Emm, I read a few reviews before I chose my cleaner and some of the low scoring ones were great! Some people seem to think it will do all the work without you having to do anything at all! Mine is a handheld but by using the right tool for the job it's doing the trick. I did the rabbit litter trays this morning and it was great, took hardly any time or effort at all.
The electrician is here today to fix the dodgy toilet light and he's going to replace the security light outside too. It's not the cheapest work we've had done but with the darker nights about to arrive it's well worth it.
Good luck with the appraisal YL.0 -
Hi Messies!
SerialRenter - my socks are all short black ones, so oddness not an issue, OH always presents his in pairs for washing, and DS`s are always mostly odd when they get washed. I just put his in a big shopping bag when dry, assume they have a mate in there, and let him find pairs himself!
Hope you have a great holiday!
YL, I hope your work appraisal went well. There`s so much managerial box-ticking nowadays, but does it really make the system work any better? Hang in there, the kitchen upheaval will surely be worth it when it`s finished!
Dibuzz, I`m so glad you sound brighter, and have patience as well as positive action with the de-cluttering. I know we always say `baby steps`, but there have been times when I`ve tried to blitz too much in one go, then got dis-heartened and let it slide back into chaos again.
Alec E - I might give my steam cleaner another go sometime, and not expect miracles!

Well, I`ve had a week off (and still have the weekend, but DS is back tonight, and DGD will be here too, both bringing their `stuff` !)
I`ve done quite a lot, but nothing major really. Refuse to beat myself up over this, as I have relaxed a bit and enjoyed the week too.
I have Henry`d all upstairs, cleaned bathroom and washed bedclothes, but I haven`t had a proper clothes-sorting session yet as I`m still living in summer tops.
I`ve done pretty well with using food from the freezers, (de-cluttered a small leg of pork & some lovely brisket into our tums this week, and thawed a nice belly pork joint to cook today) and resisted buying more just because it`s YS and I have a bit of space for it.
As it`s been a low-spend week, yesterday I decided to treat myself to a small pestle & mortar (for curry spices, etc.) and found one for under a fiver in Dunelm.
BUT - during my search for it, I found a large shallow cast iron casserole/pan & lid, orangey red... Sainsbury Cook`s Range - was £50 but they were marked down to £15. I have fancied one of these for ages so I treated myself, and am still chuffed to bits!
Still on my `to do` list before work on Monday -
Now, because the kitchen is too small to keep all my cooking stuff, I`ve decided to properly clear LR dresser and put my orangey red cast iron stuff (grand total of 3 now) on that. I`ll have to re-home a fruit bowl and 2 packs of dog treats, and a `clutter bowl` but that`s not a bad thing.
Changing the car is imminent, probably next week, so I still have to empty all the clutter asnd give car a good clean. I`m hoping to enlist some help from DGD!
Have a decent weekend all. x0 -
Only done the basics over the weekend, I was going to mow the front lawn this afternoon but ended up going for a lovely day out instead.14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140

Glad you had a lovely day out Dibuzz. Sometimes a change of scenery makes a huge difference.0

Glad to hear you had a nice day out dibuzz.
I didn't do much over the weekend either. DH dealt with the washing up all weekend, which was the only thing that needed doing really, we were out most of the time so there was no-one here to make a mess!
The electrician did a great job on Friday, I'm really pleased. He did end up replacing the security light rather than just repairing the old one. The new one is great, it's an LED one, so nice and bright and the casing is all plastic, with us being near the sea a metal one is a waste of time as they just rust really quickly. I didn't think I liked him when he came round to quote, but he was actually very nice so will certainly use his services again.
Today seems like the first "normal" day for weeks, there are no workmen coming at all this week so I can just do my thing and not have to think about it. Today I'm catching up with some laundry, I've already henry'd throughout and there are a few other bits and bobs to do.
Have a good day.0 -
Hi
Have starting 'clearing up' again and so far 3 black bags of rubbish. Must admit, my living rooms is looking a lot better.
Still got lots of paperwork to shred.

I've actually ironed and washed kitchen and back porch floors.
Not much housework last week, as I spentnthe time desperately knitting a second sweater of DIL, after my disaster of colour 'mid-matching' with the first.
It's her birthday today, but she won't get the sweater until DS takes it back, with him, now.Member #14 of SKI-ers club
