:D Good morning messies, am back after a couple of weeks MIA and have decided not to even try to catch up, it's just impossible.

I borrowed a book on decluttering from the library a few days ago and left it among the clutter but it didn't do a thing. What's that you say? Oh, I have to READ and ACT ON THE ADVICE?

:( Pants. There was I thinking there was an easy way out.

I've decided to make a clean sweep in the kitchen and tackle the point where the counter joins the sink at right-angles. This is where stuff accumulates; jam jars, plastic bottles and general carp. It looks dreadful and wastes the limited space and makes cleaning problematic. So, clean sweep, stuff to recycling bin and no
    repeat-offending I hope.

Interesting to read about the problem of messy kids. Don't have any myself but have a long history being raised by a messy Mum who's lovely but borderline pathological on the hoarding. When I was clearing up as a nipper, she'd frisk the rubbish before I was allowed to take it to the dustbin.

Anyway, a few years ago, I decided to give her a present of something she'd wanted to do for a long time but hadn't got around to, largely because she was so busy helping other family members inc me; repaint her bedroom.

It isn't a large room by any means but it was so cluttered that even getting at the walls was a major logistical operation. I snuck in to do it when she was away for a week on holiday.

I knew from past tussels that I mustn't get rid of a thing but that there would be a load of stuff on the shelves and furniture that I'd have to move (didn't go into any drawers or cupboards).

What I did was put everything back where I found it (minus dust) and put in the bin only that which was inarguably rubbish like boxes from old tights. Stuff which I considered trash, I put in a large flat box which we went thru together in about 15 minutes after she'd come back and cried with joy at having the painting done.

Of that stuff, some things were keepers, some could be charity-shopped and some were for the recycling. The important thing was that it was her choice not mine.

;) She was so thrilled she's dropped hints about me doing the living room next but I haven't got enough annual leave.....

    Morning messies

Have been around but been lurking a bit.... the old dragons have been lurking so I had to work hard to get into a stronger emotional state.

Haven't really made any progress, there again things haven't got any worse which is a good thing I guess.

Soupdragon10 - loved reading about the eggs - any chicks yet?

Washing machine loaded for the second time, one load flapping around in the sun, washing up done.... time to settle down and start working.

    Have a good day :)

hart 44 Thank you so much but I'm coping so far. I will battle for common sense to win out and I'm determined not to sit in mess uneccessarily. I'm not going back to the past. Every day I've been on top of things has meant a lot to me.
    It's great to be ALIVE!

There are a lot of busy bees in this forum! I have done fairly well myself - chucked more rubbish in skip (why, of why do I feel the need to hoard?). Washed breakfast dishes, no dishwasher but I actually enjoy getting my hands in there. Strange woman! Cleaned cat dishes, fed cats. OH made bed - he's a gem, deserves better than me! Put out charity bag donations, and got another leaflet in saying they will take BROKEN electrical items. Brilliant as I can't put that in skip, and council charges to collect, so I have now got a box of more bric a brac for this charity as well, as they will have saved me money. I keep telling myself - YOU DON'T NEED IT! I have to type in capitals for the important things lol.

I slept badly last night again - must be the worry of the leak etc. Am feeling like a half shut knife, but no excuses, after this break I will be back to clearing out again.

I am telling myself to get on and get everything sorted out so that I can use the time doing things I'd really like, such as sewing, knitting, genealogy and playing with the cats!

Chin up everyone! You are all an inspiration to me.

Afternoon everyone, OK I am going to make a confession here. I have finally (after doing lots of talking about it) moved the fridge freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer. One of the reasons I hate doing this is because we get loads of spiders in our utility room and I hate cobwebs. How pathetic is that.

I found a sock, a glove, some golf tees, some clothes pegs, a pencil and lots and lots of dust as well as 2 spiders and the dreaded cobwebs. Oh and a receipt from erm... 29th September 2010

I do clean the utility room - and sweep and mop as far under the appliances as I can get but its really hard to move them - and I did struggle a bit to get the fridge freezer back. I have cleaned the window, and even cleaned the spotlights. Feeling really pleased with myself now, if a bit grubby!!

Right, lots more to do and need to get my son off to swimming so best get on with it!

Hope everyone has had a good Friday.
