    Good morning everyone :D
I got back from mum's yesterday afternoon, I had such a lovely wkend and my mum's house is so tidy :rotfl:

The craft fair didn't go well due to the stupid organisers putting the crafters in a greenhouse  no room to display stuff, dirty and cramped, no-one was happy about it :( and there were some beautiful crafters stuff too :o

I have a sink full of washing up to do today, un-pack bags, do the washing and to top it all my mum has had a sort out and wants me to sell some stuff on ebay for her (at least she said I can keep the money :rotfl:)
I also have loads of veg to sort out and put away, runner beans need cutting up and putting in the freezer, I just love Norfolk, lots of cheap veg there :rotfl:

I love crafting so much my house gets so cluttered with fabric for sewing and wooden things to paint I never seem to make a difference when I do have a sort out :(
My DS is not in school till next wk (not sure if it's Mon or Tue :o) but Im back at work tonight so got to move myself today :(

Be good to yourselves and I will try to catch up later :D
Getting myself sorted 1 day/1thing at a time :) and Love sewing :)

  • I may have to step down as a messy for a couple of days. We blitzed our flat before my Mum arrived on Thursday evening (despite my left hand swelling up due to an insect bite and cellulitis :(), and because of how contientious my Mum is (she would wash all of our dinner plates while waiting for the kettle to boil for her coffee) the place is now even tidier than when she arrived.

Don't worry though - it probably won't take long for hubby and I to get it back to its usual state :rotfl:
In a better financial position than ever before (thank you MSE!). Moved back to Scotland and now trying to keep debt-free!

Hello Blue Elephant - thats a hard situation to be in!! Welcome and Hi

Hart - nice to see you back, shame about the craft fair - not nice to be in a dirty place when there are lovely things to display

I'm completely fed up. Garage man can't collect the car until tomorrow between 10 and 12 so yet again I'm stuck in the house without transport. Milton Keynes is a great place if you have a car!!!
Kids are driving me nutty as is DH and he's not even here lol

I'm going out into the back garden to dismantle DD's tent and cut the grass - may make me feel better

Hope you are all having a better day than me

  • Hi All,

Well the decorating went well in DS bedroom last week. Was all finished by Thursday, though had to miss a day Tues (spent ironing instead :() to let the gloss paint dry on the woodwork before painting walls.

Puppy had his last injections on Thursday so we will soon be able to take him into the nig wide world. Can't wait :) - we're taking him to the seaside at the weekend!!

I'm back at work this week leaving DH in charge at home :T god knows what mess I'll get home to

Hi all, welcome along Blue Elephant and Little Bit. Baby steps is the way to go and Blue Elephant I would just try and tidy up and deep clean one small area at a time, you never know if they see the difference your parents might be encouraged to help!

Helen - hope you get something sorted about the car. You inspired me to have a go at my bedroom and it does look better, I have some ebay stuff to get rid of but I need to get motivated to do it!

JPS - are you keeping the quarry tiles as they are? I have 60 year old quarry tiles in my kitchen and hall and we have them uncovered. I quite like them but I was watching a diy program recently where they had old quarry tiles and the presenter was talking about needing something to cover the "awful old floor"! I got some specialist stuff to deep clean them when we moved in but it was a lot of work and I am not sure it really made a difference.

Oh well, been a strange day today. Met up with some friends and listened to them talking about the foreign holidays they have just come back from. Of course I am not jealous, who wants to fly abroad somewhere hot and sunny anyway? Kids have been a bit calmer which was good but I think DS2 is ready for back to school. Cant believe how cold and dark it is already, I am not ready for winter yet!

Mum came to the rescue lol She came over and we went for a walk round a Garden Centre - got a couple of Xmas pressies and next years seeds [well in date] and bought myself a fleece Regatta jumper for £5, we then went to Tesco and bought a box of the 30 piece SFC and came back to mine. cooked and chomped. Kiddies didn't want to go for a boring walk but they were mostly good, and they enjoyed tea. I've just cut the grass and tipped up the paddling pool to drain ready to go away and I also dismantled DD's tent and packed it away.

I managed to get 2 brand new thick blankets from someone on Freecycle yesterday so I washed them and hung them on the line but they haven't dried and I can't tumble them so they will have to hang over a couple of doors to dry.

Dd is calling [she's in the bath] as she has headlice and I need to sort them out - no idea where they came from, oh yes, I know, DS!!! tried everything but the ruggers won't shift so its daily combibng through with conditioner until they go back to school!! Even the chemical stuff doesn't kill them Grrrrrr

PS who's itching their head now lol

Helen I hate those bloody things. My head is itchy just thinking about them. I bought an electric combe which seems to help. Im glad your mum came to the rescue.
Yorkshire Lass think about all that waiting in airports, dragging suitcases and the expense. With children in tow you need a holiday when you get back.
Im looking forward to the Autum its the best time of the year. The park oppisite our house takes on a golden glow and the leaves go all crunchy underfoot. I can cover up in baggy jumpers and coats and hide all my wobbly bits.
Our new hamster, Daisy, is doing the treadmill and now she has hopped off trying to chew through the bars. Ill get her out for a cuddle it may stop her trying to escape.
  • My daughter had head lice last year in her waist length hair. The idea that they don't get them once they go to secondary school is sadly not true in our case. My daughter has had them twice, I think it is down to friends with younger brothers and sisters and close contact in the rehearsals for Drama and the shows she is in. She is 16. Hopefully next year will be better because she is transferring to a sixth form in a boys school.

I found the nitty gritty comb was very good along with Tesco's value conditioner. The combs are about £10 but it was definitely worth the money because it gets the smaller lice out as well as the big ones. That is offset by the conditioner only being about 24p for a good sized bottle.

I am using the conditioner on my own hair through choice now. I used up the last bit that was left over and found it really suits my hair and worked better than other more expensive brands. Luckily I don't have the head lioce though!

On the subject of messy homes, I have been making DD a suit to wear for sixth form and the house is slowly turning into a tip while I have been otherwise occupied. Today, I think had better be tidy up time.
