Haven't done much on the cleaning front this weekend as have had a houseful of visitors. They have no all left so cleaning will need to be tackled in the next day or two.
Have managed lots of gardening - DH took carload to tip and 2 green wheelie bin fulls are awaiting collection tomorrow morning.
Have also wrapped up 15 ebay parcels to be taken to post office tomorrow. No massive money makers but every little helps, and just glad to be rid really. I have this evening relisted some non sellers which had some watchers so fingers crossed. Have also listed 9 more items which is everything that I have photographed so will need a photographing session this week.
Have tidied playroom and run hoover round all downstairs as may be having friends over for playdate tomorrow.
CROCKPOT - Start with little bits. Try 5 mins just go in, remove 5 things and decide whether to get rid of them or not. If you want to keep them, find them a home. If not, list them straight on ebay, put straight in charity box or bin!0 -
My house is a tip at the moment, due to not doing much recently while helping my dad move and get settled in his sheltered housing flat, but I'm off work for a week so I am determined to get loads done! I will make a list in the morning, so I can check the jobs off as I do them, but some things I can think of now are:-
Zap the huge spider hanging from the lounge ceiling along with the web it has made, get rid of the cobwebs above the stairs which have been there for weeks, (I can't actually reach them, so will have to get my extending window cleaner pole out of the shed, and wrap a duster round it to wipe them with), clear the ironing mountain, clean the windows and wash the curtains (this of course is dependent on the weather), and clear all the washing in the laundry basket.Weight loss challenge 2/10lbs

All is well hamster found. Daughter found it scurrying across her bedroom floor away frm the cat. He is now doing a marathon on his wheel, lol.
Did hardly anything today as having a cba day. Oh said he feels better so made him change our bedding and he tidied dd room.
Iv got to get stuck in Monday . Need to get the spare room cleared as my sindy collection is going in there.
Has anyone burnt cardboard boxes before. Odd question I know but we have tons of half mouldy ones in the cellar and Im debating about burning them or seeing if the bin men will take them.
Helen ironing is a dirty word in our house, lol.0 -
Morning all! Carp weather here, no washing on the line for me today!
Didn't get much done yesterday, finished off the ironing, mum came round for the day, she was quite upset as someone who had previously viewed her flat decided he wanted to view it again, so managed to get in through the entry door system and hammered on her front door just after 10 yesterday morning - charming! To say she was scared is an understatement - she refused him understandably, then had the head office of the estate agent on the phone asking if she would do a viewing? She never does them without an estate agent there anyway, and certainly not to someone who just turns up!
I wouldn't like to be in the estate agent's shoes today - she reckons she's going round there to see them! :rotfl:
Oh well, just work and a blood test for me today - one of the lovely 'fasting' ones, will go into work first and find out where to go - the clinics round here are always queing out the doot at 9am so it's best to let the rush die down a bit I think.
Happy decluttering and cleaning everyone - at least we got the living room, bathroom and kitchen sorted out yesterday before mum came round!:j Almost 2 stones gone! :j
:heart2: RIP Clio 1.9.93 - 7.4.10 :heart2:I WILL be tidy, I WILL be tidy!

Morning Folks.
I'm quite impressed that I've managed to keep on top of things this weekend. Saturday morning I sorted the huge pile of filing, recyled a pile of old magazines, cleared the clutter from a couple of draws then tackled the cleaning. My dad took me out to go clothes shopping for my birthday and then we had a nice lunch. Its not often we spend time alone and it was a lovely father daughter bonding session.
Yesterday was a wash out so we had a movie day. I even managed to keep the kitchen tidy while cooking our roast dinner so could relax for the rest of the evening. The kitchen is the one room I really hate seeing messy. DH can quite happily cook in it with clutter all over the counters but it drives me mad! I have to have the kitchen spotless before I can even consider cooking.
Well another wash out day today. Have to tackle the pile of ironing tonight its growing at an amazing rate!0 -
Morning Messies!
Well I had a long lie today reading my book which was lovely
Now however I am going to get myself dressed(well I am on holiday) and get stuck into the kitchen. Going to break up the day by doing a bit round the garden if the weather holds, although it is looking unlikely that it will stay dry
.
My DD is at home today and I am just about to break it to her that we are going to do some tidying today and it is not going to go down well. However it is a necessary evil so she does not grow up to be as messy as me :rotfl::rotfl:Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -

Haven't done much yet today. Been looking at finances - need to be extra frugal for rest of the month as OD is looking a bit  May have to start a spending challenge for rest of the month, see if I can tighten our belts to make up the shortfall.
Have had a quick tidy round. Washing is out and machine back on for second load. Looks like it may rain now so my good work may be undone. Have also tidied away clean clothes.
May squeeze in a half hour of ironing now before I have to collect DD. Have a friend coming over for lunch with her two littles later on.
Then will be making a trip to M&S as ordered DD uniform as they had 20%off last week (+ cashback of course!). Not sure any of this is helping to make the house any tidier or less cluttered!!
Saying that, I would never have had anyone over a couple of months ago, well not without a 2 day panic and tidy before hand so I guess things are improving, just slow progress.0 -
I wish my parents would read this thread and get on board with sorting it out.
They have lived in their house for almost 40 years and over the years have collected and hoarded all sorts of stuff they pick up from car boots, table top sales, auctions etc etc.....
Their house could be lovely, the other houses on their street are identical build and I've been in several when I lived at home and they have the potential to be a lovely, welcoming home.
My parents are retired and fit and healthy with a lot of time on their hands, so don't have the restraints that a lot of others have.
This may sound terrible but their house is just terrible, dirty and you can barely move. We tried to have a family get together at their house yesterday with my husband and baby and my sisters family and it was just awful trying to squeeze around each other and you didn't have to look hard to see proper dirt and grit.
My house is by no means immaculate, but with having my son and his health problems it is at least clean and relatively tidy, but in comparison to theirs it is gleaming.
They aren't blind or stupid, they are just lazy I guess and choose to ignore what is around them. Apparantly my dear dad is starting to 'rationalise' some of his bits and pieces but they need a full on, industrial clear out.
I worry about when they get really old and less mobile (they are only in their mid 60's), that the grandchildren can't stay over night (or actually play there, just watch DVDs), what will happen when my son gets bigger (he is only 9 months old now, but has disabilities and poor development so will in time be a very big baby)....
I went to the bathroom to help my niece (who is 5) reach the soap to wash her hands and the bathroom was absolutely filthy. I'm honestly not being picky or snobbish, my little niece didn't care but I cringed at the thought of this little person washing her hands in that sink.
My sister and I have wimped out over the years and not addressed this with our parents. The only way getting together at their house worked was because we went out to lunch and my brother-in-law took my niece to the park so she could let off some energy after being cramped in their house.
It is such a shame because my parents are so loving and kind. Also, my sister and I live 2.5 hours apart but my parents are in the middle, so would be ideal for us all to get together at theirs. But each room in their house is stuffed to the max and dirty.
Not sure why I'm writing this here, but I guess after reading this thread I just feel frustrated that they aren't taking action like you guys are....
Thanks for listening. x0
