Morning all - evening in for me tonight, the house is looking a bit untidy (but not as bad as before!) so a bit of a blitz tonight methinks. Didn't get anything done apart from dinner last night as I went to get my hair cut!
Off to work soon, hope everyone has a productive day!:j Almost 2 stones gone! :j

Hi All
I have been following the thread for a couple of weeks so I thought I'd say hello to everyone.
This thread has really helped me. I started with a very messy, cluttered, dirty house. I am slowly getting on top of it.
I am a SAHM with DD who will be 4 in a couple of weeks, and DS just turned 2, and DH who sees all housework related things as my 'Job' as he does the 'proper' work! He's also prone to coming home emptying his pockets, dropping clothes around the house etc -drives me mad! !! Don't get me wrong he does also do a lot, but between him and the kids, I am constantly picking things up!
He would love a clean tidy house - grew up in one, MIL is on proper 'clean freak' level, but he doesn't seem to understand that it is just so much easier to tidy as you go along. I spend half my cleaning time just putting things away first.
I have decided to allocate one day a week to the main cleaning. This week it was Monday, last week it was Tuesday, just depends on what
other plans I have. Then I can concentrate on little areas to declutter / ebaying on other days.
I have a lot of ebaying to do. We have an old conservatory basically full of clutter to ebay. I've got to a point where I no longer pull bits out from other rooms even though I want to ebay them as the conservatory is just such a mess.
We have been decorating and refurbing our house since we moved in 18 months ago. It's now half done, way over budget with more to do. Plan now is to clear the OD and save for the rest - ebaying is helping with this.
Anyway, that's my rambling done.0 -
Plan for today-
-DD at preschool
-Get DH's car from garage - had service and work done so that's going to add to the OD
-Food shopping - Mr T & L***
-Ebay 10 items
-wash kids bedding
I think there's some more to do too but can't remember atm. Not sure how productive today will be as been up with the kids since 5.30am and DS is a poorly sniffly grumps! Off to make breakfast and sarnies, then get everyone showered and dressed.0 -
Good morning
I have been up since 5.30flippin headache
it has gone now but Im getting realy fed up with them, I have been to doc's about it and he just says it is tense neck muscles
Enough of my prob :rotfl: Im off to work today, my nice house clean job
My DS has an inset day today so he is happy, no sports, he hate PE and would rather just kick a football about
I will get DD to clean up a bit for me as she doesn't have another exam till Monday so no having to go into school for her now
Then I will be back to my evening job so will be knackered tonight
Hope everyone has a good dayGetting myself sorted 1 day/1thing at a timeand Love sewing

Ii've just been told my cancer has spread to more places. Fatgue is affecting my ability to keep up with housework. When I was in my late teens I went through a bout of depression and associate a messy house with misery and not coping. For years now I've been great and on top of everything. So I suggested getting a cleaner to my OH. He won.t hear of it but although he does some housework, he doesn't do enough and lies to himself saying he'll do it. I don't think he realises how much I've been doing, despite feeling unwell. (The windows havn't been cleaned outside for 3 years now since he got rid of the window cleaner to do them himself)
I know people might say "forget about it" but it really depresses me.I never go into the garden now because of the state of it and the house is on it's way to being as bad. Actually that's a bit of an exaggeration but I want to get it sorted while it's presentable to a cleaner and just needs a once around. How can I convince him to get a cleaner once a week to do the basics? It's great to be ALIVE!0 -
Good Morning Fellow Messies!!
Hugs to anyone who needs one today and a kick up the bum for anyone who needs one I certainly do!!!
Maryotaum (((big big hugs))) I know what you mean about mess and depression. Are you getting help from Macmillan or speak to your hospitals cancer information service and see if they can offer advice. If you can't talk to OH write him a letter, tell him you appreciate everything he does but you want to spend quality time with him too whilst you are feeling well enough. Hope this helps. DS woke screaming, OH put him into our bed with me and never took him out, been kicked, dribbled and rolled on!! He#s in nursery this aft. Washed up this am so far and CBA forecast heavy rain here. Will check in later messies!0 -
Hart - have you had an eye test recently
Maryotaum - huge hugs honey
We've just had a big shock - Working Tax Credits have been stopped cos DH did some overtime last financial year [not much at all] and cos it took us over the limit for him we have been stopped £90 a WEEK - no idea where we can cut back to make it up and I can't get a job to fit around kids and earn enough to make up for the loss!!!! No letter to tell us just stopped the payment - we only found out cos I checked the account and we were overdrawn on the overdraft!! Mercy dash to bank to transfer some money from the savings acc into the main acc, the savings acc has been seriously depleted recently cos of various probs so now we don't even have that to fall back on - !!!!!! times ahead for us
The house is disgusting so as soon as DH goes intop work I shall be zooming around cos I need to keep my mind occupied with other stuff and not sitting worrying about how we will be able to eat!!!

Extrolly Thanks
I have good links with paliative care services as my cancer is a rare slow growing one and I've had a 9 year buld up to this milestone. I know my solution to the housework problem is a good one as OH has a dicky heart. But I like your suggestion of pointing out the advantages to him personally. His tolerance for mess is higher than mine so I will have to explain to him how much easier I will be to live with if the mess is not piling up. I might threaten to take to my bed, in fact I probably will do that because I have loved having a reasonably tidy and clean house. I feel it reflects the state of my mind. And putting money in someone else's pocket is not a bad thing either! It's great to be ALIVE!0 -

DO you think your sister would hire herself out for a few hours.
No sorry, if my sister ever feels the urge to declutter someone else's house she is coming round to mine first!!! I have really taken her advice on board though, more stuff means more stress because everything is messy and you cant find anything. It also means its harder to clean because you have to tidy first which takes twice as long.
Fingers crossed for the weather to be better for a car boot this weekend. At the moment you have to inch your way along my landing crab like because there is so much stuff waiting to be sold. I just hope the kids will let me take it to the charity shop/skip if it doesnt sell.
Maryotaum, I guess your problems kind of put it into perspective for the rest of us. Hope things are OK with you today. And Helen Jelly - I am getting stressed about the cost of food shopping at the moment, we are also on a very tight budget so I can sympathise.
Might hang the washing out - even if its a bit rainy - I hate having it hung around the house. Need to put the ironing away, really should mop the kitchen floor and the living room needs hoovering. I came in here to do some filing which is still looking at me so should really tackle that too. Best get on with it!0
