  • Belated Birthday greeting Rummer!
Laurel, you sound like me, doing `bits`, and not quite finishing stuff!
Actually you Messies are ALL wonderful, a complete inspiration! I`ve been reading here for ages, but haven`t posted for a year or so, time to read is one thing, (usually 15 minutes or so with my first coffee before going to work) but time to post is another!
MY Messy situation is like one of those little puzzle toys, the ones with the little square tiles that you have to shuffle around. That`s why Laurel`s post (on 25/7 can`t do the link thing, sorry)rang bells with me. I need more tea-breaks too! I work full-time, and just have to prioritise about what I do on days off.
Sometimes get really downhearted when I feel stuff isn`t getting done, but then when I do have a blitz I feel better for it. Never actually feel it`s a COMPLETE blitz though...

    Yes, happy birthday, Rummer :)

    Not finishing things, huh?

Oh dear, it's the bane of my life. Usually because it just seems more efficient to do something else first. :o

I've been pulling off tiles in the bathroom this morning. It's a job I tried to do too quickly, when I was too tired, and it was a compromise anyway. I had two bathroom suites ripped out and replaced last summer, but I had no money or energy left over for tiling. I thought the old tiles might "do", but they don't. And I messed up the patchwork job where the new bath doesn't quite meet the wall.

Anyway, I'm now stripped back to where I made the mistake, and a job not done is better than a job done badly (or at least THAT badly, lol), so I'm much happier.

The thing is...I've now realised that while the original plan of campaign was to tile the kitchen (no pipes to cut around therefore easier) and then take my newly acquired skills to the bathrooms, I've actually bought quite tricky tiles, and there are SO many sockets and things it's going to be a novice tiler's nightmare.

Suddenly, the bathroom looks like the easier job. And I can't even think about tiling the kitchen yet anyway (the boiler won't be fitted until the end of next month at the earliest).

So...abandon the kitchen and start on the bathroom??? It makes perfect sense, but we'll be away for sixteen days next month, and I can't help thinking that way madness, or at least unfinishedness, lies!!! :o

Well done on the passport Gilley, just wish I could join you in Mexico!!

Happy Birthday Rummer - have a great day.

I have managed a bit of a food shop this morning with kids in tow. I normally dread shopping with them both but they were pretty good. Should keep us going for a few days. I need to mealplan with what's in the freezer but keep finding more interesting things to do!!

    To-do today -

    -Sign up for OU course
    -Mealplan for 1 week
-Text friend about her DD's bday party need to check timings
-locate DS's bedtime teddy - in the house somewhere, had it this morning, want it in the wash today as it's so warm here it will dry by bedtime
-Pack up ebay parcels - one needs a courier arranged
-plan our weekend meant to be seeing family but need to arrange this
-spend some time playing with kids as I ignored them yesterday to get the house cleaned

I may also try to get a couple more bits on ebay as it feels so good seeing this leave the house, and not come back!!

Off to get lunch ready now then will crack on

    Afternoon Messies

I have taken my cleaning to the next level and have hired a rug doctor for the next 48 hours :D. The living room has now been shampooed and the difference in the carpet is amazing, the colour of the water I have poured round the sink has been . Going to do the down stairs today and the upstairs (when I have finished tidying :o) tomorrow.

Managed to finally get on top of the laundry :j which has been a great achievement! Bit worried though as the dishwasher seems to be refusing to clean dishes. Even tried the longest setting and expensive tablets (I know not very MSE) but it still seems to be leaving them dirty? If anyone has any helpful suggestions I would love to hear them.

If it's the same wash that you keep putting in and keeps coming out dirty, have you checked that the arms are free to rotate? Check the bottom arm, too-sometimes a spoon drops down and jams it.

    Have you cleaned the filter?

Put your hand in where the filter came out and had a fish around (at your own risk, lol)?

Cleaned the dishwasher, either with a dishwasher cleaner or a hot wash and vinegar?

Is the water running freely when you empty your sink?

Is the water getting hot? Does the stuff steam when you open the door? Is there salt in the dishwasher?
