    Hello fellow messies:beer:

Oh my! All this 'appliance relocation' is really making me feel bad! I had no idea you're supposed to clean bits people won't see!!!

Feeling really carp today as neighbours dog woke me up at 5am with his howling (dog not neighbour obv!). Went round and banged on door and rang doorbell then yelled loudly at sleepy face that appeared at upstairs window - well she did say tell me when the dog disturbs me!
It's not the first time either (usually kicks off around 6am with 5 mins worth of howling every 20 mins or so). yes I have told the council and she's working together with the dog warden and the dog trainer to sort it out...

    anywho
HWTHMBO has said that I can't get a patio table a chairs set on offer in Homebase unless I empty the conservatory of junk. :( have managed to get rid of a few bits and pieces here and there but failing to get anything listed anywhere. is eBay a good place to list stuff? I guess I should have a look on the ebay thread.

Luckily Bookbridge is coming up very soon so will be able to ship out all the books languishing in there *cough*4 boxes*cough* which will make a dent it the junk.

and musicmagpie will take the majority of the DVD & CDs.

Was going to list baby/kids things on netmums but not sure about it. anyone got any feedback to give?

I'll be heading out to Beavers in a bit.

Thanks for your inspirational stories and all the tips.:T

    Hi

I decided to haul the DW out of the kitchen and put it outside, to do this I had to pull the WM out as the waste pipe for the DW is behind the WM, did that and cleaned the floor under the WM [fingers crossed that still works!!] then I had to empty a cupboard out to get to the DW plug and the cold water pipe, got plug out ok so now you have to picture my kitchen = DW and WM in the middle of a small place, contents of a cupboard strewn around, all the carrier bags I store between the WM and the cupboard are on the floor too, so, I turn off the water pipe and manage with great difficulty to start to undo the hose clamp [picture the top half me inside a cupboard to do this] water starts gushing out, swear words start being issued, water spraying in my face and behind the cupboard whilst I struggle to do up the pipe thingy, manage to get it done up and decide that maybe I have to turn the pipe of where the WM inlet hose is, crawl into another tight space and do this, return to DW pipe, undo that and get soaked again, return to WM pipe and turn that back on as thats having no effect on the other pipe. Thoroughly fed up by now and not understanding why the pipe won't turn off I get back down and into the cupboard and play around with the pipe turner offy thingy to discover its broke, get keys for shed and go out there and get a wrench, get back under cupboard and manage to turn pipe off by turning a little nut thing a millimeter at a time, now I am able to get DW outside and start the massive mopping up operation!!! And the moral of the story is. . . . . . . . don't clean under appliances.

And thats me k-nackered for the day as it took a couple of hours to do all of that and I used 7 tea towels to keep mopping up the water that was spraying everywhere so more washing to be done now

I'm off for a coffee, despite the hassle at least I can say that I done it!!

    Helen x

PS If I was alot younger I could off entered into a wet t'shirt competition and won!!!

Oh Helen what a day you have had - you deserve that coffee or something stronger

    Ta for the messages lovelys

As you can see by my Avatar I've had to keep my DS happy - he designed it on some game and wanted me to show it to the world, after the day I've had I'm just going with the flow now

Fannyadams - under no circumstances should you clean under appliances - iys damaging to the appliance, your mental state of being and quite possibly your marriage/relationship lol I've learnt the hard way!!!

Off to do some more washing up by hand - I didn't realise how many mugs I use

And now DD is annoyed cos I haven't used an avatar she wanted - they are never happy kids are they

  • Hello Messies - I have returned after weeks of exile living in what I can only describe as a midden! There isnt one room that doesnt need cleaning and tidying. My health has been very poor the past month and also I have had a lot of personal problems. However I now have a permanent job - whoo hoo and things are back on an even keel so I need to get my house sorted into a home.
Hope you are all well and I will try and catch up with you all. Has anyone graduated to flying yet? I wont be any time soon xx

I think I need to join this! If only on behalf of my mother. I used to be quite messy but since moving away to university I became really tidy! Through having a tiny room I think so everything had to have a place. When I left my Mum said 'my house is going to be so tidy! Like a show home!' I've officially moved out (back for holidays and summer) for 2 years now and some stuff is STILL in the exact same place it was when I left it!

How on earth can I convince her to declutter? She hates throwing anything away whereas I'm a 'do I need it, have I used it in the last 3 months, will I likely ever use it' person - if the answer to all three is no then it goes straight in the bin/charity bag/bootfair box!

She is a lover of trinkets and has collected lots of junk bits and pieces over the years. Even she agrees there are too many. Someone help me de-ornament her life!

    Hello lovely Messies...

yesterday I got a tonnes of work done (well, a tonne to me :P) - sprayed the bathroom and let it soak whilst in the bath, folded and put clothes away while I made breakfast. Cleaned bathroom when I got out of the bath, and threw away lots of *cough*holeyknickers*cough*...cleaned out the rats, did the washing up and managed a couple of hours at the greyhound shelter and a Dr appointment!

Today...I've done a whole day at work, done a mountain of washing up (HOW is it possible for men to generate so much??) and am aching too much to do much else. Will put the washing up away though. I don't understand why I feel so drained! I totally agree with not cleaning places people can't see :P

Good luck to everyone taking on decluttering in the rest of the week, and well done to everyone else :)
