Good morning,
Welcome MoonJelly!
Today is floor day *excited*. They're coming at 10.30. Last night was a bit chaotic, we had to move the last of the furniture out of the living room - luckily the sofa just squeezed through the garage door without having to take the feet off. Then we had to clean as we went and pack the buns up, drive to MILs and build them a new house there. We were worn out by the time we got home.
this morning I henry'd and mopped the floor, then henry'd again as there was still a bit of fluff flying around. The room looks huge and it echoes so much I can't believe it. I miss the buns but it will be worth it. We're going over to visit them tonight, hopefully things will return to normal tomorrow night.
I've been talking about it for a really long time but I'm going to buy a steam cleaner this week just to make cleaning the buns out a bit (a lot) easier. I promise after tomorrow I'll stop going on about my floor.
Hope everyone has a good day and that you're enjoying the sun we have here.0 -
Hi all - I`m off to work in a minute, then an early tomorrow. No decluttering here for now, but I have left the kitchen clear and tonight`s meal is cooked and waiting in the fridge.
Alec E - no need to apologise for going on about the floor, and please feel free to share your pleasure in its completion when it is done!
Have a decent day all. x0 -
:waves: at all fellow messies old and new.
I've managed to get through the school holidays without killing the children which is always a plus.
I managed to get our boiler serviced and a new 'air brick' thing installed.
The conservatory roof was looked at by two different people (conservatory roof people and a property maintenance people) neither of whom have any idea how to stop the water running down the inside of the wall (sigh).
I 'sold' 7 bags of raggy clothes & worn out shoes to the cash for clothes place for £18
I've just handed over a bag of clothes (and 2 pairs or footy boots) that DS#2 has outgrown to my friend who I see on the school run.
I've just managed to get a quote to get the outside of the house painted.
Oh and I may have got a new job as support staff at a school - I went for the interview for one job and ended up being interviewed for and offered a more senior post. I start on Monday! so all the sorting out and everything I was 'going to do' over the holidays or shortly after the kids went back to school has been blown out the window.
Oh well, there's always the school holidays I guess.just in case you need to know:

Can you believe it, we went to visit MIL/the buns last night, packed them up in their pen for the night, one of them was ill. Of course she waited until last thing at night, the closest emergency vet was a 25 minute drive away so we ended up driving her all the way over here to our vet. So there she is staying. Hopefully we'll be getting a call in the next few minutes and we'll be able to pick her up later.
You can only plan for so much!
Have a good Friday everyone.0 -
Evening all.
FA, congratulations on the new job! I bet you`re glad you did all that clearing out before you start. The rest will keep...
Alec E, I do hope your poorly bun is better now, and that the other one isn`t missing her too much.

I`m so tired, just one more early shift then 2 days off. I`m really glad I did some cooking in advance a few days ago and got it all planned. Tonight it`s boiled bacon hocks re-warmed, with M`s Frozen crunchy potato bites and microwave mushy peas, and an early night.
DGD isn`t here till tomorrow and DS can get his meal when he`s ready for it, so nothing to do now but eat and sleep - except empty a WM load when it stops.0 -
I have had a disaster today!
Eventually finished Aran cardie for American DIL. ( started a year ago but delayed as I'd hurt my wrist and couldn't knit).
I sewed it up, only to find a clear line on one of the sleeves, where the shade doesn't match!
I always check the flipping numbers! Don't know what happened!
I can't possibly give it to her now!Member #14 of SKI-ers club

OUCH!! I`d be very grumpy about that Pol. Is it very obvious apart from the line where the wools join? How far up the sleeve is the line? I was thinking could you maybe do a band of say blanket stitch or herringbone in a contrasting colour (maybe to match the buttons?) around both sleeves at the same level, to hide the line, make it look a bit `designer`... I did something very similar once on a cream jumper for DD and everyone said it looked great!0

That's definitely a disaster Pollypenny, I can't think of any way round it except dye.
I've hoovered the stairs and sorted out some of the clutter in the hall.14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140 -
Thanks for suggestions. DIL is always smart, so I think it's one for me. I'll have to start again for her.Member #14 of SKI-ers club

I've done loads of washing and got it all dried outside, that's about it though.
I've had one of those days where everything got go me and I've done nothing but cry, I did try to sort some clutter in my room but was just moving it from one place to another so gave up.14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140
