My home is a mess

Hi there everyone,
Just found this site and the whole tone is how I feel. Was up at 5:45. Made breakfast for me and OH.
I try to follow the flying thread - but never get deep into it. We have too much stuff!!!
I do need to sort things out though. I am such a hoarder:(
We will be having a couple of large family gatherings here soon and I would like not to feel ashamed of the place.Outside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog it's too dark to read.

Morning messies!
DS had me up since 5.30. Sequeena I had spd with both mine. Ended up on crutches with my DD had an elasticated bump belt/corset for both. Insist your midwife refers you to ante natal physiotherapist for an assessment. I had co codomol tablets throughout my pregnancy and neither baby was harmed. Keep us posted.
Thank you to messies yesterday for cleaning pixie dust, advice of where to start and deal with Mums! I had a fantastic day!:j Mum came at 11.30 after a quick brew and a discussion on a plan of action we tackled the hall. Mums philosophy was it's the start of the journey through the house and it's the smallest room!
The hall is only 6x4 with floor to ceiling mirrored sliding doors concealing shelves containing tupperware, little used small kitchen appliances, flour, currants etc cake tins. We emptied each shelf at time, washing it's contents and deciding whether it was a keep or CS. We cleaned the mirrored doors, washed all the walls down swept the ceiling, washed my uplighter lampshade, which was disgusting! Cleaned the door and mopped the floor. We emptied the boot trays and wshed them and only replaced the footwear which is needed. We only stopped for lunch, and I went to do the school run and then picked DS up from nursery. I found the slow cooker which had not been washed and obviously was a part of a scientific experiment! By moving that and a couple of bottles of booze into the hall cupboard I have created enough space in the kitchen to make a up of tea instead of the draining board!
She finally left at 6.15. I couldn't thank her enough her encouragement and drive and never ending energy and motivation was infectious! I felt really sorry for her as she's very lame as her knee replacement hasn't worked out. I also managed to do 3 further loads of laundry and washed the door curtain. My DH couldn't believe it when he walked in. My DD cleared her brothers play pen out of toys and vacced up the crunched in crisps and biscuits she'd been feeding him! Mum has offered to come back next week and help me start on the kitchen! I didn't need to count to 10 at all. She said she didn't judge me and just wanted to support me as she firmly believes that a tidy house is a tidy mind and this may be the start of my recovery. A member of staff from the childrens centre is coming this aft to help for an hour. They said that they would like to tackle the dining room table, it's stacked!!
After all my good fortune I want to distribute cleaning pixie dust and organisational elves to run trough all your houses and do good works today! have a great day messies!0 -
Well done, Trolly! What a day - bet you slept well! Keep thinking this way and before you know it, you will have been through all cupboards, wardrobes and rooms! And even better your family will (gradually, I hope!) keep learning what the new *norm* is! I love your DD efforts to help, children are so cute when they're trying to be helpful!!
BTW, for anyone clearing things out of their home that they are hoping to sell on I read on another thread that Ebay is having a free-listing weekend this coming weekend. HTH someone, but keep in mind sometimes it's easier, cheaper and faster to just give some items away!
Have wonderful day! Off to do my bathroom and tidy! : ):A Thanks to all the lovely people who contribute their advice! :A0 -
Morning All
You all sound very busy and productive. It is very motivating, and to that end I will endeavour to get stuff done today instead of sitting here thinking about it!

Hello all,I havent posted in quite a while.Hubby is abroad and i intended on doing loads but havent done half as much as i hoped to have.Loving the peace though
.
I woke really early this morning (need blackout blinds) which has left me feeling exhausted before the day has really begun.
The last few days I have sold and bought a sofa.Today my `new` sofa is being delivered ,which will be challenging as my old one isnt being picked up until tomorrow
I did think that if i came here and wrote a list, it might help me get up and do stuff instead on browsing threads.so my main aims today are...
1)wash up and clean sides in kitchen
2)hoover and tidy living room
3)tidy my bedroom/hoover
4)clean the toilet and bathroom
Going to keep that as my main aims as anything else will be a false promise.Have a good day everyone.x“Love yourself first and everything else falls into line. Your really have to love yourself to get anything done in this world.” Lucille Ball.0 -

Hi domestic trainees , thought I update you on the mouse in the house. Well at 8.30 this morning after having sneaked back to bed whilst oh took dd to school I was shook awake by dd telling me the mouse was in the clutches of one of our cats. I ran down ,yes I ran!, and tried to get hold of the mouse. The mouse ran up my pj bottoms stopping at my bum where I caught it.
Anyway the little mouses heart was going ten to the dozen. After stroking and talking to it it calmed down and tried to crouch down in my hand . Let it go in the back. Washed, well scrubbed my hands.
Oh is scared of them so was not touching it.
Iv just got in from our local shop and will shortly be cleaning, just though Id tell you of my adventure this morning.0 -
:mad:GRR and double GRR:mad:. Have spent most of the afternoon outside in the girls (hens) house, 2 of them are broody so i threw (not literally:p) them out to change and clean the house and i found red mite investation :mad::(, so i put LOADS of red mite stuff in the house, waited for that to dry, then i put a strong solution of detol in there (got that hint from another site), let that dry then i have just finished 20 minute session of steam cleaning the house so i am really hoping they have gone but will have to keep up with the steam cleaning every other day for a week then will do it every 3 - 4 days for a week or 2 after that, i just hope i really don't have a CBA day as that would just be to unfair on the girls. One of the poor broodies is deperatly trying to get back in to sit on the fake eggs .
Hope everyone is having a better day than me
