My home is a mess

Have been busy for last few days havent even got onto here. I have managed to declutter the garden - well the inlaws did most of it! Now have bags and tubs full of garden waste sitting on the drive ready to take to the tip. Will need to be done one evening in the week as I have the kiddies in the day.
Plan for today is to clean the house from top to bottom as hasn't really been done properly for 2 weeks - this used to be good, but this thread has got me so into clearing the house that I feel like it's grim!
Also awaiting courier to collect 2 more items sold on ebay. Have few items still listed including some speakers DH wanted to throw out - currently at over £20 with days to go :j
Need to trawl through freezer to find something for dinner. Would also like to ebay a few more items but this probably wont be today. I must stay away from computer until house is clean otherwise I will get distracted
I did also manage to clear out and clean one very dirty kitchen cupboard yesterday which now makes me want to clean them all but I will only 'allow' myself to do this once house is clean.0 -
Oh Gilly - how irritating though! I know if it were me, I would have just paid for the fast track one, and my old one would turn up!
I was actually more productive than I thought I would be last night. Bunged some dinner in the pot and did a load of dishes while waiting for hubby to get home. Then he (unprompted!!!!) finished the dishes and gave the kitchen a wipe over and a sweep while I put on some laundry and finished dinner. Still got to change the bed linen (which I'll probably leave to the weekend now) and give the place a sweep, but not bad all in, some semblance of order restored to our home
(it won't last :rotfl:)In a better financial position than ever before (thank you MSE!). Moved back to Scotland and now trying to keep debt-free!0 -
aaarggh - I have found the ultimate incentive to tidy - my passport is missing and I go on holiday in 31 days
The study where it is normally kept has been decluttered to within an inch of its life
Old papers shredded
Banking stuff filed and so on
The living room has had everthing moved, hoovered underneath and then dusted - just in case
The kitchen is tidied - the junk drawer - we all have one - don't we?? has been emptied and decluttered
I have checked handbags, sports bags, even underwear drawers
Booger - looks like I will have to pay for a fast track one - £112.50 - at least it was quite old so not a total disaster
Have you tried removing drawers and checking it hasn't fallen down the back of them. That is where I have found things that have gone missing in the past?0 -
Hope you find your passport! I lost mine a few years back, never found it then discovered my housemate was quite a theif so ideas where it went!
Well went to my friends yesterday and my god, we couldn't even open the playroom door! 8 hours later and we were still nowhere near done so am back over there today!
However, own house...... Nuff said!0 -
Afternoon Messies
I have only recently surfaced after my birthday celebrations  so I have quite a bit of tidying to do. The hall, living room, bathroom and kitchen I am just about managing to keep on top of and I have made good inroads into the dining room and bedrooms.
However it just seems as if as soon as I get one area cleaned the family have messed up another . I have been trying to get them involved in the whole house management thing and with my DD it is working ish as I am getting her to do 15 mins a day tidying her room which has made it look much better as she is playing outside so she is not in to mess it again
The OH however is another matter he has a fabulous habit of leaving whatever he is doing behind him when he moves on to the next activity so I have set aside a box that I just put all his stuff in :rotfl:so he can put it away later
Anyway I should get going chat later.......Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
:)Afternoon messies. I had planned a trip out today but as my DH managed to fall off a stool whilst painting yesterday and now can't drive, I have ended up decluttering instead. My DD has turned out her room with a bit of encouragement and help and we now have five sacks stowed behind the sofa to go to charity. Just got to get my son to do the same now...... I fear it will take a lot more pushing to get him to do anything. He is hopefully off to university in October and I am determined he is not leaving his mess behind him.
The only trouble with all this decluttering upstairs is it seems to spread downstairs. I have three bags set aside for the after school club I work in and there is no more space behind the sofa for any more charity stuff. I have also let some of my own jobs slip whilst I have been decluttering with DH so the house doesn't really look any tidier. Still if I had gone out nothing would have got done anyway.
Oh well there is always tomorrow.:)0 -

Hi Ladies,
Can I join you?
My house is a constant mess! H2B has mental illness so sometimes he is great at looking after the house when I am at work, other times horrific - and those are the times that dealing with him and work is tiring enough before I even start on the housework. I have cleaned my worktops, microwave and organised most of my kitchen cupboards between today and yesterday. Just need to sort out fridge/freezer and under the sink cupboard with all my cleaning nonsense.
I have moved my cats litter tray to the downstairs loo to free up some roomb in our back passage and sending OH to put all his weights etc into the shed so I have some room.
Got into the cupboard under the stairs which I have never entered! And found a bag of potatoes I got OH to put in their months ago, it looks like something out of a horror movie - although the sprouty bits have already got little potato buds on them (if that makes sense) I was planning on starting growing mine - would I be able to just dump a couple of them in a grow bag or something??
Not too the end of the thread yet (trying to read from the beginning) but just wanted to jump in.0 -

Got a bag of things need to check, file etc. But I did throw out/shread a bin bag full so it is making a difference though dosn't look much tider. Alas most progress is slow! Got about 8 more things to ebay maybe on the weekend.0

Hey Messies,
Been having problems with my laptop, so haven't been on the boards as much. I keep getting a flickering screen which give me headache! On the cleaning front, I'm not doing too badly today. Washing went in the machine, then I went to gym. Hung it out when I got back and I've also tried to sort out endless bits of paperwork...yes, Gingerbiscuit it seems too multiply quite quickly!!
Catch you all later x0
