    Hello All

Well confession time, I have been so busy at work this week that apart from the normal cooking and washing up when I get in I haven't really done much...:o

To be fair my asthma and COPD have been playing up with the really hot weather and as STBEOH has been off I thought he might actually do something.. but NO

I came in on Monday to find him lounging in the garden and his breakfast things still in the sink!!:mad:

Just in from work and going out to see a friend who I havent seen for about 3-4 years for a girlie catch up.:j

I promise to try harder tomorrow night

    Hope all are keeping well

Okay - I shouldn't be surprised, but my doctor's appointment overran (I didn't get seen until half an hour after my scheduled appointment), and by the time I had swung by the post office, I didn't get home any earlier than usual. All I wanted to do ws flop down on the sofa in this heat.

Thankfully, my friend text asking if she could come round to borrow the bath (she's in a bedsitter and only has a poky shower), so that spurred me on to at least give the bathroom a wipe over, and while I was upright, I stacked the dishes (ready for hubby to tackle! :rotfl:), dusted the telly unit in the living room, and put on a load of laundry. So, considering my delays, I think I did okay ;)

@hart44 - oh the perils of a busy life ;)

@MummyEm - I hear you on the decluttering. The only way I managed to get rid of mine was to resign myself to my fate and bin about 10 bags of stuff (and begging my in-laws to run 10 bags and 5 boxes to the charity shop), and the only reason I did it so quickly is we only had 2 weeks to pack and move!:o

@newroadahead - I hate to play to gender stereotypes, but I just don't think men see the mess the same way as us!

@lovelyx - I'm very fond of the closed door method of tidying up :rotfl:
In a better financial position than ever before (thank you MSE!). Moved back to Scotland and now trying to keep debt-free!
  • I have been following this thread and the decluttering one and you lot have inspired me to keep at the clearing out.

One thing I managed to declutter back to my daughters secondary school was the Drama shield she won last summer. Much as I was proud of her for seeing off all the year 11's and sixth formers to win it in year 10, it did take up quite a bit of space. We have been away for the last two days collecting all my eldest son's clutter from university (more mess) and came home to two letters from the school. The first letter was to say DD has won the maths prize but the second letter was to say DD has only gone and won the drama shield again and it is coming back again in July!

    Kids who'd have 'em.:rotfl:

Rosalie at least the shield and maths prize are worth while clutter. Sounds like you have really bright children. Well done.

    Thanks snookey

I suspect one of the reasons my DD has won the drama prize again is that whenever she is involved in a show she gives it 100%. The only time she would miss a rehearsal is if she was ill. The shield is lovely but the only trouble is you only have to touch it and it falls over. I do have mixed feelings about it because I think perhaps someone else should have won it rather than DD two years running. They must think she deserves it though because we have checked and it isn't a mistake.

well sorry i've been missing but my baby (he's 19) had an heart op on fri so been running around a lot then on sunday my lappy picked up a bug and after 2 days trying to sort it had to restore it to factory settings . Still i've decluttered my hard drive. lol

Well after several cba days my dil announced on monday she fancies doing a car boot on sun and they haven't got a lot to take so have i got anything she can take . I don't need asking twice.

Dragged my oh upstairs at 10 o' clock this morning think he thought his luck was in till i emptied 6 ikea units worth of dvd's on the bed and told him to start getting rid. Then i made him completely empty the built in wardrobe. Found a desk in there still bnib. Found 5 new handbags , several books , 3 or 4 watches , king size quilt covers, curtains , plus Lots of stuff i had given when we used to fundraise for a couple of charities. Landing has about 8 boxes full on it already and i still need to sort the overbed unit yet. That will be tomorrows job along with the living room. Anyone know how or why i have about 30 bottles each of shampoo and shower gel. School fair next week so that will get rid of some. I also decluttered about 20 candles don't know why i have them.

Rosalie congrats to your daughter you have a talented young lady there .

  • Craft Granny I hope your baby is alright now or as well as he should be after a heart op. For all the mess they make I wouldn't want to be without my three. It has amused me a bit that after months of asking my youngest son to clear up his room as soon as his brother is coming home he tidies it.:D

My eldest son had so much stuff in his university house we had to hire a van to go and get it. We have to do it all in reverse in September and take it all back again to the new house. The house now looks like a bomb site and I am in and out working today so not much chance of it improving. I definitely need to join you all on this thread now.

    Morning all fellow Messies!

Bit of a later start for me today - leaving at 10 to go to a funeral :( . It's an old family friend, I've known her for 50 years! Taking my mum otherwise she would never find her way there, and she's a bit stressed at the moment, what with moving house (she's 80!) and some news about a family member's marriage coming to an end - not a surprise to us but still a shock when it happens.

She's coming to collect me at 10 so I have a bit of tidying time before the shower - wonder what I can get done? :)

At least the weather is good so far here, so hope everyone has a good day - and hope your son is well on the mend, craftygranny!

I'm a newbie but have been following the thread for a while and whilst I am an avid fan of de-cluttering and generally keeping on top of things my DH is not. He is a complete horder which normally results in me pulling my hair out or sneekily removing things when he's not looking. But every now & then he proves a a point as to why he never throws things away!

Yesterday we discovered a leaking shower and after investigations it was nothing more serious than beeing in need of re-grouting/sealing. However in the process a few tiles got broken while removing the shower tray. Now the bathroom was probably fitted in the late 70's with brown tiles & a brown suite (I had already been shopping in my mind for new bathroom incl tiles etc) so no chance of getting replacement tiles. Or so I thought!

" I think we've got some of these tiles in the shed!"

Don't you just hate it when that happens!!
