My home is a mess

I am home from work and have given myself an hour to put a final push on in the kitchen, I need to reclaim my table, or else I may cry. I lplan on being done with that by half past five. Then I am going upstairs to the room of doom which is one step forward three backs just now, I am feeling quite desperate and fed up about it all today, I had said by the time the Spring break was finished. Well, it is, and I am only about 30% through what needs doing. Would putting on a rubber glove and rubbing the fur all together with that work? Bit cheaper than a Dyson! :rotfl:
Much cheaper than a Dyson, I should have known that there would be an OS remedy :T I hadn't discovered MSE then unfortunately.
At the time I'd just been diagnosed with fibromyalgia and Mum was coming up to do my housework. I can just imagine if I'd given her a pair of rubber gloves:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: I suspect she'd have told me to get a cleaner!!Making small changes everyday....0 -

Anyone tried using the dog brush on their carpet
I have a double sided brush with bristle one side and wire 'bristles' the other. I've used the wire side successfully to de fur my carpet (the wire has little bobbles on the end so shouldn't pull the threads.
Made home made pizza for dinner and a loaf of bread so am feeling quite chuffed with myself, also got the dishwasher partly loaded. Kitchen is slowly getting sorted. Trouble is with all the nice weather I just want to go out into the garden.0 -
Well done everyone - I use the rubber glove trick for cat hair and have done the stairs before with my trainers - too much energy for me.
Jackie, I am having a down day too. OH did all the dishes and the kitchen so I will give the bathroom a wipe at the end of the day and that will be the sum total of my effort today. It was lovely to come home to a clean tidy house (at least at first glance) - makes coming in restful rather than dreading opening the door - there are days when it looks like it has been burgled.
Plans for the week - I want to get the rest of the windows done and defrost the freezer - I have loads of stuff in there and instead of using it up I buy more and wonder why I am throwing so much food out.0 -
OH! and I want to go round and de cobweb - we have high ceilings and will need a ladder or a tall bloke x0

I have been de-webbing as I go from room to room today. Its about all I have managed. the boys vaccuumed the stairs and I made a meal and other stuff with the leftovers. To get into the higher corners I drape a duster over a car sponge and tie this to the end of a long stout garden cane. I broke my lovely old duster on a stick so had to improvise as I can't use a ladder on my stairs.0

I have bought myself a jml super mop for dusting and for also washing the tiles in the bathroom (all tiled floor to ceiling) - my sister recommended it and so far it seems very good. There is a mit with it that I think will be ideal for windows0
