't put up wallpaper (presumably in the 60's, judging by the pattern) that is not only waterproof but very probably nuclear meltdown proof. They could have done with this stuff in Fukushima, I tell you. I can't get it off the walls, and the hand held steamer I ordered from Amazon (£14.99, meant for small cleaning jobs but should work for steaming wallpaper too) is inexplicably delayed somewhere in Royal Mail's cavernous bowels.

Was a bit lazy today, didn't get much done. Will be more feverish tomorrow, I need to get this finished by early next week.

Sorry to hear about the job as well - I hate it when the job spec isn't what they let you believe. Hey, I've been a cleaner in the past too and loved it! You wouldn't credit it really would you - I never clean my own place. Like Wesker says, getting paid for it really does make a difference.

Horace best of luck to you too. Sorry about the holiday, and the depression. I find walking really helps me when I'm down, but it's quite hard to pluck up the motivation to actually get out and walk sometimes.

Happy birthday from me too Sentora!

I feel completely overwhelmed. we have a couple of major diy projects going on including redesigning the garden. i feel exhausted. i will try and do 15 mins dusting and washing up later.

Big home projects ongoing are such an emotional rollercoaster, no wonder you feel exhausted. Like Helen jelly says, be nice to yourself, say sod it for today, have a few treats and watch some telly or a film.

I didn't get my job either Yorkshirelass :( but I do have a job so I am lucky but the hours are too late and the new job would have been better but as I always say ''there is a reason for everything'' maybe it's beacause there is a better job I am supposed to get, maybe when DS goes to high school next year I will get a PT day job :o

I am a cleaner and a very good one too, just not in my home :rotfl: but then like Wesker said I get paid for cleaning other places not my home though :rotfl:

  • Hello Messies. Been reading and lurking as I've not had much to say of any use anyway!! Yesterday I loaded OH van with boxes of paperwork from the lounge, bedroom and garage. Didn't manage to get them all as I had a large landslide of stuff in garage and got a bit stuck:rotfl::o
Took it to children's centre where they kindly allowed me to use their large room to sort it all out. DS put in nursery for the day and DD came with me. She made me a packed lunch bless her( only 7).

Managed to go through most of the boxes and filled 4 1/2 bin bags full of rubbish. Got to feeling very overwhelmed and had to load all unsorted stuff into car and left rest there until tuesday to pick up. Need to go through what I have sorted then and put them into categories, bank statements, pension, mortgage etc. Feel a bit better that I have done this task although it is still not completed. Did find a 50p tesco clubcard voucher 2 x £5 notes and a £10 M&S voucher!!! Not to mentioned my building society book which I lost last year!
My OH had a visit yesterday from some people from the site where I have my allotment. Only got it in March and apart from raised beds built by a chap on my site for a consideration(he did 2 vast ones instead of 4 more manageable ones that I asked for:mad:) and 3 tonnes of cow muck been delivered I have not been well enough to do anything. They wanted to know if I intended to keep it and suggested I went back on the waiting list for a smaller plot(not afull size one anyway). OH kindly told them I was ill and suffering from PND/depression. I was really embarrassed as I arrived at OH work whilst they were there. They told me that OH wants me to give it up as I would have a very large garden when we moved( I've been waiting for bungalow next to the family business for 17 yrs, packed house up 3 times and had on market and FIL won't go!) I am keeping my darn allotment, I have such great plans. They said that it is all overgrown(i'm not surprised).
I really need some fencing round the plot as my DS(age 2) likes to run off my plot, down the allotment site(on a hill) and out onto minor road which attaches to a main road.:eek:
I intend to clear it and plant green manure, I'll be on my own, but really need to do something as I waited 6 yrs for this plot.

House very grubby, washing up only done in order to use cups and plates etc. Lots of laundry to do, forecast keeps saying torrential rain, so don't do it and go oit and then it's relly warm and dry:mad:
Must try harder over BH weekend. Have insomnia worrying about all the stuff there is to do. Should really go back to bed now!! Will check in over weekend!

Lots of ((hugs)) for you Trolly you will get there just take it steady and don't push yourself :o

I managed to hoovered, wash and polish my car Wed then it rained :( just my luck :( it did look more like a car again rather than a travelling dustbin :rotfl:

I have not done much in the house this week as I have been sewing like mad :o my red rug is now covered in threads and looks a mess :o
My OH has been home this week and has done absolutely faff all  he has either been playing games on his laptop, drinking beer or sleeping  so Ive told him Im on strike as Im on holiday too :rotfl: but my holiday means I don't work in the evening I still have to go clean Mrs W and Mrs J houses :o

Oh well going to mum's this afternoon for the wkend so will be pampered there :rotfl:

Hope everyone has a good wkend and will catch you all soon (will sneak on mum's PC when I can :D)

Aw Trolley sorry you're feeling overwhelmed. Hang on to that allotment, when you're feeling better you'll be glad you did!

Hart well done with the car, doesn't it feel great when it's unmessied? I had to do mine as ferrying parents around a bit over the summer and it felt like a new car! I am in awe of anyone that can sew (or do anything crafty actually!) Been lurking on the shabby chic thread a bit and saw some of your fabulous projects. It's inspired me to paint the remaining cupboards under the sink and think about painting the orangey pine table legs (the pine table will serve as a kitchen unit for a while till I can afford a nice freestanding unit). Thing is, I'm scared that my shabby chic will be just shabby! :rotfl::o
