Hi everyone Im back from hols. Had some lovely weather even got a sun tan. Glad to be back home though as I missed my animals and comfy bed.
House is quiet tidy as we havent been home longer enough to trash it,lol. Going to try and save for a new floor in the kitchen and hall as a white floor is not working . Will be back to decorating come next week.
Hope everyone is well and hugs to all.

well not much done here this weekend apart from sorting more boxes of craft stuff to get rid off . Have flogged a huge expedit from son's bedroom and Grandsons baby swing went today too as at 5 months he's a little too hefty for it to swing lol. He came to visit yesterday and then came again today which slowed things a little.
Sons getting a job has helped a lot i'm up by 6 to get them up for work so after they've left i get stuck in on some of the jobs that have wanted doing for ages. They're out all morning too at the moment then when they get back at half 3 they go off to their rooms to check computer then have tea around 5 then they go back upstairs on x box or computer then they go to bed around 10.

I'm having a rest day today - the kitchen looks very nice and I'm really pleased with it. Still have lots to do sorting stuff out and that's without even thinking about the bomb site that is "upstairs"! But rest it is today... I have tweaked my back a bit, it's just muscle pain but all the same, no point in making it worse. Hope everyone has a lovely bank holiday in spite of the weather!

  • Well done Rummer. As JPS said, I can`t imagine my house being ALL tidy at once, even with the spare room used as a clutter-dumping area. Best I`ve achieved (lived here 30 years) is kitchen & LR once staying tidy for about a fortnight after me seriously threatening to leave home!

One thing I have to mention - the `cosmetic` effect.
My neighbour called round last night. I know she struggles with her lot, but she`s home all day, plus her elder daughter does help around the house. I just went into self-pity/apology mode as the LR looked a mess. I HAD spent ages doing upstairs carpets, plus one load of jumpers ready for holiday, chinese chicken thighs cooking in oven and I`d made a fire. I HADN`T decluttered the windowsill, and 3 jumpers were hanging from LR doorway drying....
My neighbour was quite genuinely shocked. `Doesn`t look a mess to ME!` She said what she`d noticed was a lovely cooking smell, then a lovely laundry smell (Lenor infusions I keep for best, bought a stash when it was on offer) and my lovely log fire that she can never take her eyes off!

Emm - what a nice thing for your neighbour to say

Snookey - welcome back and Hi

Disaster here - DH's car can't be fixed by him and cos its BHol we can't get anyone to get it to the garage so I'm without a car for the next week but I need it back on Tuesday as its back to school then and its 8 miles to school!!! Too far to walk and to dear for a Taxi and no bus there!!!

Went to the shops for a trip out, spent 2.40 on a winter hat reduced from 10 and got a few bits in £land [small picnic blankets for DH to use as traction if he gets stuck in the snow]

    See ya laters gators

Hi all. Sounds as if everyone is getting on top of things. Its a nice feeling when someone else notices too.

Iv just been cleaning the kitchen. Iv had to wash out the dishwasher and put it on a hot wash without anything in there. Hope it comes up gleaming as the dishes have been still dirty after coming out of there. Put white vinagar in.
    Did the dishes by hand.
Washing machine is on and another load waiting.

Helen hope the car is fixed soon..

Emm....lovely thing for your neighbour to say, so give yourself a pat on the back!

I have a very houseproud friend who says that she loves coming to my (never tidy and very cluttered) as it has a lovely 'feel' to it and she feels much better about everything after a visit here......confirms the old saying that beauty is in the eye of the beholder!

Well we've been so busy this last week that I think the kids will be glad of the peace and quiet when they are back at school/pre-school!
The house has not been cleaned in way too long and is looking pretty messy too :o
On the plus side, my recent decluttering means that there isn't as much mess as there would have been 6 months back as I've got rid of so much!!

Having a quick catch up on what's been going on but have missed a few pages so hope everyone is well.

Helen-hope the car get sorted soon

Emm-What a great neighbour. I am lucky that our neighbour has a pretty messy house too. She is a lot more into cooking and gardening, I think the house comes further down the list. So I don't generally feel too bad if they drop in. Saying that, I do always still feel the need to tidy and clean frantically if we actually invite them over :o

Hubby has spent the last couple of days doing more painting so most of upstairs looking lovely (if still a little whiffy!). This does mean that I have piles of washing and ironing once more as I've had to keep the kids out of the way of the wet paint.

One day our house will be completely decorated, clean and mess free - I just need to find a job that pays enough to cover childcare, a cleaner and a gardener while I'm at it :rotfl:

While I'm waiting for that day to come, I have scheduled Wednesday in for a top to toe clean of the house as we have family over for the weekend.
  • Hi everyone,
Thought I would join in with the chat after lurking on here for a while. I decided to do some serious decluttering this weekend and filled 9 bin bags of rubbish/junk and took them all to the tip!
I also have the equivalent of about 8 bin bags of baby/kids stuff sat ready to go to a nearly new sale next weekend, which will hopefully make some spending money for a little break we are going on soon.
I am going to catch up with the thread a bit now, but thought I would just say hello to everyone first :-)
